Game #19: Warriors @ Rockets

Warriors (W-L): 9-9

Rockets (W-L): 11-5

Time: 5:30PM PST tip off

Okay here are some positives after last night's defeat.

  1. It can only get better.
  2. At least everyone (except Adonal) is rested. 2nd day of a back to back isn't so bad if nobody really tried on the 1st day.
  3. Hash's sandwich.
Houston is the team that submarined our season last year. Remember Luther Head with the game tying 3 to send the game to OT? Then we got stomped in OT and stomped the rest of the year. Let's make this the game that turns the season around, this time for the better. The Warriors need to show some heart and hustle tonight after getting blown by 40.

Houston's good but they're beatable especially since TMac is questionable after Dikembe's elbow to the head. Tmac, you need to rest and get better. Please don't play, all of us Warriors fans just want to see you 100%. So if you can't play at 100% tonight, then it's best you take it easy. Please?

Let's get Nellie win #1200.

Update: From a story from chron.com, apparently TMac is going to play tonight. In that article they also list Dikembe's many "victims" due to his elbows flying every which way.

Vegas Odds: Houston favored by 7.5 points
GSoM Predictions:

  • Warriors win by 3.
  • Game is decided by less than 40 points
  • Rockets' bench, unlike the Spurs' bench, does not nearly outscore the Warriors entire team
  • Baron goes for 25 points, 12 assists, 5 rebounds
  • Just like Nate Robinson did, Monta Ellis blocks Yao and makes him cry.

In the Comments, make sure to drop your vote for who you think will win. If you're watching or listening near a computer, post any comments you have during the game right here.

Time to step it up.

LET'S GO WARRIORS!

UPDATE: Live Box Score from Yahoo!

UPDATE #2: Warriors lose, 118-90.

Stay tuned for the recap...

Warriors bounce back
I'm going to say Warriors by 5 if McGrady is out. Also with Dunleavy not starting, Battier doesn't have anyone to abuse so he becomes a non factor.

Should be interesting
I think it will be a close game personally. No way Nellie will let the Warriors stink that badly again. Warriors always seem to play well against the Rockets and Mavs. I have to disagree on the Ellis block and making Yao cry. Nice prediction but still a fantasy. Word is Tmac is a go for tonight out of Houston.

Prediction: Warriors win
People start jumping back on the bandwagon. It's sad how many people turned already. There young, there injured, they have a new coach. Give it time. They have a good core right now. Smile and relax.

Side note: I think on one of the side colums on the main page, you should keep a runnning total of the Warrior Wonders for each game.

from what i hear...
I think T-Mac is going to play. I'm not sure how much, but I think this will affect the game. I hope Andris blocks Yao, and limits him inside. Go dubs!

Whether T-Mac is playing or not
We're gonna win... I can just feel it.  It's one of those classic "our back's against the wall and we're playing a playoff team" feelings where you just know it's gonna get done.  I'm thirsty for blood... and the Rockets have red on their jerseys... V8 tomato juice... damn Baumer... that guy is a genius.

by mightymadskillz on Dec 5, 2006 2:17 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Predictions
Warriors by 9, since they can't win close games against any team except the Mavs.
Biedrins gets in early foul trouble, so Foyle comes in early.
Foyle misses a shot.

Vegas Odds: Houston favored by 7.5 points
When I first read that I thought it said  "Houston favored by 75 points"   and was thinking that's a bit harsh? Maybe 30 ??
7.5 is actually a pretty positive line after last night's blow out. Was that the without TMac odds?
This is why we needed to win the pacers, bucks, etc. games so we don't have to worry so much about the harder teams.
Prediction...Yao pokes Roberson in the eye to block his dunk attempt, Roberson pops up and hi-fives Yao and yells out "I'm not a tree to be chopped down",  The crowd gives them a standing ovation.

Oooops
I thought I did put Houston by 75. That period must have snuck in there. I'm sure there are people who would still bet on Houston.

by dlyrious on Dec 5, 2006 3:33 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Warriors by 2
In a close one, 90-88

Houston can't turn the offense on as well as the Spurs can, outside of Yao who is nearly automatic, so we'll be able to keep up through 3.

Then in the 4th we take over in the last few minutes.

-

If its another 40 point blowout game, Rafer and Monta go one on one iso everytime down with some announcer with a megaphone going "OH BABY!" to promote Monta and Barnes' AND(onal)1 sneaks.

LOL
OH BABY!

Tell me that doesn't get the least bit annoying on those And1 mix tapes. That guy needs a new line or at least mix in a few. I swear he's got 2 words in his entire vocabulary.

The Pietrus Watch
I had to register to share my thought(s) on this guy. Does have more in him than the spot up three move and the open-floor confusion move?

by justin on Dec 5, 2006 4:14 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

LOL
the open floor confusion move...that is classic. Piety has been working on perfecting that move over the past three season. I don't think anyone in the league can come close to him on that one.

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

How does this 1 game while on the end of a back to back, on the road, to a team with 1 of the best records this year and 1 of our main stars injured. Mean that the whole season being down the drain.

i wanna stay positive..
but i guess this is a reason why Warriors dont' get that much national attention. injuries have taken a toll on this club, but still... 20 pt. disadvantages after the first isn't a good sign though.

by dj fuzzylogic on Dec 5, 2006 6:29 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

is it powdered garlic or fresh garlic
or minced garlic on that sandwich? curious... sometimes i make some garlic fries at home when i'm watching the games on TV to recreate the feeling that I'm at the Oracle arena.

by dj fuzzylogic on Dec 5, 2006 6:31 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

mmmm...
what are your thoughts on these nachos??? do you have to dice the garlic? is it just whole garlic cloves thrown over the nachoes when you bake? sounds like it would make for some really bad breath later. i'm still gonna try it though... THANKS!

by dj fuzzylogic on Dec 5, 2006 10:14 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Do you have to dice the garlic?
No, Just peel them and oil them put them on a cookie sheet for about 30 minutes and they'll get soft enough to kinda pull apart. They lose the strong smell when baked and mellow out in taste. Your girlfriend will probably be eating so many that she won't be able to smell your breath anyway!

65-44 at half
Warriors finish with a nice lil run. But yea they did that yesterday at the half too.

Hmmm
I AM A WITNESS TO ADONALS GREATNESS!

He did a fairly good job on holding off Ming Yao.

Otherwise....ewww. At least we went into the half with a burrito left our overnight, rather than a burrito left in the back of the freezer for 3 weeks.

by Zorgon on Dec 5, 2006 7:51 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

if you watched all of the last two games
pat yourself on the back, that's loyalty. my roomate is from Houston and we bet on this game, adding insult to injury. Just a pathetic two games, but with Nellie's strong leadership I really don't see this as destroying our season. I mean, honestly, all of the Texas teams are really good. We seem to have trouble guarding elite big guys - good thing there aren't that many of them.

by gsw4life on Dec 5, 2006 7:53 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

crazy
this was ugly ... but Yao played well. You guys ever see the movie "Old School"? Nellie needs to line our players up on the balconey and see who really wants to play for this team.
Back to back blowouts is a bad sign.

But this might be what we need to light a fire and go 10 and 2 for the next 12?
maybe?

Jackson's 3 pointer
I can't believe we haven't won since that shot.  Now we have to wait until Saturday to play again.  I can't WAIT until we win a game and can breathe again and get over that.  9-10?  Oh man.

by gsdubz on Dec 5, 2006 8:03 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Guys
there's an obvious factor missing here....J-Rich!

I'm normally not one of the guys who thinks he's a god orr anything, but I think he is the key to our heart. His points come at the right times, and really do give us a boost. Trading him would set us back 3 years. I'm kind of incoherent because I'm tired, but JRich is what we need to win games. Just sit back for these losses right now, and wait for JRich to come back fully healed. A couple more losses won't hurt us as much as a huge JRich season ending injury.

Baron may be the points,
Pietrus may be the hustle,
Biedrins may be the blocks,
Murphy may be the rebounds,
Ellis may be the energy,
Dunleavy may be the Dunleavy,
but JRich is the heart, and that is much harder to replace.

(I still love you PJ!)
