Nellie pledging to make changes

Here are some post game quotes from Nellie.  The first one is interesting because he states that the team was worst than last year:

"So much for good starts," Nelson said. "I was disappointed with our performance, our energy and with whatever else went on out there. We reverted to last year, maybe worse. Any way you cut it, we were poor tonight. The team is telling me I might have to make changes."

And the second one rips Dunleavy and Pietrus:

Nelson ripped his entire team, but reserved particular disdain for Davis, who "pounded the ball too much," and Mike Dunleavy, who "was a disaster. He didn't rebound, he didn't score, he didn't do anything."

So what do you expect Nellie to change?!?!?

Dunleavy... GONE... Diogu, will start, that's for sure.  What else?!

This is what I like to see tho
Last year Monty wouldn't make adjustments and wouldn't be critical of his starters. You can be 100% certain that Nellie's not afrad to bench people and try new things.

agreed
yep, it's pretty simple. Triple Singles, AKA: Skip to My IQ, AKA: Lil' Clips Coach, AKA: Dunnothing....etc...etc. Needs to have a seat. This guy adds absolutely NOTHING. He may look good in practice but come game time, most nights he just disappears. He's afraid to shoot the ball, only makes superficial "swing it around the horn" passes and can't play a lick of defense.
Wouldn't it be sad to see Triple Singles and Foyle on the IL..sitting there in street clothes making what 18 mil between them? Good god mullin.

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

my $.02
As much as I'd hate to say it, we'll need Foyle.

Wait, stop pounding on me. Let me say why:

  1. He can still rebound
  2. He can be our "interior defensive presence" we lack.
Now, of course there will have to be restrictions:
  1. As soon as he rebounds, don't dribble (I know Nellie wants his bigs to be overgrown PGs) but simply give the ball to Monta or someone much more capable of handling the rock.
  2. STAY AWAY FROM THE OFFENSE. DO NOT DISRUPT THE OFFENSE!
  3. KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM THE OFFENSE.
So, this would be my new lineup:
  1. Baron
  2. Monta
  3. JRich
  4. AB or TM
  5. Foyle

Only problem I have
Is that Foyle can't run for crap so if we are really trying to be an "up-tempo team" then we would have to slow down and wait for him on the other end of the court, otherwise you are looking at some potential matchup problems on the other end.

i agree

Center in fast tempo?

Why do we need 5 fast guys?  If it's a fast break offense four guys can get the ball in the hoop before any center needs to be there. I think someone who can fill up the middle on defense would be a good tradeoff for a fast 5th man, also might take some pressure off the ball handlers if a big could post up inside ocassionally.

Sure
That works in theory, but clearly we don't have players capable of putting the ball in the basket when they are under it so now we are stuck with 5 on 4 situations.

ab can play D
i saw some beasty blocks from biedrens last night. i think he was the highlight of the game. any1 see when he put the ball on the floor and took it the hoop! i think he should be starting, cuz hes young and athletic and it turns hes got a little tiny ability to score, unlike foyle who can nuthin

AB can play
AB is learning fast , give him a little more time and put some more pounds on him and he'll be a center. Foyle isn't an offensive threat but he's big enough to hold his position when they try to push him out. A rotation of both of them so they can stay fresh would probably be a good combination and put murphy back at PF and rest him with diogu.

Biedrins
I agree, I'm looking for him to start, at least in some form of an experiment that Nellie is going to try, any day now. I also wouldn't be surprised if he takes advantage of it and becomes a mainstay in the rotation, potentially as the full time starter. Regardless, if Murphy is moved out of the 5 position, I expect anyone who fills in to start to split the time with his counterparts on the team....no 35+ minutes a night.

Beans
I would totally agree with adding Beans to the starting 5, if it weren't for 2 things:
  1. he can't shoot outside of 3 feet.
  2. he can'st shoot FT's to save his life
That is why i would give the nod to Notorious. Give the kid a shot...biggie biggie biggie can't you see?

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

FT's
Yeah, the FT% is probably the biggest thing keeping him out of the starting lineup for now. POB needs a little more seasoning before I would start him, but that doesn't mean he can't log significant minutes for sure. Especially with Foyle in street clothes.
