Rumor: Iverson Will Play for Warriors

Allen Iverson had a press conference yesterday as part of his annual charity softball event. Of course, the gossip hungry reporters (not that we aren't guilty of that either!) couldn't pass up the opportunity to ask AI about all of the trade rumors.

AI's as loyal as a dog and as expected said the following:

"I want to be a Sixer, I have said that since Day 1"

The good news for fans of other NBA squads is that he also said:

"But if I am not wanted, then I definitely don't want to be a Sixer and I am willing to start my career all over."

The great news for Warrior fans is that Iverson also noted:

"As long they don't send me to the CBA, I'll play for any team"

Hey guess what? THE WARRIORS ARE ANY TEAM! The Dubs are a small step above the CBA too! Iverson will play here and play hard.

Do you really think that if you teamed up Allen Iverson, Baron Davis, and Jason Richardson, who are all hungry for the playoffs, have something to prove, and maybe even have a little chip on their shoulder, the Warriors wouldn't make the playoffs? The Warriors could start Monta Ellis at the Center spot and newly acquired Devin Brown at the 4 with that threesome. They're making playoffs. No question. Nothing's stopping them. Not even the clowns. It's a no-brainer, just like the Warriors' (mis)management.

Chris and Rod make it happen... Chris and Rod make it happen... Chris and Rod make it happen... Chris and Rod make it happen... Chris and Rod make it happen...

Estimate the chances that the Warriors would make the playoffs with The Answer, Boom Dizzle, and JRich playing together.

I say... ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLLARS- muhuahahahaha! Oh wait, sorry I'm watching Austin Powers on DVD. I meant to say One Triple-Oh!

Even Dr. Evil's no match for a Boom-Rich-Answer trio!  [image from SuperHonda.com]

Final thought: Loyal Golden State of Mind reader DaAzNJRiCh noted that recently waived Will Bynum's jersey is number #3. Guess which soon to be traded 76er sports #3 also?

Wait, don't answer! Instead pray for The Answer.

at least he can catch the ball

One ball, three egos.
I can see it now, a fistfight at mid court over the ball between AI, BD and JR.  One of them will kick it out so the other two won't get it and POB will pick it up for an easy dunk!

Hahaha
The funny thing is that's a better drawn up play than anything Monty had the Warriors run last year!

True
I agree that having Davis, Iverson, and Richardson would end up with in-fighting.  I could see it now, Baron driving to the basket and AI steals the ball and flips up a shot which JRich blocks.  In RUN TMC, each player knew their role, but in Davis-Iverson-Richardson, there are only 2 roles- Davis and Iverson run one on one plays and JRich just hopes someone misses so he can get the offensive rebound.

I've said it before...
...and I'll say it again.  Baron and AI on the same team is like Marbury and Francis on the same team.  Both need to dominate the ball to be effective.  J-Rich's shot attempts will probably drop like a rock.  And J-Rich will get abused by small forwards.  Sure, it could be really exciting and they might grab the 8th seed, but there's no chance of getting out of the first round.

You guys really need to stop posting stuff about Iverson, it's not happening.

8th seed?
We'll take it!

The Warriors need to be put back on the NBA map. It starts with the playoffs.

We just post the Iverson stuff because the Warriors are reportedly one of the possible suiters and they're in the news. Just like we post the Al Harrington and Troy Murphy rumors. It's what's out there. Unlike a Harrington deal, an Iverson deal would be incredible.

The rumors are fun, but the Warriors need to actually pull a big trade off. Otherwise, at the end of summer we're all just going to talk about how Warriors' (mis)management just got played again.

Thx
Yay I'm Loyal. I guess thats what it means to be a Warrior Fan. But I also just realized that Al Harrington is a certain number too.

WHY!?!?!
Why would we do such a bone headed thing like sign another selfish ego point guard? Do we not realize that our front line could get beat up by a boy-band?
Why would we trade away our starting PF for ANOTHER point guard? No matter how many points he scores. Although I bet we could play him at the 5 and he'd be more effective than that damn Adonal Foyle....
The Bimbo Coles era has BEGUN!!!

To answer your question...
I think a team with AI, BD, JR, and not much else are more likely to miss the playoffs then make it. I'd almost go as far as saying it'd be similar to the chances of a team with Marbury, Steve Francis, and Eddy Curry making it to the playoffs. In the current state, bringing in AI wouldn't solve our problems.

I think the best scenario would be to trade TMurph and if necessary, with MP2 or Taft, for Harrington. This only because Foyle and Dunnothing are impossible to move. I'd trade Dunleavy for ANYONE if possible.

So, the Harrington trade and Mario Elie as head coach and we are set to go.
