GSoM Contest: America's Next Biggest Warriors Fan

Think you got what it takes to be America's Next Biggest Warriors fan?

Are you a real Golden State Warriors fan? Has twelve years of mediocrity killed your confidence in the Warriors? Not sold that the most recent draft picks--The Chef O'Bryant and Kosta Coast--will be the next coming of the twin towers, ala Olajuwon and Sampson? Are you soon joining or have already joined the Bull bandwagon like I have?

There are a lot of so-called Warriors fans out there; but we at the Golden State of Mind like to think that we are and have the best ones on this site--from here all the way to Osaka, Japan!  Here is your chance to express and claim your true commitment to the Warriors as their (un)official loyalest fan ever!  In our on-going attempt at building up our Warriors online community, come and participate in our first ever essay writing contest sharing and explaining why you love the Warriors despite the organization's inability at putting together a winning season and legitimate playoff run!

We are looking for a unique blend of humor and passion that we think defines us at the Golden State of Mind.  Feel free--in fact, we urge you--to draw upon as many diverse, if not random, personal experiences or issues to explain your love and passion for the Warriors--coliseum food, cheerleaders, exciting play (ha..), best throwback jerseys, Mullin's haircut, Golden State of Mind website, etc, etc.  Winners will be awarded great Warriors prizes and winning essays will be showcased on our website in the near future.  We look forward to reading your essay!

See below for paper topic, rules, guidelines and regulations.

Topic:

Why I love the Warriors even though they've missed the playoffs for 12 straight seasons

Rules:

Maximum of 500 words (you can easily write a winner in 250)

Guidelines:

  • Try to plug in some pictures with captions
  • Bring your own personal style!
  • Keep it PG-13. Golden State of Mind is a family site!
(suggestion: feel free to quote/cite some of your favorite articles/ideas listed in our GSoM archive  if necessary to help make your point!)

Grading Scale:

  • Fun
  • Style
  • Creativity
  • Knowledge of the Game
DEADLINE:

SEPTEMBER 1st, 11:59pm PST!  Any submissions after this time will not be reviewed.

To enter the contest send an email to goldenstwarriors@gmail.com with

*Essays will be judged on creativity, original content and a novel and focused thesis statement.  There is a zero-tolerance plagiarism policy.  This contest is open to fans of all ages. In other words, this is an all-ages fan site; swearing and highly explicit materials in your essay will lead to an automatic disqualification.  Racist, sexist, and homophobic comments will also lead to a disqualification and banishment from the GSoM forever.  Just kidding on the latter!  But we do take these issues very seriously.  If you have any questions about whether or not your paper might include any of these elements, feel free to email us at goldenstwarriors@gmail.com Good luck!

entry limit...
I just wanted to know if there was a limit to the nuber of entries we were allowed to do.  I had a few different ideas that I wanted to enter in.

We love the enthusiasm!
We should limit it to 1 entry per person though.

We're looking forward to your submission!

It's sooo hard
Not that I'm eligible, but I was thinking about why I'm a Warriors' fan and couldn't really come to a conclusion. It's so hard to be a Warriors fan because of the losing and there don't seem to be many logical reasons. I'm excited to see what people come up with.

Why I'm a Warriors fan
Like Fantasy Junkie I'm both not eligible or sure why I'm still a Warriors' fan. Maybe the Warriors just suck so bad, it's just funny? I'm really curious what people come up with. It going to be fun to read them and publish the winners.

Great question
Nope, don't worry about counting the captions for pictures toward the 500 word limit. Just no 250 word captions!
