Rumor: Warriors Upped Offer for Iverson to Baron Davis, Monta Ellis, Ike Diogu, and a 1st Rounder

One of our sources in close touch with an Eastern Conference scout said that the last thing they heard was that the Warriors upped their offer to Baron Davis, Monta Ellis, Ike Diogu and a 1st rounder for Allen Iverson and presumably some other 76ers players. It's not clear whether this heavy offer was made before or after Bucher's earlier TV report that the Warriors were out of the running.

As big of a proponent as I am of bringing AI to the Bay even I'd have serious reservations about that move. We'll keep passing on whatever we hear.

Can you believe all this Warriors talk today and tonight's game is still 2 hours away?

Wow! That's a lot to offer.
I'd also be hesitant to make that trade. Let us keep Monta or Diogu and I'd be willing to make that trade.

And on an unrelated note . . .
What's up with the time stamp being three hours off?

whoa
that's a lot. unless iggy was coming in that deal, i'd say no.

iggy + AI
for
Baron, Monta, Ike, 1st rounder

i'd do that. iggy is a small forward. iggy is young. iggy is sick. iggy is not going anywhere.

Should
Dub nation bend over backwards for them too? yeah, lets throw that in the deal too!

Giving Up Way Too Much
Davis, Monta, Ike AND a 1st rd pick? That is way too much to be giving up just for iverson.  The report said it would be for other Phili players as well, but if we're giving up all that we better get some good players back as well.  The only other players on the 76ers that might interest me though are korver, iguodala and rod carney.  maybe get webber back for his expiring contract and have Nellie make him join foyle at the end of the bench as punishment for screwing this franchise over!!!

REALISM
WE CANT AFFORD PIETRUS, BIEDRINS AND ELLIS.  WE HAVE PLENTY OF GUARDS, SO ELLIS MIGHT HAVE TO GO!  WHATEVER IT TAKES TO LAND AI!  WE WOULD STILL HAVE:

Iverson
JRICH
Pietrs
Murphy
Biedrins

+ whoever else they send.

Btw, here's a scenario that would work IF that one rumor about a 3 way deal involving Chicago had any merit:

by gsdubz on Dec 12, 2006 5:54 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

That's a horrid move
That actually makes the team worse both now: Monta + Baron gives you better than AI type production (37.7ppg, 12.4apg & 7.0rpg) at a higher FG% plus you give up your only low-post scoring threat.

And in the long run.

You take on a bigger contract, get rid of two cheaper, talented peices and don't unload any of your bad contracts.

Ugh . . .

voices in my head
k all that is nutso.

speaking of which, the voices in my head seem to make more sense these days than league sources.. as such. the gnomes in my head told me another possible deal is going down on top of the earlier one they scratched into my brain..

=D

nobody wants to move Korver
not the sixers or the warriors. sorry.

awww
aww i was hoping for a shooter too. lemme shake my head around n see what else my "sources" pop out before i gotta get outta work =)

by nativeson on Dec 12, 2006 6:11 PM PST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

way too much
as i said somewhere else on here, baron for ai is nothing more than a move sideways. mullin said he wouldn't make a trade just to make a trade, and that's what a trade like this would be.

by AJC3317 on Dec 12, 2006 6:09 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Geez talk about going from a low-ball offer to...
over paying...

The Warrior executives are stupid. Plain & simple. If they would've offered a nice mid-level package like the one above (PJ Brown/J-Rich/Murph/AI) then all would be good. Instead they play games and insult the intelligence of Billy King and offer Adonal 'freakin' Foyle.

If I was Billy King, I wouldn't have hung up on Chris Mullin, I would've flown to Oakland International, and thrown the phone at him!

by bigcity7 on Dec 12, 2006 6:11 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

source?
So who in the hell are their sources?  Sure isn't Mully takin.  With all the so called "sources" around it must be a very big room that the talks are in, how else would all the " sources" fit?  Or maybe the phones are bugged.  The reporters are doing the same thing we are, except they get paid for rumor mongering.  Nice job if you can get it.

by Ace Fury on Dec 12, 2006 6:12 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

WTF LOL SOURCES???
who is this source??

i would rather do
baron+jrich+diogu+1st+dunleavy/murphy/foyle for AI,iggy, carney

by chimp on Dec 12, 2006 6:14 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Unless the Warriors get...
AI2 (Andre Iguldla) this will go down as a heist of Hershel Walker proportions.

by bigcity7 on Dec 12, 2006 6:14 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Baron Davis, Monta Ellis, Ike Diogu and a 1st rndr
for AI. Yeah, I think I'd quit being a fan of this team if that were true.

by Jeremy Belvins on Dec 12, 2006 6:18 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

This sounds a little too crazy
even for the Warriors. I would like to have SOME faith that even they can't be this crazy.  No other player on Philly would make this deal even remotely even.  Iguodala doesn't do much for me.  He hasn't gotta a whole lot better lately and if he is ever going to get good, it's probably not going to be on the same team as AI.

Giving away the first rounder isn't even that big a deal.....just saves everyone the heartache of another shitty pick.

by Jud Booshler on Dec 12, 2006 6:21 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

stupid, stupid deal.
This is just downright moronic.

Horrid, horrid stupid move for them to make.

what if
we got ronaldino as part of the deal?  then it'd be a steal!

IF THE WARRIORS DO THAT TRADE...
I'm gonna personally smack the crew cut off Mullins head. You heard it here first, so the trade is really Baron Davis, Monta Ellis, Ike Diogu and a 1st rounder for Allen Iverson and a new hair style.

by Raw26 on Dec 12, 2006 8:02 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

haha
that is ridiculous. i'm not opposed to the other trades on that trade machine. i like those and think that King should consider those. Maybe throw in a 1st round to sweeten that pot. I like Korver, i think he could be a missing piece. We need a pure three point shooter to bail our offense out and keep defenses from packing it in the whole game. It would sure help Biedrins to when he has to kick out of a double team.

by kenntoe on Dec 12, 2006 8:48 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

wait
if that trade were true, Philly would've already done it in a heartbeat.

by kenntoe on Dec 12, 2006 8:49 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

the hell
no way

Hey
Anybody know why Troy Murphy didn't play tonight? Is he cleaning out his locker?

by Raw26 on Dec 12, 2006 10:27 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Why don't they just throw in...
Biedrins while they're at it!

At least that way, the Warriors could really suck, and they'd have a chance to get Oden in the draft.

Oops, that's right, they're giving away our 1st rounder as well...

Unless there's a source, this is false
Dave Bucher on ESPN just reported that Indiana is the frontrunner for the Iverson sweepstakes.  They're dangling Tinsley and Marquis Daniels.  But they can't make a trade until friday because Marquis cannot be dealt until then.

Let Indiana have AI
Monta is untouchable.  He's young, unbelievable potential, and already one of the quickest players in the whole league.  He's more desirable than all but 20-30 players in the whole league.

AI is on the downslope and falling faster each year.  His name is bigger than his impact on the court.

Nothing better than "The City".

by philsmith75 on Dec 12, 2006 10:43 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Monta?
"He's more desirable than all but 20-30 players in the whole league"
How do you reach this conclusion? There'e 30 teams  so is he better than everyone but the best player on all teams? He's about our 4th most desirable behind Baron, Jason and B'Dris so assuming he'd be the 3rd best on the average team that would make him 60th or if he's 4th best on the average team he's be 90th? Nowwhere near even an aging Iverson.
If we were to try and get AI then monta would be the obvious young'en to try and send over there along with some bad contracts. Not worth losing Baron, JR or B'Dris but might be worth losing Monta, I haven't seen much improvement in his game in recent weeks?

by Skeptic con Urquell on Dec 12, 2006 11:24 PM PST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

because
Monta's value isn't just in what he brings now. He's got upside. You have to factor the fact that he's only in the beginning of his second year in the NBA, and he never went to college.

the most meritless rumor ever...
this rumor has 0% merit.  obviously theres no source, its purely fabricated (not by GSoM), but someone on the outside who's nowhere near being inside.  i can't believe i didnt realize it earlier when i posted, i guess i was caught up in the moment.  if we had the balls to offer b.d. or monta, we'd never offer both.  if we offered this, it'd be done, cuz the sixers would have realized they could straight rob us.

by gsdubz on Dec 12, 2006 10:46 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

haha
this rumor makes me laugh. Warriors looked good tonight. When everyone's healthy, this team will be a playoff contender. Sorry AI

For all Warriors fans please don't do it!!!!
PLEASE!!!! I'm sure this was made up in the media... but man does it scare the HELL out of me!  Because if this were to go down I'd call Isiah Thomas a MUCH BETTER GM... I wouldn't want to degrade Mullin like that but... If I'm forced to, I WILL!
