Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

OPEN THREAD: Game #66- Warriors vs Mavericks

Warriors (W-L): 29-36
Mavericks (W-L): 52-9
Time: 7:30pm PST
TV: FSN
Radio: KNBR 680

Do we really own the Mavs? Maybe we owned the Mavs of last year and early this year, but this team that's gone 52-5 after their 0-4 start? Color me skeptical.

After the loss in Portland, will this team recover? We're just 2-14 in 2nd game of a back to back so things don't look so rosy right now. But we're back at home, the fans will be going crazy, and Nellie badly wants to beat his former team and end their 17 game win streak.

This video always makes me smile no matter how bad things get.

Vegas Odds: Mavericks by 8 (as of 12:30pm PST).

Predictions:

  • Warriors by 1
  • Jason Richardson hits the game winner
  • Al Harrington gets 25-10

Make sure to give us your predictions in the comments before tip off and post any comments you have during the game right here.

Also make sure to head on over to SBNation Hoops brother site Mavs Moneyball and check out the game from their perspective.

THROW UP A W!

That baron plays tonight, and of course J-Rich the Marverick Killer will bust one too!

If Baron is back
we have a chance, a real legit chance.  If hes out we have the chance that the halfcourt heaves have of going in.  So please come back Baron, you saw what happened(against Portland no less), without the engine the car can't go.

Yeah
We have a lot of motivation behind us to win this game, but it all depends on if Baron comes back. Hopefully we can pull this one off like in Detroit. I don't want us looking like a headless chicken out there.

The Video
My favorite part of that video is seeing how stoked Barnett is when JRich comes over for the post game interview. Classic.

by olympicmike on Mar 12, 2007 1:10 PM PDT reply actions

yea..
thats pretty cool.. looks like jrich and barnett have more comradery than they normally show on camera by the way they interacted before the interview. Thats cool though, cuz Barnett is tite.

Please play tonight Baron... I'll be at the game, so please dont let me down, lets go for the win baby!! UNSTOPPABLE

WHAT!?????
How can you HATE BARNETT?  That guy is probably the dopest and least biased color commentator... Granted... I'm comparing him only to the ESPN, TNT and L.A. commentators but from what I've seen... his knowledge of the game as well as the professionalism to keep things honest about the Warriors... Not sugar coat everything.  That guy is a TRUE WARRIORS fan...

vitale..
...is ridiculous! Vitale is like Walton. i remember last year around this time, Vitale was on espn judging the draft class saying how everyone was "nba readier" cuz of their college training. SURPRISINGLY, Vitale had nothing glowing to say about Morrison OR Reddick--the two "best" college players last year. Although I find college hoops to be pretty exciting this year, I think his theory of college players being better than h.s. players is pretty suspect considering he purposely left out the two 'best' collegiate ball players tied in a scoring race--who both have come out looking pretty average or below average--in his analysis. Wack.

by dj fuzzylogic on Mar 12, 2007 5:55 PM PDT up reply actions

we are going to loose and we really suck
I have learned if we think the warriors are going to win the game they should they loose badly. if we we think they have no chance they win! so you know what Golden State sucks! Mavs are going to win by 30! All the 3's are not going to go down! the second half is going to be a disaster, Monta is gonna make shots but have bad decisions, Jason will look like beginning of the year richardson. come on people add more the more stuff we say the better they will be!

by 24k state fan since 87 on Mar 12, 2007 5:14 PM PDT reply actions

reverse hatology
Allright, here goes...  Mavs by at least 30, if not more.  In fact, I think I'm gonna go pick up a Mavs jersey on my way to the game.  For the Mavs: Dirk goes for 42/10, Howard gets 20/10, and Stackhouse brings 20+ off the bench.  For the Warriors: team shoots less than 20% from 3PT, Foyle blows multiple layups/dunks, and Monta has at least one nasty mamachewbacca dunk on somebody.

Good. Lord.

If you missed this game, you better have been dead or in jail. Or dead in jail. Or maybe you died and for some odd reason they took your body to jail instead of the morgue, which to my understanding is where they would normally take one who just died. I don't know, maybe you dropped dead right in the middle of committing some sort of crime and they took your body to jail just in case you resurrected or something. You can never be too careful nowadays.

Why do I have a feeling tomorrow, the Warriors will go off the charts in Power Rankings?

But we gotta keep playing like we did in the 1st half. I'm pretty sure the shooting won't be there, but we gotta keep up this defensive intensity .. we're causing so many turnovers.

some of my thoughts
this team is playing great w/out baron this game but don't let that fool you.  they suck without him starting.  he gives them a boost and starts them going in the right direction.  if baron didnt play this game we would have SUCKED.  also Dirk is a little bitch/winer.  I never have really liked the guy.  I mean COME ON.  you are the best freakin team in the league and you start throwin a tizzy fit when you lose.  Lose with some class!!! Take the loss, learn from it and move on.  they should be focusing on the playoffs not getting worked up over this game right now.

by allthatjazz on Mar 12, 2007 10:13 PM PDT up reply actions

Totally agree
but just to be anal, for this game, they showed a graphic in the third or whatever, where with baron they were +1, without, +19. Obviously, i know thats that the full story, but yeah.

I was so desperate
to go to the game tonight to get the free beanie... little did I know what else I was missing out on....  =*(

warriors love
Knowing it would be the first story on sportscenter, I flicked over with a minute to go. Of course, Steve Levy was talking trash 'Warriors in a blowout win... this is the Warriors we're talking about!'

Yo Steve, did you see the Pistons game... at Detroit?

Dallas is still our beeotch!

by allthatjazz on Mar 12, 2007 10:12 PM PDT reply actions

Wasn't
even an upset. We knew they'd get this game all along.

by DubsDominate on Mar 12, 2007 10:13 PM PDT reply actions

so true
aside from complete domination in last season's Warriors/Mavs series; Dallas aka Property of the Warriors Mavs, this is all karma because at the beginning of the season Mark Cuban wanted to delay the raising of the West Conference Champs banner to their 2nd home game (which was the Warriors) instead of having it at their first home game (SA Spurs). Karma is such a B----! The Basketball Gods see all and have a really funny sense of humor!

by ZombieWarrior on Mar 12, 2007 10:17 PM PDT up reply actions

I can't believe
that the warriors let the Mavs score a 100

by chili01 on Mar 12, 2007 10:15 PM PDT reply actions

mavs killer
woo, loved the game.

from the start with Dallas' sloppy turnovers that lead to the quick 8-0 you could sense a Warriors will win.

Seems the Mavs didn't come out at all and expected the Warriors will just roll over and play dead.

by ufwa on Mar 12, 2007 10:16 PM PDT reply actions

Well...
That was because of some major garbage time 31 points in the 4th quarter. I always hope they hold the other team down to like 80 even when we score like 120 though. Makes it look cooler.

by DubsDominate on Mar 12, 2007 10:18 PM PDT reply actions

That ^
was to the 100 point thing, btw.

by DubsDominate on Mar 12, 2007 10:18 PM PDT reply actions

Can anybody say
2nd round of the Playoffs???

Warriors will upset the 1 seed!

I don't know what's sexier...
...tonight's win or Jessica Alba.

Spit Spit Spit
at even making me have look at such a question. Jessica Alba. End of story.

Great win though.

Alba ... no question
because I'm happy with the win, but soured from a loss to the blazers!!

I expect...
the phattest phat recap of all phat recaps this season guys.

If it doesn't make me laugh I will consider it a collosal failure.

Thanks alot Sportscenter...
Quick update came up and displayed the score as 117-110.  Way to spot em 10 points.  Oh well...

TMNT Pietrus
I love how they have a picture of TMNT but say "Mickael" in the caption.

Another thing.. those damn sportscenter anchors can't pronounce "Mickael".. they pronounced it as "Michael".. and they screwed up Biedrins name too.. HATERS.

Today
I am truly proud to be a Warriors fan. I can proclaim it with my head held high.

On ESPN.com
after the pistons game, we shot up 6 spots on the daily rankings. What now Stein?!!!!

by racsan on Mar 12, 2007 10:46 PM PDT reply actions

I actually felt pretty good at halftime for once
because we weren't ahead on hot three point shooting; we were dissecting the Dallas defense for layup after layup after dunk after layup.

UNDFTD
So far our Super 5 are undefeated and I've been to each home game with the same shoes on. I'm deeming them lucky since, after all, they're Nike's Golden State version of the Air Force XXV.

Tonight's game was great. Great energy throughout. I had some great lower bowl seats; and I sat behind a great kid who high-fived after every point scored...even free-throws! Great. Just great.

The only setbacks for me tonight were sinus pressure from a cold, and the fact that my favorite All Star Warrior Girl wasn't there. :*(

GOLDEN SPANK!!!

btw
That little guy Barea on the Mavs is listed at 6-0 ft. If he's 6 ft. tall, then Monta is a 6'8" Power Forward. That dude could've been mistaken for a ball boy. . .or the choreographer for the Jr. Jam Squad.

LOLz
yeah, i think he would've made earl boykins look tall.

:D

earlier this year
the minnesota timberblahs ended the suns' 17th winning streak.

today, on this fateful night,
the golden state warriors annhilated the mavs' 17th winning streak

our next game is against minnesota,
how ironic?

by allthatjazz on Mar 12, 2007 11:05 PM PDT reply actions

and also
this isn't much media exposure but for starters, remember to vote for JR on the lower left column of the main page on nba.com tonight!

Damn I missed the game
Does anyone have a tape of this game?

by nautica on Mar 12, 2007 11:31 PM PDT reply actions

Wait
They have Nike Air Force 25 Warrior editions??? Do you have pics?

by DaAzNJRiCh on Mar 12, 2007 11:37 PM PDT reply actions

Its yellow/white/blue/grey
http://www.pickyourshoes.com/collectible/nike_air_force_25_c2c_warriors.htm

But I figure Jason and Harrington get their own customized "player editions" as well which us normal folks can't buy in our own sizes.
