Recap: Warriors 131, Bobcats 105 - Did I say "Unstoppable, Baby!"?
YEA BABY!
That's all I can really think right about now. Warriors creamed the Bobcats 131 to 105. Anyone see it?
First off, I have to say that I've been pretty harsh on Mullin over the years with his choice of contract extensions and draft picks. However, after witnessing tonight's game I have to give Mullin MAJOR GSoM props, as well as a pretty nice Fruit Basket!

To: Mullin, From: YaoButtaMing of GSoM
If you didn't get a chance to see tonight's game, then I understand. The Charlotte Bobcats don't really entice any of our 5 senses but I have one major point to make. For those of you who questioned the most recent trade (which brought Harrington, Jackson, Sarunas, and Powell) check this stat out: Tonight Al Harrington scored more points in the first two quarters than what Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy score on average...COMBINED. Had we traded Dunleavy and Murph for Harrington alone, it would have been well worth it. But instead, with the brilliance of Mullin (did I really say that?) Harrington, Jackson and Powell combined for 58 points. Granted we played against the Bobcats and right now you all are saying "It's one game come on!" but honestly I couldn't be more excited about our new squad.
This game was done after the first quarter when we lead 40 to 25. At one point we were up 21 to 2. The intensity was great, the crowd loud, and we didn't blow our lead at any point through the game! This was an important win for us.
Fantasy Junkie and I represented GSoM to the fullest and met Alvin Attles and Nate Thurmond prior to the game. Alvin promised us that the Warriors would make the playoffs this year and he said "Baron will lead the way". Here is what I enjoyed about tonight's game:

Fantasy Junkie brought the Sexy back tonight! We love you Warrior Girls!
Al Harrington: Tonight Al had a monstrous game who led the Warriors on a 30 point lead in the first half. He finished the night with 28 points in 29 minutes of action when Nellie rested him in the fourth. I love this guy! Not only can he score like crazy, shoot beautifully behind the arc, he has great defensive intensity. He shot an impressive 9 for 11 from the field and 5 for 5 behind the 3pt line. He is clearly a new favorite Warrior of mine. Mullin, you make me so proud!

Which TMNT is he? You guessed it ... the leader Leonardo!
Stephen Jackson: What I like about Stephen Jackson are the little things that don't show up on the stat sheet (sound familiar?). Tonight he had 17 points and 5 rebounds but played an integral role on many defensive moves which created offensive fast break points. He's a very smart player who also gives us a scoring punch. There just wasn't enough ball to go around tonight for him to score above 20, but he's unselfish which I like.

No one had a free pass past Jackson tonight!
Josh Powell: I haven't seen too much of this guy before tonight, and as Fantasy Junkie and I witnessed, we loved every minute of it. Powell brings a lot of hustle which we didn't get, from the players we gave up. Powell is considered a "throw in" player part of the trade and already I think he gives us more of a defensive presence than Murphy did! I'll probably get a lot of criticism for that, but tonight Powell did some pretty nice defensive plays which helped us create fast breaks as well.
Sarunas Jasikevicius: I really enjoy Sarunas's game but he didn't do too much tonight and he didn't have to. After Harrington and Jackson gave us a huge lead, Monta Ellis and Baron closed the game out. Sarunas had plenty of time to play, leading our second squad all through the fourth.
Warrior Wonder: Tonight he was Leonardo for sure! The leader! Games like these always put me in a good mood. GO WARRIORS, GO WARRIORS, GO WARRIORS!!!

That's what ...
I hope they keep Jackson and Ellis but I have a feeling someone is going to go. I like Ellis in the starting lineup but once JRich gets back he'll come off the bench.
I think we can count Sarunas and Azu out which i'm sad to say!

J Rich fits right in the starting lineup.
Ellis is good, but he is young. He is an ideal sixth man. He can play without the pressure of the team on his shoulders and if he gets hot we can keep in the game as long as we want. The secret for this team is having fast, active, and rested wingmen pressuring the ball. With Richardson we are sitting even prettier.

That's all I can really think right about now.
Remember the Kittys had just played an overtime win at LA so don't read too much into it. IIRC we had similiar wins against utah and detroit earlier this year? I'm sure the trade has made us better but there's still a lot to improve. Powell looked like he's gonna have some value but we could still use another big tough guy.
Is it my imagination or is your hand on her butt?

THANKS MULLY
Here is the typical statlines we had grown accustomed to as Warriors fans.
Troy Murphy, FC 27 3-7 1-1 0-2 5 5 10 2 0 0 1 5 7
Mike Dunleavy, SF 28 3-6 1-2 2-2 1 0 1 1 0 1 0 4 9
The fact of the matter is, all three of the guys we gave up were physically challenged. All of them. They make Diogu out to be some kind of prodigy, but lets be real. He was a below average PF. Sure he can shoot and make free throws, but you pretty much throw Ike the ball in the paint and stand back. Black hole is a perfect description. That coupled with the fact that he had no hops and was short made him a backup at best.
The warriors got two solid starters (maybe a budding superstar in Harrington) and two SOLID backups who fill needed rolls on this team. Say what you will about Mully, the man has put together a great team now that he has the coach that can make a difference.
