Rumor: Bulls Shopping Tyson Chandler for Troy Murphy

From Chris McCosky of The Detroit News:

They [the Chicago Bulls] have been shopping 7-footer Tyson Chandler around the league in hopes of getting a more offensive-minded big man, perhaps someone like Golden State's Troy Murphy or Utah's Carlos Boozer

Troy Murphy is superior to Tyson Chandler offensively, but Chandler is superior to Murphy on the defensive end. If this were to go down for the Warriors it would be a trade for defense. Another drawback with Tyson is that he shows some of the same one minute man syndrome that plagues the Warriors' Andris Biendrins. Chandler's 3.8 fouls in under 27 minutes of play is a big red flag. Still, Tyson's only 24 and could be the next Ben Wallace. Everyone likes playing with an enforcer.

When not drawing fouls, Tyson is an inside FORCE

Would you trade defensively challenged Troy Murphy for offensively challenged Tyson Chandler?

Think Again on Troy?
I'm starting to get a little worried with so many teams going after Troy. Maybe that should be a red flag to trading him. Maybe he's better than we seem to think.

Enforcer?
I wouldn't call Chandler an enforcer... He's still a twig.  If we trade Troy for Chandler we may possibly have the most inept offensive front line in the league.  Chandler is foul prone and injury prone.

no to chandler
chandler re-upped his contact for a undisclosed amt.  we don't know how much he's getting paid...While defense is a major problem still, I dont' think having another decent shotblocker a la foyle with the same offensive skills sets is really what we need.  Perhaps the offense that Chandler has been steeped in hasn't allowed for him to get many touches, but if a guy only avgs like 3 shots a game, that's saying a lot.

but i am all for trading murphy.

Monty
Yes, but only if Chicago takes Suckleavy and/or Monty as well.

Murphy
I have to whole-heartedly agree with the sentiment that Murphy is better than people seem to think.   He's a big body that can rebound, get a little physical and extend the defense.

I would argue that the problems with the Warriors fall directly on the 2 and the 3.

Richardson is realistically an average shooting guard. (probably an unpopular viewpoint, but hey it's just an opinion) He needs to be much better and quite frankly I don't know how he'll ever get there.

And Dunleavy...well...geez.  A very nice player, but a complimentary player who quite frankly seems very unmotived.

In fact most of the roster seems to be complimentary players.  This team needs a star and fast.
