RECAP: Warriors 101, Hornets 80 - Nelliefabulous

They say the 1200th win is always the hardest! Nellie now ranks second all time for coaching wins behind Lenny Wilkens (1,332) after last night's victory over the Hornets. Nellie's achievement brings a little bit of joy and an end to a depressing four game losing week. More importantly we are now back at .500 and looking to move forward with our next two games against the Sonics and Kings.

Nellie on this special occasion:

"It just means that I've been around a long time," he said. "Look and see who is one of the top guys who's lost games and I'm right there, too. I've been fortunate to be able to do this a long time."

Did anyone actually see the game on TV? For those who were at the game and posted comments last night I appreciate the info and excitement. I would have loved to have seen the game however this is what was on FSN plus for me:

From what I gather Pietrus played an integral role in our win posting a team high of 22 points. We also had a little bit of luck when Desmond Mason (who scored 22 of his 24 points in the first half) left for most of the second half due to a loose filling. We didn't even need Mutombo here to knock his teeth out.

Warrior Wonder: Baron played well and almost posted a triple double - 16 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds however, I have to give the nod to our coach Don Nelson.

Here is a little salute to Coach Nellie for his 1200th win! My photoshop skills aren't what they used to be but you get the point. I'm just glad we have Nellie as our coach. Though we are currently 10th in the West I have full confidence he is the one who can lead us to the playoffs.

Thank NBA.com for the Nellie Gallery

Correction...
Nellie already was the 2nd most winning coach.  He just became the 2nd coach to win 1200 games.

Great 2nd half
Got to see the game.

Warriors stunk it up in the 1st quarter.  It was 18-11 Hornets with 2 mins. left in the 1st.  Turnovers, no box outs.  Awful.

Then Paul went out with foul trouble in the 2nd and the W's made a run with some steals and easy buckets to tie it up 45-45 at the half.

Came out aggressive to the rim, went to a 1/2/2 zone and shut down the Hornets.  Pietrus got hot from the corner for 3s (no don't do it) and had a monster jam.  Baron/Monta/Barnes made some nice feeds to Biedrins for some slams and the Warriors blew out the Hornets in the 4th.

Nothing better than "The City".
