Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

Recap: Warriors 83, Bulls 113 - Time to Drop Geology...

Geology: FAILED!

Games like this are getting harder and harder to write on. I know that we always try to keep a sense of humor about things here at GSoM but there is nothing funny about what is happening to this team.

Granted, we are seriously plagued by injuries but what is it about the Warriors that cause such an amazing collapse in almost every game they play? Getting outscored 20 to 6 in the third quarter not only came as no surprise to me tonight; it was practically expected.

I think that the most frustrating thing about seeing the Dubs play like this consistenly is the fact that anyone that watches this team on a consistent basis knows that there is talent within! We've watched Monta and Biedrins grow up in front of our very eyes. We at least had Al in the game tonight and he has shown us glimmers of dominance. And JRich... `Nuff Said.

Why can't this team learn to play together? Why can't they make better court decisions? How many more 3's need to be bricked before another course of action is pursued? Why do we always get trampled in the second half? Why do they continue to show Sonic's ads during the game when there isn't a damn Sonic's (to my knowledge) in the Bay Area? Why why why why why?!

I want some Cheesecake bites too. Is that so much to ask?

Next midterm is Art with the New York Knicks. Dude. We BETTER not fail art. That's all I'm gonna say.

Warrior Wonder: At least Kabuki was awake out there tonight. 23 points is not that bad for him. Granted he played way more minutes than normal but he does show some serious potential. Add him to the pile of unorganized talent we have out here. We have to get this figured out!

um
ok let's just stop talking about the game and talk about Sonics. That place looks really good but I can't find any. Anyone know where there is one?

by DaAzNJRiCh on Feb 28, 2007 9:15 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

I live in San Antonio
they have Sonics everywhere I've been to in Texas (the major cities). It's really good, there's a million options it always takes me like 10 minutes to decide what I want. And you never have to get out of your car - you park and they bring it out to you. And they have a million good deserts.

I miss In-N-Out tho...

Out near Grady
I think they have them out near Grady and Stockton, but trust me, they aren't worth the drive from the Bay Area.  Good, but not great.  Stick with In-n-Out

well if you insist the warriors have talent, then i insist over half the NBA has more talent.

Nellie already conceded it is over this year
from afar, nellie thought the W's have some talents but he realized he was wrong after the very first game they played.

It is over. Hopefully, they will draft better players. Mully will have 2 big decisions coming up: Ellis and AB.

If Mully stays, he must find ways to clean house this summer. JRich must go. JR is nice guy but he is not your goto guy. AH and Jax must go too if possible.

Please Mr Ellison, buy the team.

the sonics mystery...
there are no sonics in michigan, but they play those commericals ALL the time. i'm beginning to think its a big joke and that it really doesn't exist at all. white castle on the otherhand is all over the place around here...and those hamburgers smell like... just bad.

by dj fuzzylogic on Feb 28, 2007 10:12 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Opposite here....
White Castle commericals all of the time, I see none on Oklahoma.

Sonics are EVERYWHERE in Oklahoma. It's a nice place, Coney and Chili Cheese Wrap with root beer is awesome.

I have, however, tasted White Castle in Chicago. That crap is DISGUSTING. It's like biting into an onion, and I hate onions.

sonics
you drive to oregon from here and you pass a couple. there all up in socal. i no from  a road trip last year. we dont hav any white castles round here, but can i here any "hell yeah"'s to more in'n'outs needed?
as for the dubs, i am absolutely against tanking, cuz we wont get a top 2 pik and those r the only 2 that matter. so i think our lineup should be:
monta
kabuki
jr
powell
beads

and that lineup is not to tank, but to win. this is really sad. jr does not need to go, but besides him, monta, and andris,i dont particularly like anyone on the roster besides kabuki and powell, but i dunno wat the dillio is with them.

more proof
that the midwest sucks. they can't even get fast food right. they also have tons "clucks" (fried chicken if you couldn't tell) and "steak and shakes" (which are pretty damn good) except the burgers drip out probably 1/4 cup of grease. anyone ever had those two? we def. need in and out. they used to have an L and L's Hawai'ian bbq in the mall near my city, but it supposedly went out of business after like 3-4 months. god damnit i miss california. though... from the looks of things, i don't know if i miss watching the dubs get blown out. btw, i'm going to the pistons game on Monday, look out for me on TV!

When i was in Sac several months ago there was a Sonics set to open, so i'm guessing it's up and running by now.

As far as the W's, i've moved on from being mad.  I'm just sad, and i've only been doing this for 6 years.  I can't imagine the poor souls who've been around the entire drought.  Last year someone told me that being a W's fan is like suicide.  I just wish it wasn't such a slow and painful death.

Nope
Sonic taunts us. There is supposed to be one opening here by Arco. The sign is all they have put up in like, oh, a whole damn year. There is one in Woodland and their lime drink is IT. In and Out is great but not as good as Nation's on Webster in Alameda (if it is still there go for it.)

Barkley
When Barkley praised the Warriors last week, saying that we're the most dangerous team fighting for the playoffs, you knew something was wrong. He JINXED us.

We've resorted to talking about fastfood. In addition to In'n Out, lets throw up Fatburger and Cluck U's. Well, not literally throw up. Shout out?

by unblinded on Mar 1, 2007 12:01 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

Barkley
Jinx?  Or just more proof that Barkley is one of the many very good players who doesn't actually have that much insight into the game?  I've never really thought his opinion was worth much.  He buys into the hype as much as many fans do.

by jae on Mar 1, 2007 9:57 AM PST up reply actions   0 recs

mmm... FatBurger
To be fair, if we listened to Charles Barkley start talking about FatBurger, he might adopt a Isaac Hayes-esque voice and start crooning to his love (no, not longshot sports gambling).

It's okay.  We're due for a turnaround, we'll see us stop talking about Sonic Burger soon enough.

Forget this season!
Well my friends I'm pissed off to say the least and can't see when this crap will end! Best for the tem to start losing to get a better position in the draft as they are not that far ahead of Hawks, Bobcats, Sonics and Kings.

What I reckon the team needs to do:

1. Get a proper PF! Getting rid of dun and Murphy was great but Harrington is nothing special (definately not a proper PF) ans SJackson is good but both don't make the team win much and the team has actually gone backwards since the trade!
Trade Harrington and Baron and this draft's 1st rounder (which is likely no better than 7th pick)  to the Celts for Al Jefferson, Delonte, Ratliff and Wally. I know this is somewhat of a reach but Ratliff and Wally are just to make salaries work (though Wally is decent enough), Jefferson is an inside monster of sorts and Delonte could backup Monta, who has shown he can play PG well recently.

  1. Defense for f***'s sake! This just isn't working and better defense is a must! Harringon just does nothing, as do most of the guys. One or two guys improving their defense would make world's of difference but the team has to do this as a whole, which leads to the last thing -
  2. Get another coach! Nelson has shown that he can coach but this season was a disaster! He had the talent that liked to play his style of game and still he couldn't turn things around! Fratello is available so maybe he should be asked to take over. Just can't see Nelson make this situation any better
Can't believe that the team has done badly again and really only JRich, Monta and Biedrins should be the only definates to stay, everyone else is tradeable for more quality if possible

Man
can we get a win when we need it ever?  Will there be more trades in the future?  How long till we make the playoffs?  And can Hash get some cheesecake bites?  All questions that need some answering

What's new?
THE CLOSEST SONIC TO THE BAY AREA IS IN TRACY OFF HWY 205.

Otherwise, Warriors losing 4 in a row spells doom from us even challenging for the playoffs.  What's next?  When Baron is about to come back, someone else will go down with an injury.

Seems like this always happens as if no matter what, the Warriors are supposed to lose every season regardless of talent, coach, gm, schedule, ball, u name it.

"warriors by 1"
i say we just rename the blog and throw rationale out the window.

unless Cabarkapa and Baron qualify as a collective "plague", we no longer ARE plagued by injuries.  we WERE, indeed, but what's happened since the all-star break has sucked the breath out of all of us.

we're not doing this franchise any favors as fans by sugar-coating everything.  let's ease off the hero-worship a bit and start calling some things as they are.

i say david lee out-rebounds our starting 5 tomorrow night.  knicks by 11.  yeah, the knicks.  good GOD.

to quote the great Jim Barnett, Warriors employee and former Duck, "show some pride!"

by 321 IN n OUT on Mar 1, 2007 8:45 AM PST reply actions   0 recs

really doe
show some pride!  you know when a level headed professional loses his s*** and blurts that out it's the truth.  the last four games have been embarrasing.

monta isn't a point guard at all at this point in his development.  he does not see assist opportunities like a real point guard.  i love him, love his new found pull up jumper but we're not going anywhere with him as our starting 1.

here's who i'd put in detention:
pietrus-gone, please
harrington-jeez, better than murphleavy but not what we hoped for
roony-gone in the off season

where'd andris go the last few games? can someone give him a hug or something?  the kid looks freakin' listless and dejected.

the only thing to hold on to right now for me is seeing jrich doing his thing again.

sad, sorry ass Warriors and season
those are the only words I can use to describe this team, they have talent and totally agree that it is "unorganized talent" we dont have a roster where every position is defined. Agree that Nelson must go, I thought he was going to walk off the court in last nite's trashing by Chi-town. And no doubt the 3's must stop, and we have to establish a HALF COURT game!!!! I mean all we do is put AB in the post and he has no help, the rest of the guys stand outside of the arc passin the ball around and end up taking a horrible jump shot - have some plays to run in the halfcourt, forget Nellie Ball hasnt worked all reason - Agree that the only guys we should keep are Ellis, AB, and J-Rich - but Foyle, Baron, Ninja Turtle, SJackson, dont fit any defining role and are all overpaid, We need a true big man in the post to accomodate AB, Gasol would of been nice - imagine a front line with Gasol and AB, or if we get a nice lottery pick Oden in Warriors uni would be nice, just a pipe dream for now - look how sorry this team has become we're talking about Sonics!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to thank Hash for sparking this incredible converstion and the demystification of the Sonic chain. it times like this, we need some sort of brevity.

It's a Recurring Theme...
First off, Baron needs to go. If he will always get hurt, then we don't need him. He has yet to play a full season. Monta will be in his 3rd year next year and he shouldn't have any trouble learning the pg spot over the offseason and minimizing his turnovers. J-Rich just got back from injury so I believe his best chance of turning it up will be offseason and the next regular season. We give up Pietrus for some decent veteran power forward. Or Powell impresses and is a starting pf. Harrington shows he's an undersized pf and ain't much of a rebounder, so we slide him to sf since Pietrus should be gone anyway. Biedrins is the starting center of course. On the bench Sarunas, SJax, Kelenna, Barnes and O'Bryant who won't be reliable until his 3rd or 4th year. Not a bad bench. Hopefully we somehow get the lucky lotto number to land Durant or Oden. There's also Yi. On top of that, even though Joachim Noah is on the down, he may fit well with the Warriors. He fits Nelly's system of running up and down, but will be a defending pf and you put him alongside Biedrins? That sounds sweet. So with Monta, J-Rich, AL, Joakim and Biedrins; you have a punch of greyhounds. The sucky thing is, it's looking forward to next season as always and hoping we have healthy bodies. Again, I cannot stress enough how badly we need to dump Baron. He's a nice person, but unreliable. Monta can score better and takes better shots it's just his turnovers he needs to stop making. The fact that Baron is the former all star and the best player on the team along with him being labeled as he'll take them as far as he can pisses me off because he's always hurt. So please, somehow we need to dump the damaged good and look for a sucker who will accept.

New Coach
Nellie's done all he could with what he's inherited... and got in trade.  They have no go-to guy.  They have no PF.  All he could do was try to out run everybody... and it didn't work... not enough talent.

Time for a change at the top (again).

Nellie looks tired and fed up.  I smell a buy out.  If off season trades look tough, then change the coach.  The chemistry is not good.

What's Rick Barry doing now?  Better late than never.

Next Coach
Don Nelson said a while back that he could see Keith Smart eventually become coach. Kinda like Avery Johnson's growth under Nellie. And... what about Mario Elie?

Doesn't this "team" ever learn?!
What is anonying is everytime someone makes a mistake, all they do is clap their hands and doesn't seem to learn from it. Just pay attention and you'll see what I mean.  The road woes has to do with mental toughness.  This "team" doesn't have any!  The problem with defense that I can see is that they don't trust each on defense so they always over help, thus leaving their own man for open looks.  TIME TO DUMP THE ZONE AND GO MAN NELLIE! After all is said and done, their number 1 weakenss, in my own opinion, is their lack of mental toughness.  Translation, bad road record.  We as fans should stop spoiling our team and not support them at home.  I bet if we can fill the Oracle with the road team's crowds, the warriors would have an equally bad record at home.
