Recap: Warriors 89, Spurs 129 - ALMOST HAD' EM!

Ouch. Last night was a bloodbath.

I have to say, I'm starting to get a little confused. The Warriors are becoming the most unpredictable team in basketball. This isn't to say that there was anything unpredictable about the Warriors losing to the Spurs on their home floor (despite my bold prediction in the Open Thread), but it's getting rather tough to predict the brand of basketball we're going to see from this team.

Take last night for instance. They played like insufferable garbage. Can't predict that!

What happened last night? Where were the Warriors that beat the Spurs last time? Last night we saw an entirely different team. In fact, I think there may only be one commonality that I can share between last night and our previous game against the Spurs...

I'm speechless.

Duncan: "We're winning by HOW much?!"

I can dive into the box score for this recap, but I think everyone knows what they saw last night. It was over in the first quarter. Terrible looks, terrible shots and wasted possessions galore. If one thing was right about my prediction in the open thread, it was that the Spurs did NOT take our wasted possessions lightly. They were scoring at will on us.

When the smoke cleared in the first, we managed to walk away with a whopping 14 points. Just to put that in perspective, that's the lowest point total in a quarter that the Warriors have put up all season. We were truly Monty's finest out there last night.

Damn. I can't talk about it anymore. It was all around trash. Going 4-16 from beyond, putting up 34 boards to their 51 boards; we got destroyed. Let me just list the good things from last night and move on with the hope that tonight's game washes this bad taste out of our mouths.

1) Roberson. Nice to see he can produce! Too bad he was one of the only ones.

2) Baron had such a nasty crossover that I broke my ankles just by watching it.

3) I did two loads of laundry and a whole sink of dishes in the second half after I gave up on paying close attention to the game.

4) In the fourth quarter I remembered that I had some leftover tri-tip in the fridge and made an incredible sandwich. Lil' mayo, lil' mustard, peppers, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, some garlic... Almost made watching the game worthwhile!

Warrior Wonder: My sandwich. It was just that good.

Anthony Roberson after the game:
Talking to a teammate. Man it sucks that we lost so bad tonight. But it was nice to see some playing time. You know I have one good thing happen though. The teammate asks whats that. Well I've been a loyal follower of the Golden State of Mind website and I know I have to be a lock for Warrior Wonder. So far in my NBA career this is my biggest accomplishment and I'm so proud of it.

After returning to his hotel that night. Roberson logs onto his computer. From the near by rooms all they can hear is stuff being thrown around everywhere. And also hear Anthony yelling. A sandwhich, a $^%$&$% sandwhich. What the F is that.

News has come out early this morning Roberson is now considering retirement, stating it's just not worth it anymore.

I concur....
I'd take a nice sandwich with lots of garlic over the warriors right now....yum.....

RARE SIGHTING ALERT
Almost exactly this time last year I saw a bear and her cub in the woods around my house while mushroom hunting (no, not THAT kind...)

This year I followed up my rare sighting tradition with a sighting just as rare.......Adonal Foyle! And to make it even more incredible, not just an Adonal Foyle, but tagging along were 6 points!

Adonal...
Foyle is shooting 91% for the season.  He's only missed one shot.

Playoffs?
Might be a good thing that we don't make the playoffs? It would be embearassin to have to play the Spurs 4 in a row.
But look at the bright side, tonight we get to  take it to the rim against Yao!

POB
It was good to see O'Bryant get some burn last night.  By the way, he led the team in assists (4 in 12 minutes).  I like igs that can pass.

I don't like to cry about
officiating, but man, it's tough playing against the best team in the league and against the refs...I was listening to the game on KNBR and Tim Roye kept saying the refs didn't call fouls committed by the Spurs and called ticky-tack fouls on the Ws. Being a west coast team (the Bay Area in particular) seemingly doesn't help the Warriors. Refs just don't give us respect even if we have a legendary coach.

Quickies
Well, I'll make this super quick and just pass the mic to Nellie for this one:
"We were totally dominated...it looked like the pros playing the high school team out there tonight."

Yup, that pretty much sums it up.

Biedrins' haircut
anyone notice how funny looking Biedrins' hair looks on that recap? i think they need to update their player pics because i don't think Biedrins ever had that weird mushroom-hair.

Sandwich from deep?
Hash does your sandwich have range? Cause I think it  could have shot better than the starting lineup last night last night (29%).  Or if it prefers slashing we could always have "SANDWICH TO THE RIM!!!".  In all seriousness, watching last nights game hurt, it was literally painful to sit there.  What I'm  really worried about  is JR.  He is sitting out because of soreness in his knee which makes me think its not all the way recovered yet.  The thing  I love most about J-Rich is his willingness to play through just about anything, but he could be destroying his future out there by trying to play when his knees just can't keep up with him.
