Facing the Suns

On paper, we`re the younger team (3rd in the league) so we can perhaps outrun and out hustle them. We are also the taller team and the Suns are the smallest team in the West if not in the NBA so we can protect the paint. But can we out play and out gun them?

Don't let the W/L column fools you; Suns 9-2 and the Warriors 5-7 because these are the highest scoring team in the NBA, Suns - 108.5PPG/42 RPG/ 24.9 APG; Warriors 107.0 PPG /41.4 RPG/21.6 APG. Men for man for the starters of the Dubs are evenly matched with the Suns, but the bench is where the Suns have a slight advantage. If the Warriors bench (Ellis/MP and Barnes?) can contribute substantially and if the breaks of the game will be in Dubs favor, then the Dubs will give the Suns a run for their money.

Warriors starter have an aggegates PPG of 86.0 points against the Suns 79.3 per game. Their bench is slightly ahead 51.9 while the Dubs had 44.1 PPG. This is because Barbosa is playing superbly of late because Bell was sidelined due to injury. Let us hope the Mississipi Bullet can out run and out gun the Brazilian Blur.

My prediction - Warriors by 8 if they can limit Nash assists so that he can't invole other team mates in scoring. Let him score but don't let him pass.

Go Dubs!

Or how about...
Let us hope the Mississipi Bullet can out run and out gun the Brazilian Blur.

Or perhaps a little bit of:

 • "Ellis... TO THE RIM!!!"
 • "My Word!"

It'll be a barn burner!
I don't wanna make predictions (still waitin' on my official prognosticator's license). I'll just say it'll be rainin' buckets at the roaracle.
Best duo since...

Let's just
hope that the Dubs have the same/similar second-half intensity that the Suns did against the Clippers. If we have another sluggish 4th Quarter like we did against Philly...we are in trouble. Plus, the Suns haven't played since Friday (at home) while the Warriors have only rested for 2 days, whilst returning from a road trip. Let's just hope that Nellie can give another one those half-time speeches that lights a fire underneath them.

Humm...
Men for man for the starters of the Dubs are evenly matched with the Suns

Don't know about that one.

I'll give you:
Davis>Nash
Harrington>Hill

But:
Azubuike<Bell (or Barbosa)
Jackson<Marion
Biedrins<<Stoudemire
I'm a GSOMer, but not insane. They've got a chance to take this game. It'll come down to who's making their jumpshots and 3's. But let's not kid ourselves and think we have a better starting 5 than the Suns. Not at this point.

Check the
the stats. Individually they may have different talents but statistically, their output is almost the same although the Suns had one more game. As a team the Dubs protect the ball slighhtly better than the Suns as the Dubs have fewer TO 13.5/15.0. They force almost identical TO to opteam (Suns 17.2; Dubs 17.3). Although the Suns are better perimeter shooters, Dubs have more points in the paint (GSW 46.3 - Suns 40.3).

I hope
it's a good game either way. Hopefully the Dubs pull it out since I'm going tonight!

Baron's burden
W's had a 1-3 record against the Suns last year. But for the exception of one game (a 105-128 loss in January), we played them tough. Baron's always played Nash pretty well: posts him up and makes him work on defense, generally makes it more of a physical game than Nash prefers. That probably means another 40-minute effort by Baron tonight (unless it's an early blowout). I'm already starting to worry about that knee, and we haven't even gotten through a month yet...

hopefully
-matt barnes plays

-the roaracle is not the snoaracle like ive seen on tv a few times this year (the crowd needs to helps us out alot more imo)

-we have a better start than our last few games. Rather than always playing from behind im hoping we can come out to start the game like we came out after halftime against philly (i think it was a 9-2 run???)

on a side note, tim n chris burger... prognosticator's license? NICE

What you've seen on TV...
Being there is a different story... there hasn't been one game where it wasn't hyped. Everyones having a good time bein' there and no ones sleepin'... Theres a big difference from what you see on TV and what's at the Arena. Would you like to be more specific on whet we need 2 do to not put you t sleep? I can't think of anything else to support the team but lose my voice by the end of the game, hold up big ass signs to hype crowds and go to the Roaracle with Tendinitus on my right foot using crutches...

haha
you may have misinterpreted what i said. I didnt mean that people were sleeping or near it.

The point was the crowd isnt NEARLY as loud as it was during the last 20 games of the year, or more significantly during the playoffs.

The crowd was literally a factor (a 6th man perhaps) and so far this season, i think ive seen it get loud once or twice after the warriors went on some little runs

Im just encouraging a louder scenario during the tougher parts of the game, perhaps when weve missed a few shots, or have allowed the other team to make a run. I know thats hard but our fans are capable being that we have the best in the league...

I solute your effort though and im not trying to take a hit on any specific individuals. I bet every person on this site never shuts up during the games and i like that, but what is that like 5% of the audience? It'd be great to get the rest of the audience to do what the fans here do in the arena

While
While you are right that the crowd energy is definitely less now than at the end of last season / playoffs, it's also important to note that the audio on FSN broadcasts is subpar. Games (no matter who's playing, or what sport even) just sound more exciting on TNT and ESPN period, probably because of better micing and mixing.

Ive been to every home game
and its has been quieter because the warriors keep digging gigantic holes for themselves. Tought to cheer for meaningless buckets. But I bet with Jax's energy back, the Oracle will be rocking its bad self.

Also
I have been to every game as well, and I think another problem is no Jrich. The crowd would always go hyphy when he would do one of his EARTH SHATTERING dunks. I think the crowd has been decent so far this season but we could do a lot better. I will definitely be reppin' my Ellis jersey tonight. Gonna get nostalgic from his dunk from last year on Barbosa.

Attack
Nash defensively, isn't how they won the game last year. i distinctly remember that when Nash was playing D, whoever he was guarding (Monta, Baron) would just drive to the hole on him every time, getting easy buckets.

I'm thinking we need to exploit their weakness, Steven Nash's Defense, with same game plan as last year and we should do good. I don't think we can "out shoot" the Suns on offense. Make Nash work his tail off at both ends.

Put a little mustard on it

lol
we match their starting lineup

by Proof on Nov 26, 2007 4:56 PM PST reply actions 0 recs

Every half court offensive set
should begin with Baron Davis posting up Steve Nash, period.

by jlagace on Nov 26, 2007 6:09 PM PST reply actions 0 recs

And..
if they decide to get clever and put Raja Bell on Baron, we need to insert Stephen Jackson at the 2guard and then force them to switch back with Nash guarding Baron.

Either way, the key to the game is taking Nash out of the game.

In their
openning game at US Airways Center, The Suns lost to the Lakers 119-98. Nash have only 3 assist. If the Dubs can limit Nash involving others thru his assist, the Warriors have a game in their hands.
