Rumor: KG to the Warriors?
So this is one of those you take with a big grain of salt. On the WarriorsWorld.net forums, a forum member is saying that someone inside the organization is claiming that KG to the Golden State Warriors is a done deal. We wouldn't normally be reporting this since it's from some guy on a forum, but I'd like to know if anyone else has heard any substantial rumors about KG to the W's.
Here's part of the post:
It doesn't say who the Warriors give up to get KG, but I really don't know who Minnesota would want for KG. And it's even harder to believe since KG has never publicly said that he wants out of Minnesota so I just can't see a deal happening. But what if? What if? We can always dream...

KG loves the Bay
Anyone else heard about KG to the Warriors?
99% of rumors never happen, but 99% of them are fun to talk about!

KG is a passionate man, on and off the court.
Who else can say they paid to build dozens of new homes after Hurricane Katrina? Who else puts up 20 and 10 on a nightly basis for a team, that for the most part, didn't put in that kind of effort alongside him?
His front office in Minny is also pretty bad.
His SLAM Kicks interview dropped quotes that of course he has to get out of there if the franchise is not committed to winning.
This would be a huge addition to The Bay's GSW.
Granted will KG be willing to partake in the style change Nellie wants of a PF @ Center? Running up and down the court like the other Pacific Division squads like the Suns?
Are we giving up a JRich, heart of the team, player in return? Are Cohan and co. willing to take on KG's contract immediately(without trading away players with nearly the same money left) for over the salary cap penalties?
Who's this friend with the message and why isn't that guy supremely excited to have KG on the Dubs?! Forget that he might be a T'Wolves fan, big news is big news!

Foye, James and KG
T'Wolves' got better this offseason. Their draft pick, Foye, is a SG and after the summer league seems to be a top candidate for rookie of the year. He's a scorer.
They also added scoring PG James from Toronto so their back court is set and not likely to change.
So the GSW best asset, JRich, if traded, would have to play SF for the T-Wolves. Is that the best way to use him?
And, that trade violates the NBA rule #1 - never give a big for a small. GSW would have to include a promising big, like Ike, and probably add a POB and/or Andris and in return take on an over-paid T-Wolve.
Since KG would insist on not playing on a team without a C, he'd want to play along side Troy. That means GSW probably would NOT be able to trade Troy.
In short, GSW can't package players to make the trade work for KG and T-Wolves.

could work
TWolves could use Foye at SF alongside JRich & James, a pretty dynamic threesome
KG is one of the few players in the league worth trading Richardson
But beside contract complications, there simply is no one (even in combination) on GS roster that makes sense for McHale to trade for KG - unless KG's quietly demanding a trade to a warm-weather city, because KGs desire to get a ring (the only reason he'd ask for a trade) isn't going to happen in Oaktown

Longer career
Playing under Nellie as a Dirk-type player will extend KG career just by him avoiding the contact a in a more traditional playing style.
If Webber could get Nellie fired then KG could get McHale fired.
I think McHale would want Ike who is a rebounder (they'll be shooting a lot of jump shots) and put back scorer and maybe take a POB or Andris to boot. Nellie might not use POB or Andris and throwing one of of these low cost, high picks in would sweeten the deal for McHale's sake.

Garnett's value, trades
If Garnett wanted to go to a team with a center, I'm not sure why he'd want to play alongside Murphy, who ain't a center. If the Warriors want to use a "real center" it's likely Biedrins or the POB.
But I'm not sure that Garnett has any say in it. Does he have trade veto power? If the T-wolves are really looking to mix things up, they may just want to do it. I think they'd be making a big mistake. Garnett is one of the most productive performers out there. They've surrounded him with weaker talent over the last few years and haven't seen the wins as he comes closer and closer to being a one-man team.

Murphy's problem
On second thought, I can see McHale fooling himself into a trade if he can transform the team into a perimeter team and land some low cost bigs with high upside: Probably a rebounder like Ike but maybe ask that POB be throw in to boot. Three #1 picks for KG, and JRich who has gotten better each and every year.
I'm guessing KG wants to play like Dirk under Nellie so he'll entertain playing in sunny Caliornia - closer to his SoCal hang out. If he can avoid contact the post, he can extend his career.
A true center that can run is rare so KG probably wants to avoid the contact by playing under a coach that doesn't require classic post play from a center and who has someone else in mind and on hand - Murphy et al.
KG could play SF/PF along side the currently untradable Dunleavy and Murphy. Murphy et al will get banged-up playing post defense so it's not KG's problem.
Can KG force a trade? Probably. He can make McHale's life miserable and get him fired - Webber got Nellie canned and Webber in GS wasn't half the man KG is in MIN.
I'd give up JRich for KG, while Ike and POB are questionable under Nellie's system.

just for fun....
Minnesota's roster would change like this:
PG: Mike James -----> Baron Davis
SG: Randy Foye -----> Randy Foye (MVP of summer)
SF: Ricky Davis? -----> Ricky Davis
PF: Kevin Garnett ----> Troy Murphy
C: Mark Blount -----> Andris Biedrins/Mark Blount
That looks pretty damn good for them.
I think nellie would love to make a star out of monta ellis...and keeps talking about point forward type of offensive sets anyway.
The Warriors would change like this:
PG: BD -----> Monta Ellis
SG: JRich ---> JRich
SF: MD ----> MD / Pietrus
PF: TMurph -----> KG (or MD in small lineup)
C: ? -------> Ike (or KG in small lineup)
I know it's doesn't look very solid at every position or deep....but KG makes it ok. You finally have a small (JRich) and big (KG) star for balance, plus role players like Monta and MD that will make their contributions. Ike is there because he can shoot and Nellie keeps talking about FG and FT percentage....but we'll see if he can play D and/or run with the big boys.
I admit I haven't checked out the numbers, contract wise, but i'd hope there'd be ways to fill in with other players. Just havin' fun.
