The Oracle

Just this afternoon the Warriors reached an agreement with Oracle Corporation on the naming rights of The Oakland Arena. The Warriors home will now be called "The Oracle" for the next 10 years.

Thanks to JudBooshlur who broke the news first with the diary "The Oakland Arena to be renamed...". Make sure to vote in his poll.

Oracle and the Golden State Warriors today announced a naming rights agreement in which the Arena in Oakland will be renamed the Oracle. The 10-year agreement also includes additional exclusive team sponsorship elements with the National Basketball Association club. Financial terms of the deal were not released.

"We welcome the opportunity to align ourselves with the Oracle brand," said Warriors President Robert Rowell. "The Warriors are rapidly progressing toward our goal of becoming a championship organization, and partnering with Oracle is another sign of that progress. They are undoubtedly the best in the world at what they do. We look forward to tapping into them as a valuable business resource."

What do you think of the name? What else would you have named it?

The Matrix
Like I said in the diary:

You know this means....
....that we'll be trading for the Matrix!!!  Awesome.  We'll dodge Western Conference bullets left and right.

The real question is, who in the NBA is considered:

Morpheus? (Shaq?)
Trinity? (Travis Diener?)
Agent Smith? (Kobe?)

p.s. I think it sounds sweet.  I can imagine all the headlines....if the Warriors are playing other worldly.

Top 7 of '07 draft = Warriors only chance of being good over the next 5 years

I like it.
it's a pretty bad@ss name... and if the Warriors become one of the upper echelon teams in the NBA... can you imagine sportscenter/Inside the NBA talking about "The Oracle"? gives me the goosebumps.

I find it to be...
Pretty wack. I mean, the arena's named after an 8 pound vacuum now. I could care less about the software development company. When I hear Oracle, I think vacuum.
coma coma coma coma coma chameleon, you come and go. you most definitely come and go.

I'm normally
against it, but oracle....wow.

And oracle is definately not matrix. It goes back tto ancinect times. Oracle kicks the s** out F*** everything. Our arena owns.

But if I had to name it, I'd name it Awesome Arena of Awesomeness.

Eh.
How about The Oracle Arena in Oakland?

So we don't lose more ground in terms of the national stage and the country not knowing where the Golden State Warriors play.

Let's call it
The O.

Person 1: Where you going tonight?
Person 2: I'm going to catch a game at The O.

Yay or Nay?

  1. I'm going to watch the Dub's get a W at the O
