OPEN THREAD: Game #3 - Warriors @ Jazz

Warriors (W-L): 1-1

Jazz (W-L): 2-0

Date/Time: Saturday 11/4/06 @ 6:00PM PST tip off

Last night's win was a confidence booster for the Golden State Warriors. They played much better than they did against the Lakers as they were able to get out and run. They were active on D and the bench really came through. But there were still many mishaps, and against a team with the talent and coaching of the Jazz, the Warriors must play better to win.

For the Jazz, Boozer is looking great so far, Okur always gives the Warriors trouble, and Derek Fisher is going to want his revenge. Their frontline is going to give the Warriors trouble as Boozer can bang down low and Okur can pull the big men out with his shooting range. Expect a tough game tonight.

Vegas Odds: Jazz favored by 6 points.

GSoM Prediction: Warriors by 2.

Make sure to drop your vote for who you think will win in the Comments. If you're watching or listening near a computer, post any comments you have during the game right here.

GO WARRIORS!!!!

Update: Live Boxscore

Update 2: In a nailbiter, the Jazz win 106-82.

We'll be lucky to be comeptitive
Utah is tough. Realistically, GSW might not have a line up that can compete with the Jazz. Their front court is going to eat us alive. AK-47/Matt Harping Carlos Boozer / Jarron Collins Mehmet Okur / Rafael Araujo The PG position ain't bad either: Fisher & Deron Brown

by Zorgon on Nov 4, 2006 4:31 PM PST up reply actions

tough game
this is a more half court team that like to post up, and the warriors are still trying to establish themselves as a running team, the key to this one is to kepp control of the tempo, don't let utah slow it down like they want to

by mydedgerbil555 on Nov 4, 2006 1:05 PM PST reply actions

i hope
jrich throws another one off Boozer's head and hits a 3 in his face.

by djchuckdeez on Nov 4, 2006 1:31 PM PST reply actions

LOL
I forgot about that.  That was funny to everybody except Booz.

by LancerEvoV on Nov 4, 2006 1:34 PM PST up reply actions

hahahaha
that was awesome... especially since he hit the three right after.  i mean it would be kinda lame if he missed it lol

I think guys are starting to click with...
Nellie's scheme. I think this early part of the season is gonna be kinda experimental, as Nelly finds the best starters to run his system, and the guys figure out how to be most effective in this system. So, for me, it's kinda like the pressure is off a bit, and it's just a matter of seeing how things mesh.

I guess that's pretty much true for most teams. But, who the hell cares about them?

by Jeremy Belvins on Nov 4, 2006 3:14 PM PST reply actions

wtf?!?!?!
who voted for the jazz to win!

by travisl212 on Nov 4, 2006 3:34 PM PST reply actions

Kind of hard not to think the Jazz will win
I've been saying it all year ... Jazz are top 6 in the West! but i still hope Warriors win tonight :)

by YaoButtaMing on Nov 4, 2006 4:37 PM PST up reply actions

top 6 what?

top 6 most boring teams?
All-time Oakland Warriors starting five: Hardaway, Richardson, Mullin, Larry Smith, Robert Parish

by OaktownWarrior on Nov 4, 2006 5:08 PM PST up reply actions

Jazz are freaky good
Why do people sleep on these guys? I say they are top 6 in the West which means I have Spurs, Mavs, Rockets, Clips, Suns as teams who are better then the Jazz. Other then that I have them right up there. With Okur, Boozer and AK47 its hard not to think they will beat us tonight. I'd like to see us pull one away, but I think we'd have a better chance against the Mav's (history) then we do winning tonight :). I'm just not very  optimistic that's all about tonight's game ... so I hope I'm wrong.

The Utah Misnomers
It's been a couple decades, but I'm still baffled as to why the Jazz kept their name after moving from New Orleans. The Utah Jazz is the most misapplied and lame team name since, well...since the Los Angeles Lakers.

Los Angeles Reservoirs, perhaps?
Utah Soft Rock?

Yeah

by World Sleepy King on Nov 4, 2006 6:57 PM PST reply actions

And POB is no Biedrins
Biedrins & Ike are way more mobile to counteract these Utah big men.

by back2back51s on Nov 4, 2006 7:02 PM PST up reply actions

OK..I'm curious...
how come Biedrins only played 12 minutes...he started off very well and didn't see him in 2nd period...

also, I think it's hilarious that J-Rich tries to draw a foul while shooting a 3 knowing he has a better chance of getting 3 from behind the arc than on the line where he made one out of 3.

New strategy...don't try and draw fouls...just shoot and try to avoid them
If there is a defensive 3 against Warriors opponent...DECLINE IT!!!

I guess I have to find something postive? Let's see...The BART commercial was kinda cute and Atma's girlfriend is knocking down my high interest...and Biedrins showed some life. Everyone else seemed tired or bored. What kind of practice schedule are they doing? Are they overworked??
