not dead yet.....

Well, looks possible that Al Harrington may not be a Pacer after all.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2536841

This could get interesting, I personally think that the warriors should put some interest into this again.  I know he isnt our savior but he can play PF and if we can pull of a deal from Maggete than that could get something going.  The W's arent perfect with these two guys but its a start, it could get us smelling playoffs.  I'm still under the belief that we trade Dunleavy, Pietrus to the Clips for Maggette andMurphy and a second round pick (possibly throw in Biendrins too) for Harrington.  I think in doing this could be big.  Then bring over Kosta Costa!!!!!  If we have no one else why not, see if he ca do anything, whats the point of drafting the guy if you dont plan on him making the team?  I'm not saying he's going to be fantastic or anything but why not?

My new starting linups

With Maggette and Harrington
PG: Baron
SG: J Rich
SF: Maggette
PF: Harrington
C: Whoever (maybe foyle just for defense)

With Maggette only
Pg: Baron
SG: J Rich
SF: Maggette
Pf: Murphy
C: Whoever

With Harrington
Pg: Baron
SG: J rich
SF: Dunleavy
PF: Harrington
C: Whoever

Harrington...
...will not help the Warriors. He's an OK rebounder, and can slash. That's it. He's not even a good scorer. As the FRANCHISE PLAYER on the Hawks, he could only muster 18 PPG. That's pathetic for a go-to-guy. I'd rather take Odom (see my diary).

Harrington is better than...
Harrington is better then anybody we have in his position, Dumbleavy and Murph. If we're still in it, i encourage the Wubs to go after him again. And Maggette for Dumbleavy, THIS MUST HAPPEN!

harrington not appreciably better
Harrington is a below average rebounder for a forward.  It isn't as good as Murphy's and is only marginally better than Dunleavy's.  Since he played more PF than Dun, this shouldn't be taken to mean much of anything.  His scoring is pedestrian for the number of shots he takes.  His defense has yet to be shown to help his team.

The grass may be greener, but it's only because we've got dead, brown grass here.  We may not have the answers on our roster, but swapping out our problems for a new one usually means a longer, bigger contract for the new problem.

Murphy
Murphy is better than Harrington. Double doubles don't grow on trees...

Exactly!
I mean, how can anyone say Harrington's better than Murphy? I guess scoring and rebounding aren't important.

"...maybe Foyle for his defense."
Are you kidding me?  Foyle is the WORST defensive center in the league.  Sure, he blocks some shots when he can get back and lurk but he's weak (as opposed to strong), slow and rarely exhibits ANY lateral defensive skill in a half-court, one-on-one situation.  Last season, I can't count how many times opposing teams went inside on their initial possession of the game to set the tone in the paint.  It didn't matter if it was Shaq, Samuel Dalembert or Chris Kaman, they all made Adonal look foolish.

While the Warriors had many issues last year (general lack of isolation defense and poor outside shooting) they would have made the playoffs with a mid-level center.

I'm hopeful the W's will leave Harrington alone-he is a player that would simply raise the team to a higher level of mediocrity.

Mullin announces Trade!
Davis has something to prove this season, Mullin said. But so do the rest of his teammates. So does Coach Mike Montgomery. So does Mullin. Absolutely, Mullin, preferably with an impact trade.
And Mullin predicts that he can make it happen fairly soon.
Soon? When?
``Now,'' Mullin said. ``This afternoon. Tomorrow . . .''

Mullin about to get out manuevered AGAIN?
Harrington redux: Despite whether you think Woes should try to get him, Mully does and yet is consistently behind the curve. First Indy out foxes us and now just when it seems we'll get a second chance, it sounds like the Lakers are arranging a three-way deal including the Bobcats to land Harrington. That could be good or bad news: if you don't want Harrington, we don't get him (again) while if you think Harrington can help us, well so do the Lakers so you have company in your opinion. (Kobe, Odom, Harrington ...) Either way it sure looks like we are getting out manuevered at the GM level. There is still time for Mully to get in the game, but the clock is winding down ...

Harrington & KG?!
Now Minnesota's Kevin McHale is also reportedly chasing Harrington, making at least three teams after him (Indy, GS, LA.) - foxsports.com
