Rumor: Troy Murphy Not in Trade Talks

You knew it wouldn't last long. Here's today's first conflicting report via Mike Spellman of the Daily Herald:

The Bulls have been mentioned in a number of rumors involving Philadelphia's Allen Iverson. The Bulls have no interest in adding Iverson but have sent word that they're open to being involved in a three-team swap if the deal makes sense.

One holdup is the Bulls would like to keep their players with expiring contracts until the Feb. 22 trade deadline, in case a better opportunity comes along.

The Bulls might have interest in Golden State power forward Troy Murphy, but his name has not come up in trade talks, according to a team source. The Warriors have been mentioned as one of the teams looking at Iverson.

You have to love these rumors. If you've been following them closely, Troy Murphy always seems to be the first name to come up on the rumor mill for the Warriors. However, this report says that his name has not come up in trade talks this time around.

On a side note, a Troy Murphy- Ben Wallace big man tandem might be a match made in heaven. They're both great rebounders, but aside from that completely opposite players. It just might be crazy enough to work on the hardwood.

All the rumors:

99% of rumors never happen, but 99% of them are fun to talk about!

Haha
It's so funny how first Troy Murphy is "as good as gone" in one rumor and then in another "he has not been mentioned". I don't know who these "sources" are but I love how they offer all of these conflicting opinions. My goal is to one day be an anonymous source just to stir up rumors.

And by the way, Troy Murphy is not a "great" rebounder by any stretch of the imagination, especially not this year.

Great rebounder
True he's not rebounding well this season, but I think that has to do more with his minutes, the mask, and the way Nellie uses him.

I didn't mean to insinuate that Troy's an all time great rebounder or anything, but in this day and age he's a great rebounding big man. He's not Carlos Boozer, Benny Wallace, or KG, but he's still very good at it.

i actually thought he was a bit soft
doesn't troy just clean up the easy boards?  i don't remember him banging on the offensive glass or being particularly strong in leaping high or anything.  as i recall, he has tended to have a detrimental impact on the team while in the game (last year the warriors were worse when he was in the game, pointwise, than when he was on the bench).

Actually the article, in a way, confirms the...
earlier report of Chicago being used as a facilitator and their interest in Troy Murphy.

He's as good as gone IMO.

Murph to the bulls
Iverson to the W's
Gordan to the 76'ers
--expiring contracts added to make the deal work.

There's no way we could get Iverson for Murphy ...
It's just not going to happen. He's not enough to make Chicago give up Gordon.
