Coma's Corner - Week 17

I've decided that I'm going to start posting a weekly recap of the Warriors, and call it coma's corner.

This week is the 7th. I think I'll call this the 4th Quarter collapse week.

This Week's Games:
2/27 Loss at Milwaukee (101-122)
2/29 Loss at Chicago (83-113)
3/2 Loss at New York (97-106)
3/4 Stolen at Washington (106-107)

So this week, we've gone winless, and beyond we've dropped six straight. While it's getting harder and harder to watch this team on the road, there's always the excitement of getting Baron Davis back (last I heard is he would play either tomorrow or Wednesday.) And while our hopes for playoffs have been dashed, the return of Baron will mark the first games of the season we can watch and honestly say that this our starting five (as intended at the beginning of the season, or most recently after the trade. Too little, too late, but it will at least be nice to see what the coaches/gm's had in mind at the beginning of the season.

Anyways, getting to it.

2/27 Loss at Milwaukee (101-122)
The loss from Milwaukee was particularly nasty, and here's why: it totally exposed our lack of a banger 4. And while we've known it all season, as soon as Milwaukee beat up on us, it seems like the rest of the NBA got the memo. Probably the hardest part of this week was watching teams let the Warriors toy with the score, only to get it jacked right back out of their hands in the middle of the 4th. That, as a fan, is the hardest thing for me to watch. Knowing that the Warriors have really know control over the result of the game.

While Milwaukee's record really doesn't do this Playoff quality when healthy team justice. They played very well, and easily racked up the fouls on Biedrins. You know that's the key to an easy win right there, is take our agile big man right out of the game. There's not really much more to say. This was also the start of a much harder Warriors team to watch. They have always shot too many threes. But it seems that on the road, that's all they ever settle for. The logical choice in my opinion would to be to go to the basket and get to the line. It just seems like they don't wanna do it that way, and that's pretty weak. Many times you will see them slowing down the tempo (which is something they should never want to do), by just running down, holding the ball for 20 or so seconds, and hoisting up a low-percentage three. This has gotta stop. That's all I'm gonna say here. They got blown out, and I don't feel like talking about it.

2/29 Loss at Chicago (83-113)
I watched this entire game, (I watched every game this week, front to back, with an exception of the last 3 minutes of the New York game), and I can't remember a damn thing about it. I don't know if that's to say that it was boring, or what. I know I do remember this heartbreaker, TWO (not one, but TWO) no names came out and hammered us for 36 points. Adrian Griffin, and Thabo Sefolosha. Go ahead and check out those two guys, and their averages by clicking their respective names. That is particularly devastating and disheartening. I think that's all I'll say about this game. The pie is in the sky, if you will.

3/2 Loss at New York (97-106)

Now, while the score dictates that this game wasn't very close, I will say this: the score does no accurately depict the game that our beloved Warriors played. They played hard, and for a change this was the first week that they stayed in a game beyond the beginning of the third quarter. Even though Quentin Richardson always has that big game ability, he was the "scrub" that went off on us on Friday. They had the Thunder's Patented Fourth Quarter Collapse Ale on tap at the beerstands at the Garden, and the fans got wasted on it. So wasted in fact, a New York Warriors fan recounts his tales of the super drunk in this doozy Warriors literally sicken fans at the Garden.

3/4 Stolen at Washington (106-107)
Okay so, I watched this game pretty front to back. I was enjoying the back and forth nature, and the lack of defense. So, the Warriors are cutting themselves a pretty nice chance to win this game, and it stayed that way until the very end. That's when absolute horror struck: The refs literally changed the outcome of the game at the end. Just like that, they just took a win right out of their hands and put it in to the hands of the Wizards. Now, I've been particularly harsh on the refs for their lack of respect for the Warriors, and I'll say right now that it's understood. When you're the bottom of the barrel, you aren't gonna get much love. But this game was over. The foul was called after the buzzer rang. You can't reverse it. It's not football.

I recently saw a post blaming Nelson. Screw that noise, if I was the head coach, I would have gotten myself ejected. Bring attention to this blatant hate and tampering. It's one thing when it's justified. It wasn't. If refs are going to all the sudden start calling fouls in the final seconds of the game, then do it. But don't make an example out of the dubs. Caron Butler got at least 3 of his 5 steals by reaching in, and quite blatantly if you ask me. The call he got was well deserved because he had been getting away with it all day. So I don't even want to hear arguments that it was what comes around goes around. Not enough comes around for the Warriors for the game to be stolen like that. That's all I'll say here.

Well, that's it for my recap. Straight up, I'm gonna put a poll here. I'm planning to do this every week. Not that it's gonna make a difference, but I just like throwing my opinion out there. If you guys liked reading this, vote yes. If you found it stupid and useless, vote no. But first and foremost, be honest, cuz I won't do it if it's a waste of my time.

Seeya next week.

Poll
Did you enjoy Coma's Corner enough to warrant reading it weekly?
  • Yeah, for sure.
  • Nah, was weak.

I blame Nelson
he really should've been quiet. Take the OT. When it comes right down to it, this is maybe one of what, 10 games in NBA history that a COACH has lost and not the TEAM?

But, But...
There's no balance there. The T shouldn't have been called in the first place. I saw no yelling whatsoever while watching the game.

If he just sits back and doesn't argue the call he doesn't look like a General to his troops. You've gotta argue that every time.

exactly
knowing the situation, the refs should have shown restraint. the refs/league will put out some spiel in order to justify it, but the fact that this has become the topic of conversation instead of the game itself, shows what a mistake it was.
