Rumor: Mike Dunleavy + Mickael Pietrus for Corey Maggette

From Stan McNeal of SportingNews.com:

But here's an All-Star type even more likely to be moved: Clippers forward Corey Maggette. Apparently, he doesn't want any part of a sixth-man role, and the Clippers don't want to be told how to play him. So how about Maggette to the Warriors for Mike Dunleavy and Mickael Pietrus? Both the Clippers' Mike Dunleavy and the Warriors' Mike Dunleavy would be happy about that.

B Diddy + JRich + Maggette = Playoffs

Normally, I'd say that moving Mike Dunleavy for Corey Maggette would be a steal for the Warriors, but with the new NBA Game Ball you never know. Also, I'm worried that trading MP2 away to a division rival could blow up in the Warriors' face. Air France has struggled, but there's no denying he has talent.

Paperclip by day, X to the Z by night!

99% of rumors never happen, but 99% of them are fun to talk about!

Would you trade Mike Dunleavy and Mickael Pietrus to the Paperclips for Xzibit look-a-like Corey Maggette?

Is this really a rumor?
I think this is just a proposed trade like Murphy +9th for 2nd and 16th. Won't happen

Sheeeeshhhhh!
How exactly would this work under the cap rules where Dun's just entering BY?  The only way to trade MD this year -- absent some team being willing to swallow an enormous amount of cap space -- would be to include him as part of a bigger package -- and even then it's really difficult.  So, when fantasizing trades (How about AB for Bosh? Or Garnett?  Or O'Neal?), let's try to stay in the realm of reality.  The W's trade pieces are: Murph, MP, Fish, Foyle, BD and AB (they'd be nuts to trade JRich or any of the three rooks from last year).  The first three -- and maybe AB -- have trade value.  They're the ones to focus on.  And when the dust settles, MD will be the sixth man on the team  this year -- right where he should be.

Very true
Because of the BYC rules, I would be shocked if Dunleavy got traded within the next two years.

I just thought it would be fun to throw out this idea that this TSN columnist offered. It's very practical and Dun Sr. has been rumored to want to coach his son and not like coaching Maggette.

Everything makes sense except for the money which unfortunately means it probably won't happen.

We Must Do Something
This is my first time on here, and I gotta give the thumbs up to whoever's in charge.  I decided to see if a Warriors blog existed after the draft the other night and here I am.  I sensed a need to vent my frustrations with this franchise (been a fan since I was a young pup and Webber came on board) and it's nice to see I'm among friends.  Just thought I'd offer my thanks to whoever put this together.  It's much needed now, and surely will be if the team decides to stick with this roster and not make some moves.  There's no way this team's going anywhere unless Mullin pulls his head out of his ass and imports some talent besides J Rich.

NY in the house!
We're happy to have you on board! Golden State of Mind and our previous incarnation have been around for over a year. Flip through the archives for more stuff.

Just curious, how did you find us?

You're not just among friends here. As we say on the West Coast, you're among folkers... in 880 and 101 traffic!

Pussy?
If "pussy" means that Mullin is like a female, and female because he's "scared," then we should remember that there are plenty of females who have more "balls" than males. Anyone think they can school Sheryl Swoopes? Or for that matter, any guys think they could deal with giving birth?

Mullin may well be scared, or even what some might call a punk. But I would never equate being scared with being female. I say this not only to chimp, who I assume said simply what he thought would express his opinion of Mullin most vividly; I say it for all of us who are accustomed to thinking of "pussy" and its related terms when we think of weakness or fear, when we want to slam a male for how he acts. By refusing to use such terms for such purposes, we stand up for our mothers, sisters, daughters, and all other females who are important in our lives. Ask BDiddy if his grandma was brave or scared.

Thanks man
I appreciate that post mikej.

Let's try to keep it 100% fun, clean, and socially conscious. That's how we do it on Golden State of Mind and in the Bay.

I have no doubt in my mind that chimp meant well, but mikej brings up a valid point that fits with the style of the Golden State of Mind community.

We have a lot of female readers too. Let's always make sure to show them respect and make them feel comfortable.

GSM is space where everyone should feel comfortable... even Dunleavy fans!
