Who was your favorite warrior to hate and just favorite ex-warrior?

I mean we had some real good/ awful players that we loved at one point. I personally liked Joe Smith for the simple fact that he was the draft pick the first year I really got into the warriors and basketball. I had his Jersey, rookie cards and autograph. I knew nothing about the game then except that he was supposed to be a real good player. I mean he was selected #1 overall....ummm, and then even at the young age of 12 I knew he wasn't that good, but I still liked the guy any way. I guess I was hoping for him to turn out great. They had this one game I went to where they had like 12 guys that lived in the bay area all named Joe Smith and they would individual name all of them and they would come out. They couldn't just say Joe Smith once and had them all raise their hand, they had to waste time because that was the half time show. Oh, and they all got some kind of certificate because that was there name...Lame! Anyway, Memories from the past are always fun. I also liked Chris Porter for his hustle and his hair, whatever happened to him? Is he in jail or something? Obviously, hands down, DUN DUN was my favorite player to hate! We all know the stories, he just sucked 3/4th of the time he was here. My dad, who is 60 even hates on him and called him Donnothin.....Here are a few of our old players that ruled if you wanna look them over!
     Gilbert Arenas, Victor Alexander,Muggsy Bogues, Manute Bol,Earl Boykins,Speedy Claxton,Bimbo Coles,Erick Dampier,Dale Davis,Tony Delk, Ike Diogu,Mike Dunleavy,Derek Fisher,Danny Fortson,Chris Gatling,Tom Gugliotta,Tim Hardaway,Rod Higgins,Tyrone Hill,Larry Hughes,Antawn Jamison,Damon Jones,Sarunas Marciulionis,Donyell Marshall,Chris Mullin,Troy Murphy,Eduardo Nájera,Billy Owens,Chris Porter,Mitch Richmond,Cliff Robinson,Rony Seikaly,Joe Smith,Latrell Sprewell,John Starks,Bobby Sura,Tom Tolbert,Nick Van Exel,Chris Webber and David Wood

I wanna hear some great stories!

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

hands down my favorite formar warrior goes to
gilbert and then probably uncle cliffy

by travisl212 on Jan 28, 2007 9:38 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

hmm
favorite Warrior to hate: Michael Dunleavy
favorite former Warrior:  Timmy Hardaway, with his patented cross-over, breaking many people's legs

by tadams1080 on Jan 28, 2007 9:46 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

hmm
yeah gilbert and cliffy were some of my favorites, and i didnt like John Starks or Eduardo Najera. as for why i dont like them, i have noooo idea why.
Ronald Reagan was a jerk.

by Nooob on Jan 28, 2007 9:47 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Starks
Yeah, a lot of people didn't like Starks becasue he was from NY, I thought he was fun sometimes. I remember he would blow on his fingers when he would hit like three shots in a row.

by BDavis on Jan 28, 2007 10:15 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Tyrone Hill
Love Tyrone Hill. I knew he would be an all star one day. Great rebounder and FUGLY. One of the ugliest dudes I have ever seen. Also loved Chris Gatling and his baseline pump fake he'd pull from 18' even though he had no jump shot. Jim Barnett used to get so mad when opponents would bite on it.

I think Dunleavy is really the only Warrior in the last 15 years I didn't like. Basically for all of the reasons ever stated by everyone in the history of the internet.

My fav
ex warrior..well, my favorite warrior of all time period is Chris Mullin. Jury is still out (but looking much better after the trade) on his GM ability. But his skills on the hardwood are undisputed.
Favorite warrior to hate? A tie between Dunnada and Spree.

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

CARLOS ROGERS
The original Mr. Hustle

Stone-hands
My fav Warrior to hate was Dampier. I relished the idea that I knew he wasn't gonna catch the interior pass and that it was going to brick off his hands right out of bounds. I mean, after the 50th time, wasn't it obvious?

Fav Warrior: Mr. Jason Richardson. Arenas was a flash in the pan and BDiddy has been a little inconsistent since he came aboard, but Jason's been our rock for years. Timmy and Mully were great no doubt, but JR is the epitome of a Warrior.

I've noticed...
A discrepancy in your sig. Michelangelo had a weapon of choice in which were his patented nunchucks. In your sig, his is holding Donatello's wooden stick. did you do some color work? If so, eees naiiiice.

If you take a look out of your windows, you can now see Dallas, TX. Quite the site, no?

by coma on Jan 28, 2007 11:35 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

I was waiting for someone to notice that
Yes, I made some color adjustments. The Donatello pic was the best I could find, but Al couldn't be rockin' the purple--what are we, Sacramento Queens? Changed Al's headband and the arm bands to a nice Warrior red-orange. And yeah, it took me awhile...

Haha.
I can tell. Mine took 5 minutes :. Methinks I have to do a better one.

my favorite ex-warrior is definitely
gilbert arenas cuz at my second warriors game, which was in his rookie season, i got to meet him and get his autograph
also for some reason i liked vonteego cummings. i guess it was his name and when he wore the mask

by llamalimbo1 on Jan 28, 2007 10:25 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Teego!
Oh I loved that guy too! There are so many ex-warriors that had a short time in the NBA and he was one of them. Didn't he get drafted by the Pacers then traded to the Warriors then back to the Pacers then out of the NBA.... We should start a thread of where are they now. I bet he is working at a gas station. He was a good player though

Warrior(s) I hated the most
The 98-99 season. Sans Jamison, I hated Chris Mills (anyone catch him in Snoop's movie getting his butt kicked?) calcified Cummings, Caffey, Dampier, AND Donyell Marshall. That had to be one of the most painful teams to watch, collectively.

by dj fuzzylogic on Jan 28, 2007 10:39 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Oh man
I forgot about that season. Mills and Caffey... wow. I'm surprised any of us are still fans after that monstrosity.

by ffgolden on Jan 29, 2007 12:17 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Favorite and least favorite
I got to go with a toss up with Arenas and Ellis.

Todd Fuller would be the least. (Mainly because of who we could have drafted)Oh and by the way, he sucked big time

by illmaticwarrior on Jan 28, 2007 10:44 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

hmm...
I never hated a Warrior per se.... I could never hate anyone on a team I cared for so much. But now that Dunleavy is gone, I am somewhat relieved. I guess thats as close to hate as I can get.

Favorite Warrior of all time? Tim Hardaway. The NBA probably commissioned a league ankle doctor for all the ankles broken by Tim Hardaway.

by ZombieWarrior on Jan 28, 2007 10:58 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Favorite Warriors
In my childhood: Rick Barry
In my teens: Sleepy, Mullin, Hardaway, Richmond
In my 20s: Chris Webber
In my 30s: Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson
As I approach the big 4-0: Monta, Biedrins .... and Kevin Durant?

Least faves: Todd Fuller, Carlos Rogers, Cliff Rozier, Tom Gugliotta, Rony Seikaly, Chris Mills, Mark Price, Mike Dunleavy.

YES! I pray the Warriors somehow get Durant...

Here!
Other Than Adonal, My Favourite Warriors of All-Time:

And Sleepy, if I may ask, why is Mark Price your least favourite Warrior? He is close to my favourite of all-time! (Keep in mind, I've never seen him in an actual game from that era except once in some Allen Iverson Highlights where he got it stolen from him....He just always scored the most on the Warriors when I played video games.)

the Chris Mullin Show!
The more Mullin we come across, the more Mullin we see! I have like...every one of his cards (might wanna see if thas worth some money now). Mulli is def my alltime fave even though I was a young one just watchin with my dad, the most memorable is the way he pursed his lips when he shot and couldn't dunk on a fast break to save his life (i remember the one time he did)...then there's the time me and my bro met Timmy and he signed an autograph but he was at this flea market or something and busy eating his sub sandwich...and over the years I've wanted to somehow work out a 50 man roster to keep some of the guys we've had around just cuz I knew once they left...they'd be an ALLSTAR! I liked the Gatling/Big Vic Alexander Duo, that was my favorite team around the time of Keith Jennings, Tyrone "Fugly" Hill and dem...

Keither Jennings! ahh, the post-Mugsy, pre-Boykins short guy

Least favorite: Alton Lister
(not just because he was old, ugly and bald on the top, but because Shawn Kemp dunked on him in on of our last playoff appearances and we got eliminated because it was a blocking foul and Kemp pointed at him tauntingly...it's the best facial ever since I watch it on those old NBA highlight tapes...but it still brings a shiver down my spine...oh yeah and Gatling fouled him too on a dunk before that when he just grabbed him waist and let him yak all over the team and hang on the rim on an alley oop from Payton...ok, enough of the flashbacks...)

oh yeah, and Byron Houston was a waste of cap space too...damn there's too many

...never a fairweather fan...

kemp
both of those dunks where on the best damn sports shows top 50 dunks last week.i remember when they happened, though i dont recall them being in the playoffs. Kemp has been working on a comeback, maybe we should sign him to a 10 day

kemp on gatling
around 35 seconds, the same game/series where gat gets dunk on but gives Kemp his props...i remember this vividly, might be mistaken on the playoff factor

I dont think so
but it could've been, it was quite a while ago and i was living up in Humboldt so my mind was a little cloudy at the time. nice clips he was one of my favorite players too watch back then, though he always seemed throw down a few of those highlight dunks against the W's.

by azw on Jan 29, 2007 7:22 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

oh my gawd
Glove to Rainman...man, that was a W's nightmare for several years. They completely OWNED the W's. Seemed like every game was  20+ point blowout when we played those guys.

lots of favorites
the whole team that went to the playoffs last, until the  webber fiasco, he quickly became my most hated and still is
always liked when David Wood played
and how can you not love Mr. Jennings
and of course Mitch Richmond

OH YEA!
Tim Young. That was in the weird lightening bolt down the side of the jersey days. He was crappy. Whats up with Stanford and crappy 7footers. What ever happened to Borchardt? I am worried about the Lopez brothers not developing or developing into busts over @ Stanford.

my list:
obvious faves:  tim-mitch-chris

(i think it's possible that baron and jr can get in that category with a couple of fun years to come)

most fun to cheer for (and under-rated): manute bol

goofiest: tom tolbert

never got to know ya: chief, vinsanity, penny

all-short guy team: mugsy, mr. jennings, boykins

most annoying: seikaly, dunleavy, gugliatta

loved ya - hate ya: webber, spree

by TMC Forever on Jan 29, 2007 9:39 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

yeah, gugliotta was a waste
i definitely had it out for him, mainly 'cause he replaced webber and was no replacement for the early c-webb

loved sarunas, with his energy, manute bol shooting threes, chris gatling was another good energy guy

never had much love for: uwe blaab, todd fuller, a million other stiffs from the trash pile

j.b. carroll was the original weak-ass stiff (who was acquired for robert parish and the pick that became kevin mchale)

mitch ritchmond, a classy quiet guy, tim hardaway, the heart and soul...

All-time Oakland Warriors: Hardaway, J-Rich, Mullin, Mr. Mean & The Chief

HMMM...
TIM HARDAWAY IS MY FAVORITE PLAYER OF ALL TIME!!!  For this very reason the three Warriors I despised the most was BJ Armstrong and Mark Price (BJ for taking Timmy's starting spot and just the combo because they gave the illusion that Hardaway was expendable. Hardaway was right... BJ couldn't hold his jock strap!) and Bimbo Coles... because he's what the Warriors thought Tim Hardaway was worth.  Worst trade EVER!!  Other players liked were Chris Mullin, Mitch Richmond, Vincent Askew, Mr. Jennings, Chris Gatling, Jason Richardson, Arenas, Jamison, Elie, David Wood for visiting my school when I was in 6th grade (His girlfriend and care were FINE!!! and boy was he fugly!), Carlos Rogers, etc...

Blasts From The Past
Loved Purvis Short and his rainbow jumper, Nate Williams and his instant offense, and Bernard King doing whatever it took to get the ball in the hole.

Hated Robert Parrish as a Warrior, and naturally even more as a Celtic, since he finally decided to learn how to play well once he got there. Jim Peterson was a doof--he only played because Nellie had no one else to play center, and then the guy talked smack about outlasting some great centers in the playoffs (back when the W's would upset someone in the first round and then get their ass handed to them in the second).

Paul McPherson & Sam Jacobsen
McFierce played in 2001 and had some crazy hops.  looks like he's playing overseas now doing this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=t1seR5QuqSc

Sam Jacobsen was with us around the same time.  A white guy who could sky (higher than Sura and without the frosted tips).

Anybody remember these cats?
My army of forgotton All Star Favorites:

Peter Verhoeven  (this guy used to come off the bench with this weird 70s mustache and his skin would turn lobster red after a minute on the court. How fun!)

Chuck Alexsinas (he had perhaps the worst nickname in history: The UCONN Mannequin.  Was like having a pro wrestler on the team)

Ben McDonald (How many Irvine Anteaters made the NBA?)

My Least Favs:  Chris Webber (helped detroy the Warriors org for years, Spreweell (see Webber comment), Eric Dampier (The most expressionless NBA player in history), Tom Gugliota (What was his deal? Great before the Warrors, great after, horrible during)

Can't believe no one's saying
Least favorite Ex-Warrior of all time: Marc Jackson. Seriously, he strung together a couple good games as a 27 year old rookie on an atrocious Warriors team, looked horribly out of place in the rookie game, thought he was an all-star and left the Dubs, and is now collecting paychecks on someones bench. Only good thing he ever did was give GSoM a motto.
Second least favorite: Danny Fortson.

Favorite Ex-Warriors: The Wizards, Gilbert and Antawn. Although its painful to watch the Wiz and not be frustrated by bad past decisions.
