Recap: Warriors 92, Heat 105- We Need a Little... Kapono?

Tonight ugly was spelled K-A-P-O-N-O for the Warriors. Who knew the Warriors could go arctic cold in South Beach?

Final Box Score

A Simple Explanation for the L
It's not rocket science.

  • The Warriors shot themselves out of the building with their ice cold 37.4% shooting. That was frozen tundra cold. Burrrr! Props to Alonzo Mourning for making the Warriors lives miserable tonight. (Actually, that didn't come out right, but you get the point).

  • Over the course of 82 games playing 48 minutes of zone just isn't going to cut it in the NBA. Random "super stars" like Jason Kapono will kill you, which is precisely what happened tonight. Kapono embarrassed the Warriors with a career high 27 big ones. I swear I didn't even know this UCLA product was still in the NBA till this evening.

SportsCenter Highlights
These were pretty inconsequential, but Foyle threw it down on Zo and Monta had a silly finish on a beautiful drive. Also, JRich came out firing in the first half and knocked down a lot of nice shots. So here they are:

Aside from that tonight was K-A-P-O-N-O.

Dwyane "Question" Wade
He might not have had the most eye-popping stat line, but DWade was amazing to watch tonight. Every time Wade did something tonight a different question popped into my mind:

  • How did he do that?
  • When are the Warriors going to start guarding this guy?
  • He did what?
  • Why did the refs gave him that phantom foul?
  • Can we get this guy? Pretty please?

Injuries Piling Up
If you didn't catch tonight's game, be thankful you didn't have to see Monta's arm injury or Anthony Roberson's leg injury. Monta was down on the floor for several minutes in a lot of pain after running into James Posey. It wasn't a pretty sight. Neither was Roberson limping off the court after landing funny going up for a board. Let's hope both of these good fellas get some rest and don't have serious injuries. The same goes for Mickael Pietrus and Troy Murphy.

Warrior Wonder
In stark contrast to the magical win last night, there really wasn't anything wonderful about this game for the Warriors. It wasn't nearly as close as the score indicated. However, one thing that did stand out for the Dubs was Matt Barnes rebounding from a poor first half to chip in a brilliant second half that kept the game from being a complete embarrassment. Barnes finished with 20 points, 12 boards, 5 dimes, 2 interceptions, and 1 swat. Sure the numbers are meaningless in this type of a loss, but these are the type of efforts that let the Warriors fly home with their heads not completely down.

The good news is that wonderful things are in store for the Warriors this week. They'll be at home to take on the Allen Iverson-less 76ers and the Paul Pierce-less Celtics. It should be two easy wins, but then again let's take it one game at a time.

What happened to Monta?
I missed it (I heard it was the shoulder). Was it bad? Is he out for a while?

Just like the game- It wasn't pretty
Ellis, Roberson hurt as Warriors lose to Heat
http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/16309659.htm
But watching Ellis, the team's second-leading scorer, go airborne after getting undercut by Miami forward James Posey and then land directly on his right shooting shoulder, was a sobering sight.

Even worse, Ellis needed several minutes of care on the court before he could even get up and walk to the locker room.

"Monta usually bounces right back up," Warriors guard Keith McLeod said. "Him being down, I thought it was pretty scary."

...

Initial X-rays taken of Ellis' shoulder by the Heat's medical staff ruled out a dislocation, a Warriors spokesman said, but the team plans to follow up with its own doctors over the next two days before Golden State's next game, Tuesday at home against the Philadelphia 76ers.

"That would be a very costly loss for us" if Ellis is seriously hurt, Warriors coach Don Nelson said before warning, "Let's see what it is first. Don't jump to conclusions."

is it me?
Or does Pills get hurt every single game? not surprised since he weighs in at a about a buck and change. Don't get me wrong, the kid can play but he just seems VERY injury prone.
Hopefully this latest injury isn't serious, but on the bright side it looks like Jrich "may" be getting back to normal.

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

that the warriors always seem to have at least 2 people injured? and not just the zarkman but people that really make a difference. can anybody remember the last time our team was healthy?
