JRich Could Be Out for 2 Months with a Broken Hand

Jason Richardson's tough season got even tougher last night as he broke a bone in his right hand. The injury was most likely caused by an accidental kick from Mickael Pietrus while MP2 was trying to swat a shot. JRich could be out up to 8 weeks, but a definitive timetable hasn't been set yet. We'll keep you updated.

It's been painful watching JRich struggle this season. After an amazing season in which he thrilled Warriors Nation with his usual dunks, improved 3pt accuracy, and never quit attitude, Jason has struggled mightily this season with career worst's in pretty much every statistical category after a minor off-season knee surgery. We haven't seen the real JRich this season and Nellie agrees:

"We haven't seen the real Jason Richardson anyway," Nelson said. "There was somebody disguised as him playing. Hopefully it's not too much of a setback for him or us. His knee should be really healthy (when he returns)."

Everyone's going to miss JRich out there and it's good to see his teammates got his back:

"That always hurts," Golden State's Keith McLeod said of the injury. "Jason's a great guy and brings a lot to this team. It's unfortunate that happened. I just pray for Jason and wish him the best. We'll see what happens."

You have to feel for the man. JRich is the heart and soul of this squad. Everyone here wishes him a successful recovery and nothing but the best. He will be sorely missed.

With JRich out for a big chunk of the remaining part of the season, someone has to step up and help Baron Davis shoulder the scoring load. Who will it be?

Scoring Load...
Someone definately has to step up. Forget about asking Dunleavy to step up because that's like asking a baby to run a mile. We're in dire need of some PG help and don't understand why the Warriors have not made any FA signings. I say we pick up another PG or make a move. Now is the time to pick Maggette. If all it takes is for us to add a draft pick along with Dunleavy then I say do it. We compile so many picks and most of the time it feels like we're drafting an All D-League team i.e. Tim Young? Todd Fuller? Patrick O'Bryant? Maybe we can pick up J-Rich's former Michigan St. teammate in Mo Peterson. J-Rich will be out for a long time and don't expect anything much when he gets back because i'm pretty sure a broken hand will have you making some adjustments in your shot. I wish for a quick return but realistically I know it'll be a long way to recovery. Here's who I'd go with temporarily:

PG B Davis
SG Pietrus (Until Ellis is back)
SF Barnes
PF Diogu
C  Biedrins

i agree
someone does need to step up, but a trade is also needed. We need to make a big move to save this season. Tough break for J-Rich, the guy has so much heart. Look for him to bounce back as quickly as possible and get in shape.

no panic moves
Monta will be back and we have essentially been without the "real" JRich all season anyway ... Maggette isn't coming (the Clips would be insane to help us while we battle them for the 8th spot, and taking MDjr's contract to boot) so we need to refocus on our true need which is still a quality 4 who could rebound and score a bit - unless Murphy rounds into shape from his injury and begins to deliver on the scale he did last year. If we have anyone on the roster who isn't performing up to his potential right now, it's TM. Even then, we need quality depth on the front line, and it isn't on the roster right now regardless of Murphy ... Ely and Magloire are back in play on the trade front, would either be available for the right price?

No one is going to step up.
We're screwed.

On the off chance that Baron continues to dominate and doesn't wear down, and we manage to stay at or above .500 until Jrich comes back with 90% healthy legs, we could make a final push into the place I dare not speak of.

repeat, do not panic
look at the standings - look at the post The Way West - there are some flawed teams 6-12

If JRich comes back with fresh legs he'd be like a second trade-deadline addition - but will only make a difference if there is a "first" addition, or TM steps up B I G time ...
