Recap: Warriors 115, Raptors 120 - Like Pumpkin Bundt Cake

Final Boxscore

I think us Warrior fans need to form a union because this is getting ridiculous. I'm pretty upset and ready to go on strike. The Warriors lost their second of a six game road trip to the Raptors 115 to 120. In my preview, I described this game as a must win in order to stay in the playoff race. I realize we have another 57 games remaining but I believe games against sub-par teams should be must wins, especially when we play teams who do not have their best player...like Chris Bosh. One game below .500, and we are hanging on a thin line with five other teams ready to pass us.

I look to Pietrus, Dunleavy, and Barnes to step up when JRich is out, but they didn't today. Though we shot a high field goal percentage (50%), only Ellis and Baron scored over 20. Two of my predictions came true. Ellis would be the high scorer (28 points) while Baron would post 10+ assists (11 assists). I have to give props to the Raptors with a nice win without star player Chris Bosh. TJ Ford and Morris Peterson played well against our guard tandem and controlled the game.

Yao's response when he found out the Warriors lost to the Raptors sans Bosh!

In honor of Hash's special sandwich the other day, I decided to put my cooking hat on and give you a recipe on how to lose a pathetic game to the Raptors, Holiday Style Bundt Cake:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup packed brown sugar = Warriors give ½ amount of energy!
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon = Apart from Baron, our players basically averaged 1 assist.
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice = Ike plays a solid 7 minutes. Do you know how small a teaspoon is!
2 teaspoons butter or margarine = I like to mix both Morris Peterson and TJ Ford for the finishing touch.

1)  FOR STREUSEL
Combine brown sugar, cinnamon and allspice in small bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until mixture is crumbly.

OR: Play NO defense.

2)  FOR BATTER
Combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt in medium bowl. Beat granulated sugar and butter in large mixer bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add pumpkin, sour cream and vanilla extract; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture.

OR: Play awkward offense.

3)  TO ASSEMBLE
Spoon half of batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle streusel over batter, not allowing streusel to touch sides of pan. Top with remaining batter. Make sure batter layer touches edges of pan.

OR: Play one on three.

4)  To BAKE
Bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in cake comes out clean. Cool for 30 minutes in pan on wire rack. Invert onto wire rack to cool completely. Drizzle with glaze.

OR: Let the kids play. How sweet is that?

Maybe we should lay off the cake until we win?

Look on the bright side:
JRich is supposed to be back tomorrow. If there is a "Great Rebounder in the Sky" (angels weep when Fitzgerald uses this term), the time he's taken to rest this bone bruise will have allowed the rest of his surgically repaired knee some time to heal even better--his knee will be as new, and we'll be sending Posters to the printing press in no time.

Back to reality-based optimism: if they can hang near .500 until the all-star break, hopefully they'll be all healed up and ready to go on a tear.

Props to GSOM
Love the Yao pic with the caption.  That was hilarious.  GSOM recaps blow associated press recaps out of the water.

Some ingredients missing?
from the cake recipe?  It figures, Just like the warriors squad!
That's probably the best cheerleading photo i've ever seen!

BD and Ellis scored. . . .
True.  But was anyone supposed to be keeping an eye on Ford?  And what do the W's do if AB has really hit a wall here?  Hmmmmm.  Very disappointing that the team can seem to recapture that much-needed sense of urgency on the road.  Let's hope that changes tonight; otherwise, it could be a bumpy ride.

Raptors 120 , Warriors115
Doesn't matter, This was a non game, too early in the morning. I didn't know it was on till it was over. Even Baumer doesn't think it's real, no baumerworld report.  So back to reality. NewJersey is a must win( seems like we've heard that before?)
The more we lose the more it's apparent that JRich is a superstar and we need him healthy. Also apparent that the coach doesn't much matter, Montgomery or Nellie same results. I'd like to see a season where we don't have any coach and let the players decide how to win, couldn't be any worse than the results now?

True but..
You gotta admit that Nellie knows his stuff. He puts the players out there who can make the difference, and the fact that they can't perform down the clutch, is not his fault. They gotta want it more, and not turn the ball over in close games. That's on the players.

Where's the defense?
Why did TJ Ford, Bargnani, and Garbajosa all have career games against the Warriors? Why was the first question Ryan from HoopsAddict asked me about Bargnani "scorching" Mike Dunleavy?

Most importantly, why is this "core" still together?

Nellie's doing a great job (aside from the game plan at Houston in the blowout), but this roster needs a shakeup desperately.
