New webpin

For the past hour and a half i've been trying to figure out how to make my signature work and get the picture resized that i copied off of highlight video of Monta. I finally figured out how to get the image to show and would appreciate if someone could give it some help and make it GSoM webpin worthy. I have the picture as my signature and for the title i have Rise Of A Legend. Any help would be appreciated since i'm photoshop illiterate. The quality isn't that great cause i took it off a video but it's a tight picture with Monta soring up for a dunk.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

here

It would be nice if you can host it to your own photobucket, as I frequently clean out my photobucket every month.  Tried to my best to clean it up by the image's quality was just not good. Hope this helps.

You sure about that image, JR4MVP?
There were much hotter, crisper shots from that game posted in the Rookie/Sophomore game thread.

Aw heck, you twisted my arm ... I love playing in Photoshop. In keeping with the theme of your original image -- i.e. Monta rising over his fellow rookies/sophs -- see if you like either of these options (if you don't want the same typeface I used for my "LIFE MOVES FAST" signature, well, tough...)

If you like them, and want turn either into a pin, talk to Atma. But tell him I'd prefer that he didn't muck it up with all the "Golden State of Mind" stuff...

that's what i was thinking
that middle one is tight as hell. if you don't mind i'd much rather use that one as my webpin. shoot, i'm even gonna make it my desktop on my computer. thanks a lot man.

Aw shucks
I'm flattered. Maybe when he hits it big time -- like say, in this year's playoffs -- we can market it to Nike (or whatever brand of kicks he wears) as a promotional poster. How many GSoMers would put that on their wall?

I love the image too: the way the right arm is so perfectly cocked at a 90° angle, with the left arm so perfect straight, and the perfect spacing of all his contemporaries looking up ... plus the cool dragon-like all-star-game graphics descending from above... Yeah, my rule #1 of Graphic Design is when you have an image that hot, the best thing you can do is not mess with it too much. Just cropped it a bit and placed your awesome slogan on it, and (woot) there it is.

by Sleepy Freud on Mar 15, 2007 1:20 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

not only...
...perfect spacing of contemps....but also the fact that they are all in their own colors.

sweet.

by TMC Forever on Mar 15, 2007 2:07 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm down
to market it to Nike or I think he might wear And 1, but whatever, you can take 70% since you did most of the work and I just came up with the slogan. Maybe those lower bowl season tickets aren't as far away as I thought...

PLAYOFFS!!!

COOL...
idea to use it as the desktop background!  I just did that and it doesn't look all that bad.  I think if you guys posted a higher quality pic up here, it would be even better!

The picture is already worth a thousand words, but your slogan definitely adds depth and meaning!  Whoever took the pic should get some props as well!  Great photography!  The spacing of the other players looking up at ELLIS in awe is tight!

GOOD JOB GUYS!!!

Awesome
Harrington is definitely of the order Testudines. And who doesn't love turtles?

Nice photoshop work too. "Stencil" letters or not, I like that more GSoMers are trending away from the boring standard template (sorry Atma) and playing around with integrating type and image.

OK, to be a total graphics nerd: you know what really bugs me about the design of the webpin, even more the fact that it's boring? The way the gradient fill in the letters flips after GOLDEN STATE and before OF MIND. Basically, the powers-that-be just took apart the two lines of type under the main GSoM logo (which looks fine) and made them into a single line, without taking the 30 seconds necessary to make the gradient consistent.

Down with the standard-template webpin! Up with self-expression!

by Sleepy Freud on Mar 15, 2007 4:57 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

haha.
Yeah. I just decided to follow your lead with the little warriors logo in the bottom left, and the stencil text. I was thinking of putting "Warrior in a half shell, Turtle Power!"

But I already finished this one when I came up with the idea.

i'll give it to Al
he pulls off a ninja turtle better than anyone else in the NBA, sam cassel might give him a run for his money though with his alien shaped head.

:( Scary.
Samuel James Cassell is scary.
