Rumor: Warriors Interested in Ron Artest

Here's a piece from Chad Ford's chat on ESPN.com this morning about the much-rumored Ron Artest for Corey Maggette trade talks:

Donald Sterling (LA): When will the Maggette for Artest trade happen? I heard on LA times that it may happen before Friday?

Chad Ford: I'm not sure it's going to happen. LA has interest ... as does Golden State. But I'm not sure the Kings are ready to give up on him just yet. As talented as Maggette is, he's not Artest. One wrinkle you might want to think about. Mike Dunleavy Sr. has been trying to acquire his son ... it's possible to construct a three team trade that has Maggette in Sacramento, Artest at Golden State and Dunleavy in LA. Personally, I think the Clipps should avoid either deal. Artest is proving once again he's a big headache and I just don't think Dunleavy Jr.'s ever going to be much of an NBA player. Someone ought to be offering more for Maggette .... right?

Ron-Ron in the Bay? There's no other player in the league like him in terms of play and mental state. No one can debate that he's a top 15 player when not serving a suspension. No one can debate that he isn't exactly the greatest rapper alive either. Sacramento's trade last season for Artest vaulted them from the Pacific Division cellar (the Warriors resumed that spot when the season was all said and done) and into the Western Conference playoffs, where Artest and the Kings gave the San Antonio Snores some serious headaches.

Just bring Ron-Ron to the Bay and we'll teach him how to spell W-A-R-R-I-O-R-S.

Is Ron Artest the missing piece to ending the Warriors' playoff drought? Would you trade for him?

that's a tough one
I love what he brings, especially something the Ws sorely lack, which is defense obviously. BUT, at the same time, I'm afraid he may affect the team chemistry I feel the Ws are now starting to build. In the short term, getting him is a good move (he does have 2 more yrs left after this yr). But darnit, I like what the Ws are building. I guess it's one of those heads or tails kinda situations.

I'd kill for Artest
I'd kill anyone on GSoM for Artest.

lol.

So you all better pray that Mullin pulls the trigger, or else!

Seriousl though, he's AMAZING, if we got him for "free" like that, hell yeah! We could use someone with [basket]BALLS!  Our guys would keep him from acting up, and Artest would keep us from getting walked all over every night (with the exception of BD, alwasy reppin the West Coast streets).

hell no!!!!!
CANCER!!!! don't want him, he would not fit offensively, he holds the ball forever until he can dream up some crazy move or he just chucks untimely three's. he was horrible when the kings were here a couple of weeks ago, i had kings fans sitting around groaning everytime he took a shot. the chemistry on this team to too good to take that chance. so STOP with the artest talk!!!! if they want a forward i'd rather have paul pierce or kg!!!!!

he would not fit offensively,
"he holds the ball forever until he can dream up some crazy move or he just chucks untimely three's."
     Baron would love him then!
RonRon wouldn't have to play offense here, just clamp down on the D.
The attitude is what's inportant. We got stat players, we could use some in yo face players.

The W's need some attitude on this squad...
and Artest would fit the bill....and we get rid of Dunleavy's contract?!

Are you kidding me? Do it. Now!

Ron Artest in the Bay
Ron Artest playing for Golden State would be interesting considering the fact that he is immensely talented and a guy who has mental issues.  He certainly is a dramatic upgrade from Troy Murphy's little sister (Dunleavy), but at the end of the day, two of the Warriors most pressing issues would continue to plague the team.

The Warriors need interior defense and they need rebounding like a fat kid needs cake.  Ron Artest could help in both areas but he's a small forward; therefore, he'll be asked to defend both in the post and on the perimeter.  In fact, you would like him to be the guy to shut down the Kobes, T-Macs, and Carmellos of the league.  Even if you shift Artest to the power forward spot, which is something Coach Nelson would probably do, he would be outmatched and outsized against the bigger 4's of the league.

Ron Artest in the bay?  I like it, but we need to focus on getting a bonified big man.

Artest
I am not sure I would put him as a top 15 players in the league at all at this point

People forget that he is a very low percentage shooter (.414%) who seems intent on shooting even more as he goes along

No doubt a great defender who could be a very good player if he weas more selective on the other end but I don't see him doing that

....do the Warriors really need another low percentage shooter who seems to have a borderline personality disorder?
