Baron Davis Out Indefinitely with Knee Surgery

Man, this one hurts. It pains me to post this. Baron Davis will have arthroscopic surgery tomorrow and is out indefinitely. GSoM friend Janny Hu has the details.

It looks like it could take Baron at least a month to safely recover from the surgery. By that time the Warriors could be way out of the playoff race. It's unfornate that we'll have to wait even longer to see how BD, JRich, Monta, Andris, Jax, Al, Barnes, Kabuki, Sarunas, MP2, Foyle, and POWell will mesh and play together.

Boom Dizzle was putting up All Star numbers and bounced back to silence his critics after last season's struggles. He worked himself into top shape and along with Nellie gave Warriors Nation hope this year. It's sad to see him go down with another injury like this.

Stay up dogg!

What do you think? There goes the season or is there still hope?

Ouch, this really hurts.

Eh..
We're out of the race anyway.  If anything this will give us a higher draft pick.

SUCKS.
Chalk this season up to disaster.

If you take a look out of your windows, you can now see Dallas, TX. Quite the site, no?

man
this saddens me. We get one back, and we lose another.

It's over
The day we all knew was coming - BD getting hurt.

The season has been over for a while.
At least Monta Ellis gets to practice running the point and we'll end up with a better draft pick. It looks like the Yi movement is back on track.

You've got to be kidding me...
I read earlier on today someone say,"at least we're not Boston!"... That's true... but I think we have a bigger problem than that... most consecutive seasons without a playoff birth... we are cursed...  Someone call the witch doctor!!!

Tough loss
BD had been much, much better this year than last.  But no one can say that BD being out for big chunks of time is unexpected.  Let's just hope his surgery goes better that JRich's did.

CURSED
It's time we realize the Warriors are simply.....cursed. I saw this coming right when JRich got injured. To reverse the curse, I believe the Warriors need a new logo.

agreed!
i think the sprewell debacle officially cursed these color schemes.

I like Baron
but other than his issues with getting along with his coaches this was the other knock on him

Its tough to build a team around a player who is hurt so much

I really think Nelosn is already looking ahead a few years and sees Monta as the future.  Baron is never going to win anything

Removal of Debris
The removal of loose bodies, or debris, is the least intensive arthroscopic knee surgery. The free-floating debris is from tissue that has torn away, which can migrate and cause pain, swelling, and locking of the joint. As with all arthroscopies, the ability to visually see inside will allow an improved ability over MRI to diagnose the condition of the joint, and how much cartilage has actually occurred.

Baron could be out only 2-3 weeks, which would bring him back in early March. I'm optimistic that the Warriors can win without him. With JRich back, the depth chart should be...

Biedrins > Powell, Foyle
Harrington > Barnes
Jackson > Pietrus
Richardson > Azubuike
Ellis > Jasikevicius

Baron/injuries
after his first few years he played in the following number of games per:

50  02/03
67  03/04
46  04/05
54  05/06

This year maybe 53?

I had high hopes this year but the guy can't stay on the court

by Zig on Feb 12, 2007 3:43 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

well at least
we are now out of the hunt.. if you really think about it baron demands alot of attention from both opponents and his teammates... he is our floor general that takes command of his team and now we are without him.  baron is the leader of this team!!! the team is a reflection of its leader!!!  the leader goes down so does the team.  or someone needs to step up and be as consistent as bdiddy... lets hope baron recovers well!!! good luck warrior fans... and lets stay positive!!!

Now
We're going to jack up even more pointless shots.

This season's a wash, in the very worst way. Hopefully we can make the high lottery.

dam this is sad especially nash is out of all star
I was just watching espn and i find out steve nash wont play in the all star game, and who would of probably been his replacement? probably BD ahh what a curse, no all star and at this rate which im wishing wont happen no playoffs. Even though realisticaly if the warriors make the playoffs will they even do anything? but still this sucks!

Hmm....
Whoever did NOT expect this injury coming, hasent followed Baron Davis AT ALL in his career. With that said.....

Im not too sure I see this as a "ITS OVER" injury. Word out of Denver, is that the A.I injury might be worse then it really is, so they COULD be without one of there stars for awhile.

Even though the TWolves handed us a beating last week, I am not sold on the Wolves making the playoffs. They are the classic over achieving team right now.

The Clippers? Dont get me started...they have the same team from last year, but play completely different.

The Hornets are starting to make some noise, and are the one team I worry about in this race.

Need I even mention the Kings, Blazers, Sonics or Grizz?

So there is 2 playoff spots up for grabs with 5, maybe 6 teams fighting for them....4 of those teams arent scary/dominant, and one of the teams is us.

Here is where it gets scary. Yes...help is on the way...but Pietrus isnt a BUNCH of help..and, who knows what we are going to get out of J Rich...Im going to assume he wont be 100% when he comes back, nor will he be 100% at all this season, but he will help.

I know everyone is down about Baron being hurt...but the difference from Baron being hurt in years past, and this year...is Monta Ellis. If Ellis is going to propel to SUPERSTAR status, what better time then now? Im with the optomistic guy above...GO W'S

DONT FORGET
jrich will never be 100% or even 85% this season

by twelve years on Feb 12, 2007 4:31 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

It's not like Baron did any damage to the knee
They're basically gonna flush out his knee. He shouldn't be gone for too long.

You make a good point about the prescence of Monta this year. He is really stepping up. Sarunas is doing a decent job offensively when he comes in - that pick and roll is sweet. We might be able to stay afloat. Maybe Baron will come in and give us the same lift he did when we first traded for him.

Also, this year, once J-rich comes back, we have more go to guys than before that can each create their own shot or force a double team.

no surprise here...
As good a player as Davis is, he can never stay on the court.

Fierce mind but a body made of glass.

If Baron Davis were a player in Madden 07 his injury rating would be like a 40.

Silencing his critics?
The biggest critisism of Baron is the he is always hurt.  The second, is that he throws up too many quick three pointers for someone with his shooting skills.  Still, he was our best player.  I hope we lose every game from here on out.  Maybe we can finish second. (worse that is)  We need some help for Bedrins.  I feel sorry for him, being that he has to try and cover all the opponents blowing by the Warriors who are defending(?) them.

hold out JR too
the W's were forced to overplay BD this year, and now will be tempted to get JR back in just to hold on to the fading glimmer of playoff hope - for what? Shut BOTH BD & JR down, let the young'ns finish out '07 and bring the dynamic duo (?!) back healthy next fall. When have they had a legit run playing together healthy? We aren't going to get anything for Baron now, and we shouldn't trade JRich for anything short of a starting PF (which we are unlikely to get). Clear the roster out of the last contract year guys, and let's retool the PF spots the way we should have last year ...
