Why the Warriors Should Trade for Allen Iverson

If you've been reading GSoM since this past summer you've seen me list dozens of reasons why the Warriors should trade for Allen Iverson, so I won't bore you and list them again right now during this AI rumor craze. Instead I strongly encourage you to check out these two articles:

I can assure you that you won't be disappointed with either article and you won't be disappointed if the Warriors can swing a trade for Allen Iverson.

Okay I lied. I couldn't resist. Here's ten more reasons to bring AI to the Bay:

bballstar23

I'm all for the trade if the Warriors can keep Andris Biedrins and 2 out of these 3 players: Baron Davis, Jason Richardson, or Monta Ellis. Everyone else on this roster is easy to part with.

Thanks to loyal GSoM community member JB for linking to the Del Grande article earlier.

those are sweet but...
They're all O-L-D. OLD.  One move is on Kevin Willis with the Raps, another is against Jordan on the Bulls, another is against the Charlotte Hornets.  And a few were on the Lakers the only time AI was in the Finals.  I think he is a great player, but I don't know how he would fit on the Warriors.  That being said, I would also do the deal with your stipulations if it ment they had to take a bad contract of ours (Dun or Foyle).

Honestly though, I think the Celtics are nuts if they don't offer Gerald Green, Ratliff, Telfair and a #1 pick for Iverson.  Their bigs are starting to look decent.  Good rebounding plus a Pierce/Iverson/Wally perimeter combo would be a tough team to stop, and could easily get them into the eastern conference finals.  I don't see any other team that could add Iverson and still have enough talent left to become a contender.

somebody
check Marcus Camby's head, cause that looked like it hurt.  Im with Atma on this one, if we have a chance to get Iverson without getting robbed, why not try it.  I know Id grab a jersey in seconds

Those articles
are making me change my mind about Iverson. If we can trade Ellis, Murphy, along with Foyle for Iverson, I would not be hesitant at all. Iverson doesn't have to carry this team the entire game like he did in Philly; he just has to carry us in the half-court set when Baron is taking a breather. Think about how much more explosive they can be when they're well rested. Money-wise we're screwed for the future; Ellis is going to demand a superstar deal - we might as well just let Philly deal with it and resign Biedrins.

you think...
if the W's could have landed AI without giving up Beans and Baron to get him the deal wouldn't already be done. C'mon now. The sixers definitely want both those players in return. Thus no deal.

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

damn.
you're right.  the price is going up.  the market dropped in the beginning as the media tried to sell him low, then everyone realized: what, he's a hall of famer, right?  he's at the top of his game.  he's got no major injuries.  he's got five, maybe seven years left.  i'll take that.

OLD!!!
All of those highlights are 4-10 years old! The only way you trade for AI is if we keep BD and Beans. You can't give up either of these two.

maybe not 10 years
but you get what I'm saying

atma, i agree with everything but
reprinting the whole rumor list so many times.  it's outta hand.

i am loving the 24-hours a day iverson watch, though.

Reprinting Rumor List
I agree it's gotten REALLY long, but I guess that's probably the only problem with the 24-7 AI rumor watch- there's so many posts that it's easy to miss some. That's what the links back are for. It's also intended so that the past discussions aren't lost.

Hmmm... any suggestions on what might work better?

Wow, thats the best trade scenario I've seen!!!!!!
Nicely done.

Seriously you should send that in to Warrior headquaters!

That Is
a really nice scenario, but I think the clippers need something more...

If the clips would've done
Dunleavy for Magette, it would've been done. Sixers get P.J. Brown, who has 2, 3 years max left in him? They get Patrick O'Bryant woh May or may not be good, and no team is really sold on him. So really you might call it a trade between Allen Iverson for a 3 point shooter, an unproven rookie, and a guy at the end of his ropes where all he has to do is to look for a championship (who will probobly want a trade.) And yes, he HAS said this.

Nice try though.
