Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

OPEN THREAD: Game #24: Warriors at Suns

fsn-warriorssun.jpg

Warriors (W-L): 12-11

Suns (W-L): 15-6

Time: 6PM PST

TV: FSN Bay Area

Radio: KNBR 1050

In case you missed it, here's what happened last night in the big win against the Houston Yao Mings:

Let's see if the Dubs can build on last night's CLUTCH win in the Valley of No Defense. Tonight's matchup is going to be fun, gun, run, and more fun. You don't want to miss it. I've heard from one of our NBA insiders that David Stern sent a memo earlier this morning to both squads stating that there will be heavy fines and even possible suspensions if anyone attempts to play anything closely resembling defense tonight.

In case you don't pay the least bit of attention to the National Basketball Association, the Phoenix Suns are on fire, winning 12 in a row. But 13... 13... 13! Oh what an unlucky number. Please head on over to SunsGossip, The Rising Suns, and SBNation diaper dandy Bright Side of the Sun and tell these good people to urge the fellas in orange and purple to lose this one on purpose. We know what's best for them.

Last time around the Suns sucked the life out of the Warrior faithful at the Oracle Arena with a clutch Steve Nash trey. This time things are different. Amare Stoudemire looks even better, Boris Diaw has switched to I Can't Believe It's Not Butter French croissants, and Steve Nash has been rumored to have washed his hair... with shampoo no less! Uh, so yeah I'm predicting a BIG W for the Dubs.

Vegas Odds: Phoenix by 12

Predictions:

  • Warriors by 1 (SHOCK THE WORLD!)
  • Boom Dizzle gives the West coaches more reasons to select him for the Western Conference All Star squad with 20+ points and 10+ dimes
  • Adonal Foyle shows Phoenix that Democracy Matters, but Rejection Matters too
  • Ellis to the rim... Part Deuce!
  • The Warriors hold the Suns' Amare-Matrix-Diaw frontline to a combined 8 points. Ooops, I forgot the zero- I mean 80 points.

Make sure to give us your predictions in the comments before tip off and post any comments you have during the game right here.

THROW UP A W!!

UPDATE: Live Box Score from Yahoo!

UPDATE 2: Warriors lose a close one 101-105

Stay tuned for the recap...

Pietrus knows the score

[Copyright 2006 NBAE (Photo by Joe Murphy/NBAE via Getty Images) care of Yahoo-sports-NBA]

Number 1 x2?
Yao wears 11?
Two in a row baby?
2 for 1, just like Barnett told me!

Also his player edition Air Jordan V's are hot, even if they're more pacers colors than Dubs colors.

Air France, its gotta be the shoes!
-

The Suns have way too many players that can score in bunches. If one guy isn't hot, you know someone else is going to step up in their place.

Is STAT going for 20-10?
Nashty Nash for 20-8?
Marion for 20-15?
Raja for 20?
Barbosa for 20?
Diaw for a triple double?
Jalen Rose for 15?!

All of the above and no bench players score?!

So its going to come down to FT's and more Baron carry-the-team-antics in the 4th when our other players are a bit tentative even after having a good game through 3.

Jordan V's
Those are one of my all time fav's 4 sho, but every time I see them in colorways that differ from the original black/red and white/red it kind of trips me out. Still, a Jordan V Warriors colorway would def be hot.

Pietrus does not rock fakes, they are PE's, he's always been rocking them.

Kind of an under the radar Brand Jordan guy. Unofficial, or just not written in any press releases.

Amare vs. Biedrins
Battle of the two young guns. Should be fun to watch to see how Biedrins handles the big man on the road.

Trivia
Does anyone know which team was win #1 in the Suns 12 game win streak?

Yup, your Golden State Warriors.

We started the streak, so it's only right for us to end it with a pull up, last second 3, just like Nash did in Oakland.

in case any of you are missing
the quality sixers-mavs game on espn right now, i think it's going to be a close one. the sixers' superstars are now free without iverson and c-webb hogging the ball. kyle korver is going to drop 80 points tonight. final score: sixers will win 659-10.

end of the first.  I think I'm gonna stop watching.  We can't defend ANYONE inside 10 feet of the basket.  I've already broken about four various things around the house by throwing them against the wall.  maybe i'll check back in the fourth quarter.

Or we could
just have him NOT PLAY in crunch time. He has CONSISTANTLY proved that he can't perform in crunch time, not an erratic rookie thing. Playing good in crunch time is not something easily "learned". We shouldn't play Bloopy Barnes, Rustic Roberson, or Malignant McLeod at the end of games. All of these guys have ruined games with poor crunchtime performance.

Hey, they're all good, but they just don't perform at the right times!

the good= we shouldn't have even been that close

the bad= we had a chance to win that one. They handed it to us, and we turned it over back to them.

by tadams1080 on Dec 15, 2006 8:21 PM PST reply actions

Oh yeah.
Agreed. There's no way you can be disappointed with their play. Coming off of the back to back, you can just tell that they ran out of gas. Excellent effort none the less.

Top 10
Warriors were half the top 10 yesterday... the Ellis tip to Dun for the dunk, the Pietrus circus shot, FOYLE SWATTAGE, the Davis coast to coast dunk, and ... dam ... forgot the last one...

(Helped that there were only like three games yesterday)

by gsw4life on Dec 16, 2006 4:01 AM PST reply actions

The real reason we lost that game
is because our entire team was exhausted; you could see it out on the court by their lack of explosiveness to get to loose balls and close out on shooters at the end. They were playing hustle defense from the second quarter on. They just ran out of gas at the end. If this wasn't a back-to-back, we would have won.

by racsan on Dec 16, 2006 10:07 AM PST reply actions

Suns tired too
Well, the Suns have been on the road for at least the whole week prior to playing GSW in that game.  They played the previous Friday then 1 day of rest and travel then a back-to-back on Sun and Mon then 1 day rest/travel then a rough game vs. Miami on Wed then 1 day rest/travel to play the Warriors on Friday.  All were road games.
