Jamaal Magloire

I live in Milwaukee and the very unhidden rumor of the city is that the Bucks are going to move center Jamaal Magloire in the offseason

Star-divide

Milwaukee needs to move Magloire in the off season to move last years #1 overall Andrew Bogut to his natural position of center.

Rumors have Golden State, Memphis, Toronto and Minnesota already talking to the Bucks about the center Magloire.

So if you were Chris Mullin would you make a deal and what would you offer?

Nice to see Warriors Nation extends to the upper midwest!

Clem- what's the deal with Magloire? You probably see him much more of his game than any of us in the Bay Area.

What are the pro's and con's to his game? I've seen him play a little, but haven't been that impressed.

He's a definite upgrade over Foyle, but is he a real difference maker? Would he really make the Warriors that much better compared to the Warriors making a move for the available Corey Maggette?

Mags
I've seen a ton of Magloire, but mostly from this season and the last couple in Hornet/Bucks games.  Milwaukee traded for him in training camp from NO/Oklahoma City for F Desmond Mason & a first round pick.

The deal for Milwaukee is they are looking to open up their offense for Bogut and you could see Magloire and Bogut stepping all over each other in the post at the end of the season.  It really came to hamper Bogut's offensive development as he is a player that needs the lane to operate.

Magloire's strengths:  First and foremost Magloire is a legitimate physical prescence in the lane.  At 6-11" 260 he does not get moved around and he does not get intimidated by anybody.  I've seen Shaq hit him in the mouth and Magloire doesn't flinch.  He is one of those guys who seems to always have a cut lip or a bloody mouth.

That being said he is great on the boards.  He averaged 9.5 this season (in a frontcourt that had him, Bogut (7/per) + Joe Smith (5/per).  On a more open team he would have averaged 11+. (He was 7th in the NBA in boards per 48 minutes) He's a decent post up player, featuring a right handed baby hook.  Gets alot of offensive second chance points and is a monster in creating space in baseline screens.

Weaknesses:  Jamaal's body type makes this natural, but if you are looking for a big man who is good in transition...he ain't it.  He has little range on his jumper.  He is only going to block about 1/per game.  And he does not naturally draw a double team unless he backs his man down.

Also understand that next season is the last on Magloire's contract.  He is 28 years old and will demand high dollars on the free agent market.

Hmm...
Sounds like someone we could use. A gritty big man with a back to the basket game. It actually is nice that he doesn't have a jumper since we don't want anyone else shooting threes. What about his defense? And would the Bucks be interested in Troy Murphy? He's an OK rebounder who has a little range. Not much if you're looking for back to the basket, though. But he would provide room for Bogut since he's outside a lot.

And the truth is, I'd rather have a back-to-basket center than a small forward like Maggette since we have no inside presence, but we have a lot of good players out on the wing. We could trade for Maggette and then draft Rodney Carney to fill our small forward spot.
