Warriors Waive Chris Taft

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=warriorstaft&prov=st&type=lgns

" OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - Golden State Warriors forward Chris Taft failed to make it onto the court in the preseason. He won't have the chance to take the floor with them in the regular season, either.

The Warriors on Friday waived Taft, who missed all seven of the club's preseason games with muscular inflammation. "

very unfortunate... he could have been a great back up if he didn't injure his back.  I hope for the best for Taft.

Does this mean we can sign Barnes and Roberson?

Bingo
Taft never really wowed me...

but having two "readier" players with Barnes and Roberson makes me a lot happier than having Taft on the injured list all year, sucking up a roster spot. We also have a logjam of larger players, and Barnes, at least, helps fill in a spot at SF. I think it's a great move

good
i liked taft when he played in the first few games last year, but the guy can't stay healthy..if he can't play then he's useless to us and we need guys who can play..hopefully we can keep both roberson and barnes now
the crowning achievement of ira newble's illustrious career

more room
i liked taft, he played well in his small stints last year. very active, good hands. good luck, maybe he can finally get better and get back on the court. i do believe the move was made to keep roberson. he and barnes were fighting for that last roster spot, instead of having to pick one or the other they let taft go to keep both.

Good luck, Chris
I just hope he don't come back on the Lakers or kings someday to haunt us!

I know Taft looked good...
But what could he really provide in Nelson's system?

If anything, Taft doesn't seem to have the right tools to thrive here...it's best he leaves and pursues his NBA career on a different team.

And I wish him well

been saying this for weeks
I've been saying this for a few weeks now...the W's needed to find a way to keep both Roberson AND Barnes. This move shows that Mully was thinking the same thing.
Seriously, Taft had this same knock coming out of college. He got hurt and lacked the drive to come back, it's his MO. Hopefully he doesn't seem to find his heart on another team in the Pacific Division, because when he is motivated (which isn't often) he can be a player.

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

What?
Theres all this talk about his "motivation", dude, you don't even know the guy.  You're basing that assumption off what other people have said.  The fact is he's injured and not capable of playing.  What that has to do with "motivation" is beyond me.

sorry dude
uh, ok. I happened to actually watch some Pitt basketball and had seen Taft play probably a dozen or so games in college. So, i saw firsthand he unmotivated, uninspired play there (he wasn't even the best forward on his team, that honor belonged to Chevron Troutman). Then i read all the pre draft reports on him being unmotivated and lazy..etc. when he was entering the draft. Now he gets hurt like almost 18 months ago and he STILL hasn't recovered? Sorry DUDE, but they just smells of lazy, unmotivated SLOTH to me. Good riddance IMO. I would rather have a guy like Barnes anyday.

the guy
had back surgery, and after the surgery he had inflammation which is hindering him.  thats not laziness.  don't underestimate back injuries, they can be career ending for a player.

too bad
wish him the best of luck in the future.

p.s. hope my new sig works.

Backs suck
As someone with chronic back problems, I can feel for the guy. When my back goes out, which it has been known to do quite often, I can't even walk so I can't imagine playing basketball at the NBA level with one. Hopefully he can get it healthy enough so he can play somewhere but back ailments never ever ever go away for good. So while it sucks for Taft, it is most likely the best move for the team. I just don't get the feeling that he's going to come back to haunt us in the future.

I know what you mean
My back gave out two years ago and it's just not the same, took a long time to heal.  When it happened I couldn't even put on socks it hurt so bad.
