OPEN THREAD - Game #36: Warriors vs. Suns

55993466RW_AN033796044

Warriors (W-L): 18-17

Suns (W-L): 24-8

Time: 5:00PM PST tip off

TV: FSN Bay Area

Radio: KNBR 680

Oooooh boy. Goliath. Well, one of them at least.

Tonight the Warriors match up with Phoenix Suns, the streaking kings of this season. What's more, we're playing in Phoenix's house. This one is going to be rough.

This will be our third meeting with the Suns this year; we remain winless against them this season. If there is any consolation, it would be that our previous meetings have been close, with both games coming down to the fourth quarter.

With Ellis back, however, we have a good chance of making some magic happening tonight. Here's to not being another notch on Phoenix's belt!

Vegas Odds: As of 12:52 Pacific Time, Covers.com had Phoenix by 12.5 points. Please refrain from chastising me for getting it wrong. I'm extremely fragile.

GSoM Prediction: Us vs. Phoenix. On the road. Man I hate predicting losses, but this is going to be a tough one for us. Tell you what. You predict the outcome. I'm calling that there will be an overtime tonight.

LET'S DO THIS WARRIORS!!!

UPDATE: Live Box Score from Yahoo!

UPDATE 2: Warriors lose "a close one" 105-128

Stay tuned for the recap...

Today: We be ballin'.
WIN! THIS WILL BE THE BEST WIN EVER!

A fun game to watch, all the time. Why is it never on Television?

(I predict Suns 134-Warriors 122.)

Whats record for most points scored in a night?
I hope we bring as much defensive intensity as we did against Memphis because I'd like to see a historic defeat more than a regular warrior meltdown.

Chastise
Is my middle name.  It's 13 now. =) But you were right, so no worries.  We just want to make sure you don't make a huge slip like "Warriors by 15", cuz... ya.

I don't know about this one
This game is going to be ugly. I seriosuly think we should just let Baron sit this one out. Or maybe if we are losing after the 1st we sit him. I'm feeling an injury soon if he keeps playing 48 minutes a game. What does TV: NBALP RSNE+O mean? But at least I think we get it here in the Bay. Sorry about that Zorgon.

And my prediction is that we lose 101-123 including that overtime Hash predicted of course.

by DaAzNJRiCh on Jan 7, 2007 1:44 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

we should just let Baron sit this one out.
Yes, no use taking a chance on getting Baron hurt in a hopeless game. I'd play M.C.Cloud,Bukaki,Dunleavey, Murph and Foyle the whole way and save the starters for the surer things. 48 minutes from the three bad contracts would make them earn their keep.

with his wife, Sandy of Fremont Bank always calculating interest rates, you'd think Atma would be well-versed on things like this.

off topic question....
Is Round Table Pizza any good? I don't have anything of the like here in Oklahoma, I really like thin crust Chicago pizza (my family is rom Chicago). But the round Table pizza commercials always make me wonder if it's actually as good as it seems to me.

by Zorgon on Jan 7, 2007 5:10 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Round Table
Round Table is probably the best of the "chain" pizza joint out here, but they are expensive as hell. A large nicely topped pie will run $25 plus. Not worth the coin.

The west coast suffers from commonly good italian food. But it all evens out when my east coast friends tell me that back home mexican food is considered Taco Bell.

(I see. In OK, we get crappy Tex-Mex, so I like Taco Bell. Not real Mexican, Tex-Mex. We don't have much Italian, but strangely enough, we have a LOT of authentic Chinese. I really miss Chicago Pizza, I normally get it only once a year, so I wish Round Table would come here so I could have something to tide me over between trips. Dominos only suffices for a while.)

Zachary's and Patxi's.
Down here in Santa Cruz we don't have those but we've got Tony and Albas which is pretty good. but I'm hooked on the cheap-ass churros over at Lil'ceasars

Barnett
says the suns are off to an 'inauspicious' start.

inauspicious = promising failure or bad luck

lol him and his crazy vocabulary. we're all smarter basketball fans because of Barnett

Ronald Reagan was a jerk.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
looks like its 5 on 8 tonight

by gsdubz on Jan 7, 2007 5:26 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

um
Round Table is pretty good. My cousin loves it but he also loves Costco pizza so I don't know. Roundtable is pretty expensive though. $20 for a specialty pizza. Chicago pizza sounds better but I never really tried it.

And Barnett might have said auspicious rather than inauspicious

by DaAzNJRiCh on Jan 7, 2007 5:34 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

I've liked every pizza I've come across
Other than Uno Pizza (DISGUSTING and NOT CHICAGO PIZZA), Pizza Hut (they changed their ingrediants gradually, and its so dry and greasy and crap that it kills my mouth for days to come), and California Pizza Kitchen (Not Pizza).

Now only if I could get it somehow....

I actually like
California Pizza kitchen. But hey I live in California so I guess I should like it. The Barbeque  Chicken is the only thing I tried though. And Roundtable isn't good enough for you to have to try it before you die or something.

by DaAzNJRiCh on Jan 7, 2007 5:52 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

I see
but, you know, I've gotta try every pizza before I die :)

When I'm rich, I'll order 'em all.

My only beef with CPK is that it's not pizza. It's just wierd stuff.

Azibuike
Having just watched him make a layup and get a foul and then force a turnover, I'm begging the warriors to sign him through the rest of the season. Doesn't seem to me like its worth the risk to try to get him to clear waivers.

He also has 7 turnovers...

15 turnovers as a team
monta should not be allowed to make one handed passes.

by the evil monkey on Jan 7, 2007 6:15 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

At the half Warriors down by 8
Warriors- 53
Suns- 61

To collect this W the Warriors need to:

  • protect the ball
  • finish those nice drives
  • play tougher defense
  • make better passes
  • move better without the ball
Steve Nash is being exposed tonight as the WORST defender in the NBA.

dont play troy murphy.

Steve Nash is being exposed tonight as the WORST defender in the NBA.

Azubuike had Nash on him many times down and the Warriors never went to him. Strange.

why y'all focusing on the negatives?? he has 18 at half!

by gsw4life on Jan 7, 2007 6:19 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Its great to see him
back but he needs to tone his game down a bit if the Ws are going to make hte playoffs this year.

I'm so f****ing irritated!!!
I think the scorekeeper is a Suns fan! when the warriors score he doesn't even tally it until the suns are about to score next!  when the suns score he tallies it instantly!  so annoying!

and the refs kept the suns in this game in the 1st and early 2nd quarter.  absolutely atrocious.  i hate phoenix, not just the team but the city and everyone that lives in it.

how many of these do we give up a game? this is another indicator of our soft defense. fuckin crush somebody!
