OPEN THREAD: Game #71 - Warriors @ Lakers
Warriors (W-L): 33-37
Lakers (W-L): 37-32
Time: 6:30PM PST tip off
The battle continues.
Currently half a game out of the 8 spot, the Warriors are embarking on a rough three game series. Starting tonight against the Lakers, they will continue onto the Spurs, then move onto the Suns.
This is not the schedule that one would wish for given the volatility of our playoff position. But I don't think that the time for despair is upon us just yet.
Since our team has regained its health, we have all been treated to a brand of Warriors basketball that we haven't seen all season. There's a chance to do something special here.
Tonights game is going to be all about containing Kobe. He's in the middle of a super hot streak, scoring over 50 points in his last four games. But if there's one team that's capable of breaking a streak, it's us. Just ask the Mavs!
Countering Kobe's offense and coming prepared with a little offense of our own. Containing the unnecessary 3's and taking the high percentage shots. These are the things that will give us the W tonight.
Let the games begin!
Vegas Odds: Lakers by 4.5. They are on a 4 game win streak right now and we're facing them on their home floor. Yet at the end of the day, we need this game more than them, I think we're going to be looking at a close one tonight.
GSoM Prediction: Warriors by 2.
Make sure to drop your vote for who you think will win in the Comments. If you're watching or listening near a computer, post any comments you have during the game right here.

LET'S DO THIS WARRIORS!!!
UPDATE: Live Box Score from Yahoo!
UPDATE 2: Warriors lose by 2. 113-115.
Stay tuned for the recap...

Keys to the game:
- Kobe can get his as long as Marice Evans, Kwame Brown, Luke Walton, and [insert random Laker player] don't put up crazy numbers.
- Foul trouble. In the early going especially the Warriors can't pick up ticky-tack fouls. Don't give the the refs any excuse to call those phantom fouls on #24 in the early going.
- Control the glass. It's going to be hard, but it's crucial.
- Push the tempo up. The Lakers can't run with the Warriors. The Dubs are just too fast and quick. DO NOT play a slowdown game with the Lakers.
- Boom Dizzle and Monta Ellis need to dominate the Lakers at their weakest areas- point guard and containing lightening quick little men.

Just came from the game
Turning point of the game: Monta's dribble of his foot right in to the hands of a gift-wrapped three pointer, cutting the lead from a solid 8 to a precarious 5. After that, we were reminded once again of 12 years of futility. Bless Monta's heart, he was amazing in that game, but that play killed us.
Unbelievable stats of the game. There are two: 24 to 8, our edge in turnovers. The Warriors were stellar putting pressure on the Lakers all night, leading to this disparity. One would think we should have dominated this game with that stat alone, except for........63 to 33, Lakers rebounding edge. This is absolutely unacceptable; it's not like the Lakes are known for their rebounding prowess. No box outs, no hunger for the long rebound, Runi Turiaf looking like Ben Freakin' Wallace.
Goats of the game: B-diddy. Coming off one his best games of the season, this was disappointing, but we know he just never ever ever does well against the Lakers. EVen worse. S-Jax. The first two minutes were atrocious for him. He made some plays but also made too many costly mistakes and ill-advised shots. This is my first time seeing him live, and he was really a non-factor.
Great game, otherwise. As Warrior fans, we really have a lot to be proud of, I just wonder if we'll ever be able to sustain these efforts for more than just 20 games in a regular season.
Let's keep the faith. We can do this!!!!
