Is Ike Diogu in the doghouse???
When i was listening to the game i did not hear them even mention Ike Diogu.I saw the boxscore and it said dnp (did not play). I thought he was injured but i doubt it,i remember he was having trouble remembering the plays so maybe that's why.I thought Ike Diogu was 1 of the players that could have benefit from the arrival of nelson cause Diogu spreads the floor and shoot from the outside just like Murphy (Diogu can't shoot 3's though). So what you guys think? You think Diogu will have a good year or will he be in the doghouse with Adonal Foyle? I hope his on the floor cause he could help this team.

From what Nellie is saying
On the surface Ike seems like a player that would fit well into Nellies schemes, but he has the same weaknesses most young players have. Mainly his entire offensive game revolves around having the ball in his hands and shooting and his defensive game revolves around hanging out until it's time to play offense again.

definition of doghouse
Similar things can be said of Foyle. His not playing doesn't sound like doghouse (though his weight may actually be an issue) but rather Nellie notices that Adonal just isn't a very complete player. He's a shot blocker but a zero offense, lousy from the line and has hands of stone. He's merely an adequate position defender who gets called a "defensive center" because he can block some shots and there's not much else positive to say about him until you start discussing his politics.

He's in the Diogu House . . .
He doesn't "dog it on D" but he does get a lot of ticky-tack fouls which makes it hard for him to stay on the floor. That seems to be a function of bad defensive footwork.

Victor "Big Smoothie" Alexander
When Nellie took over Dallas, his first personnel move as GM was to cut Victor Alexander. And that was how many years later? Nellie's dog house is not a place you want to be.

I like Ike!
Seriously, let's not go overboard on this "Diogu house" stuff -- even if it is a cute pun. Ike may be a square peg in Nellie's fast-paced system, but unless he's truly regressed from last year, he still got loads of promise. He may not be Elton Brand, but he's a lot closer to Brand than to the Big Smoothie!

I like Ike too
Point was that being a shooting big man was not enough to get playing time for Nelson. Big Smoothie was my example.
The "Diogu House" was in reference to Ike's specific problem of not learning plays as quickly as everyone else. Foyle's in the dog house because he's out of shape and has no offensive skills and Zarko because he's unpredictible and inconsistant which are normal "dog house". I've never heard of an highly skilled NBA player getting benched because he can't learn plays. Hence the "Diogu House". We're talking about the dude who gave minutes to Ewe Blab, Les Jepsen and Cristian Welp.
BTW, I'd take Big Vic over Todd Fuller any day.

Hm
The issue may be that he just doesn't put in the effort in practice and doesn't really care where he is supposed to be (ala training camp). That's how he got into Byron Scotts doghouse. Then again, you don't get into the NBA for As in school, do you?
