Rumor: Celtics, Warriors, and Kings Most Likely to Acquire Allen Iverson

Ken Berger for Newsday.com dropped a piece Where will Iverson end up? Boston? mostly detailing the Boston take on dealing for Allen Iverson, but near the end there was this juicy piece of gossip:

Golden State and Sacramento also appear to be among the teams most likely to acquire Iverson.

Indiana emerged Monday as a strong player, with discussions centering around Jamaal Tinsley and Stephen Jackson.

Dallas and New Orleans have enough expiring contracts to make a deal attractive to the Sixers, and Charlotte is well under the salary cap and needs a franchise player to sell tickets. Memphis could offer the expiring contract of Eddie Jones, but any major moves are on hold because the team is up for sale. Speculation has gone away from Minnesota, Dallas and Denver, three of the early favorites to land him.

It's really hard to tell if there's a legitimate source fueling the statement that the Warriors and Kings are serious candidates for AI, but after several days of trade talks who really knows? Front offices could be throwing up smokescreens and simply leveraging other squads as bargaining chips. It's negotiation 101.

Let's say our Pacific division rival Sacramento Kings find a way to team up Allen Iverson with Ron Artest. Does that mean the Warriors can kiss the playoffs goodbye this season?

(And amazingly guess who the Warriors square off against tomorrow night? I seriously love it when the transitions just play out so easily like this!)

Someone's been hittin RealGm.com too?
lol I can see the Iverson talk has everyone searching for news. We're like Paparazzi's on a mission to be the first one to break the news that Iverson has been traded to your GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS. It would be nice to introduce our newest arrival (crossing fingers) to our fellow Baydestrians, The Sacramento Kings. Don't forget the Sixers play the Celtics tomorrow too! Wouldn't that be something if he torched the sixers for 50 points with pure hustle.

Haha
Naw, just poking around for the latest as usual. Haha, come on now- you know AI's been my favorite player for a long time now. Of course I'm going to be digging up the latest and asking around nonstop.

On a side note, I have to say that both RealGM Wiretap and ESPN Trade Rumor Central do a very effective job of disguising the fact that the rumors they are reporting are NOT a product of their own work. RealGM has that ambiguous and nearly hidden "[READ]" link to the original newspaper and ESPN Trade Rumor Central doesn't even link to the local papers. Very shady.

People think HoopsHype and Inside Hoops come up with rumors, but they're just quoting local papers. Props to both of them for at least making the links very clear.

True!
In fact I just noticed that. Hopefully this doesn't turn out like what happened with Artest last year. The PACERS did him wrong. After giving it some thought I'm starting to notice something I saw with the CAVS in the Lebron draft. I think they're going to tank the season with hopes of getting Greg Oden. What team would sit one of the leading scorers in the NBA? They have some serious problems in Philly. Hell I can't blame Iverson demanding a trade after finding out that he was being shopped around in the summer. Who wants to work for an employer knowing that the employer doesn't really want them? Philly's trash will easily become our treasure.

inside hoops gave me 4 trojan horse viruses...
2 days ago, when i was searching for AI news.  yep, it came from their ads that show up before u open an article.   i emailed their ENTIRE staff and threw a fit, and they wrote me back and apologized and acknowledged that it was their bad.

so, i wouldn't give them too much props, at least espn doesn't infect us with their sponsors ;)

Inside Hoops did NOT do that, different site did
You're mistaking Inside Hoops, a great website, with another site. Insidehoops.com doesn't even run the type of ads you describe. And they don't have an "entire" staff to email, the site is run by one person. While it's possible you are intentionally making that up, chances are you're just making an honest mistake and confusing them with another site.

Sorry I meant hoopshype.com
Whoops I meant hoopshype.com, not insidehoops.  for the record, hoopshype did reply and apologized and explained hwo and why it happened, so it shouldnt' in the future.

both websites are great websites, and, for the record, i am not working for or against either.

thank u.

the article... is not very.... sensible.
Charlotte ?? They would have to trade almost their entire roster to match salaries for AI. The Bobcats barely meet the minimum salary limit if they are even meeting it at all.

Same with Dallas... I dont see Mark Cuban wanting to bring in AI. Whos spot would he take on an already loaded roster? I dont see AI playing (defensively) the way Avery would want him to play. Plus Dirk needs the ball in his hands to be effective, how can he be effective if the ball is always in AI's hands?

However... I can see New Orleans and Memphis going for AI. Same with Indy, I bet they are dying to get rid of Stephen "I'm really crazy" Jackson. Boston too.

No way for the Bobcats and Dallas. Ken Berger is just creating hype.

Apparently
Charlotte is so far under the cap that they can "absorb" Iverson's huge contract. I think it means they don't have to give back close to $18 million as long as they don't go over the cap.

The Bobcats are under the cap
They don't have to match salaries...

Rascan ur right
And i would laugh seeing Ron Ron and AI in Sacramento.  Ron jacks up the shots, and the reason he wanted out of Indy was "not being involved in the offense."  If there is any way to get uninvolved in an offense it's to play next to AI.  Sac could try it, but i would forecast disaster.

Yes...
but wouldn't the drama off the court be way more fun than the actual games? -- insert look of terror here --

Iverson/Sprewell together in Charlotte?
If Charlotte traded for Iverson, they would need to trade naught their entire roster (Morrison, Okafor, Knight, May, Brezec, Felton, Wallace maybe keep a few) to get him. If they did so, they would need to sign a lot of FAs. Anyone seeing a familiar name come to mind?

Latrell Sprewell.

Iverson/Sprewell backcourt? Now that'd be craaaazy.

OK....reading on ESPN
The W's are supposedly the front runners for A.I. with a Deal that includes B.D. And a "couple" of young players...that kind of scares me.  Now young as in Roberson/Barnes? or Young like Ike/Beanie/Monta? I still don't know how I feel about this one.....
It is what it is....

what?
esco, can you put a link up so I can read it?

not sure it'll work if it's insider....
http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/features/rumors

...but there it is, also, GSDubz started a discussion on it here on this site, and he quoted the article..check it out.

It is what it is....

GSDubz, Inside Hoops didn't do that. Wrong site
Hey GSDubz,

Inside Hoops did NOT do what you said above. InsideHoops does not even run the type of ads that you're talking about.

You said a site gave you a virus. HoopsHype runs the type of ads you are talking about, that make you wait before you can read the article. Perhaps you're confusing one site with another.

But it definitely wasn't Inside Hoops. Inside Hoops is great and doesn't run the type of ads you complained about.
