OK...
This is an "un-open thread." But if this fails -- like the last two main board game threads did -- I'm gonna boycott GSoM till we go back to one of the "lucky" thread-starters... ;-)

I predict LA wins too.

I think
it goes to head to head matchup between everyone involved. So our combined rec against NOK, LAC, and LAL, compared to their combined recs. That's off the top of my head though I didn't feel like researching after this depressing game

playoff tiebreakers
http://www.nba.com/statistics/playoff_picture.html

Unless I'm reading it wrong, it seems that for anything more than a 2-way tie, it goes to division records (if all teams are in the same division) or conference records otherwise.  So a 3-way tie between LAL, LAC, and GSW would be BAD.  But, a 4-way tie between LAL, LAC, GSW, and NOK would actually help us, becuase then it would go to conference records.

Very entertaining team basketball, sure a nice change from watchin small ball. 'Funny thing is the Lakers might end up the odd man out when this is all over.

thats a good perdiction, but im sure the lakers wont end up like that. both teams own tie brakers over us.

by stevenro59 on Apr 12, 2007 10:58 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

It could happen
Lakers go 1-2
Clippers go 3-1
Warriors go 4-0

and the Lakers are OUT.

It's even that unlikely. The only mild upset it would take would be the Lakers losing v. Sacramento or Seattle. One of those could easily happen.

SLEEPY
ARE WE IN ON A QUADRUPLE TIE?

by VonteegoCummings on Apr 12, 2007 11:19 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think ... not
I'm guessing the way you'd figure it out is to total up all the head-to-head games among the teams and see which two teams did the best. And the fact that we went 0 and 4 against the cocksuckingLakers would likely kill us.

Yes, this result truly sucks. I hate the Lakers more than I have at any point since the refs handed them the Western Conf Championship v. the Kings.

by coma on Apr 12, 2007 10:54 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Why everyone hatin on the LAL???
I think the Warriors were winners no matter who won, cause though the Clips won we still gained a half game on the Lakers making us closer to the 7th seed and the Clips are most likely gonna lose to the Suns next so it eventually evens out. Maybe we can get 7, but do we really want it? Or should we stay in the 8th and face the Mavs.

by ballin on Apr 12, 2007 10:59 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

because sir.....
THIS IS THE ONLY REMAINING GAME IN THE SCHEDULE THAT AN OPPONENT WILL ACTUALLY PLAY TO WIN AGAINST THE CLIPPERS!  AND AS WE ALL KNOW, EVEN IF WE WIN OUT (GO 4-0) AND IF THE CLIPPERS DO THE SAME, WE ARE OUT!!!

WITH THIS WIN, THE CLIPPERS JUST ENSURED THAT FACT BY OWNING THE TIE BREAKER OVER US SINCE THEY HAVE 7 WINS WHILE, EVEN IF WE WIN TOMORROW, WE WILL ONLY HAVE 6.

SO NO, WE DIDNT WIN.  EVEN IF WE DONT PLAY THE LAKERS, WE STILL LOSE.....HOW FREAKING SICKENING IS THAT?

THE LAKERS STILL MANAGE TO INFLICT PAIN EVEN IF WERE NOT PLAYING!!!!!!!

by VonteegoCummings on Apr 12, 2007 11:16 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Our playoff chances
Just went down. A lot. I'd say from like 70% (if the MFLakers had won) to more like 45%. And we still don't control our own fate. Basically this game sucked as badly as a Warriors loss would suck.

by Sleepy Freud on Apr 12, 2007 11:21 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sorry Guys
Thanks for all the support over at Forum Blue and Gold, sorry we couldn't get you a win tonight. But, that's pretty much what the last month of Laker basketball has looked like.

Frankly, if I were the Mavs (or Suns) I'd rather face the Lakers than your Warriors right now, you guys are starting to put it together.

Seriously, how does Corey Maggette shoot 24 free throws?  Kobe only shot 15, and he's a super-star...

by MVP on Apr 13, 2007 12:13 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

man one game goes a long way now...
the clips just need to loose one game...on a side note, just a thought...tomorrow Lakers vs. Suns who would you rather win?

Two different scenarios im pondering...

  1.  If the Lakers win they keep the Suns from taking the second seed away from the spurs who are two back...Which hopefully will help us next week when the suns meet the clips so that the suns come out fighting for thier second seed when the face the clips...i checked out the spurs schedule and thier schedule is a little weaker then the suns so they could gain some ground on them until next week...
  2.  If the Suns win then the Lakers need to loose one more so that the 7th seed will be up for grabs assuming that the dubs and clips go undefeated...
Which has more of a possibility of happening and which would you prefer?

I think the Dubs are still in better shape considering team chemistry compared to the clips...The dubs are a far better team right now and so I still believe the pressure is on the clips to go undefeated cause we know the dubs are more then capable of doing that for the last 4 games...the problem is right now they own the tie breaker and they got Sam back and he seems to be lighting fires up their a$$es when he plays...It sux cause we kinda witnessed that against the Lakers tonight...

Just some thoughts on the dubs situation currently...

by RubberDubDubs on Apr 13, 2007 1:06 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I think the Dubs are still in better shape
"considering team chemistry compared to the clips..'

Yes, The clips are playing without livingston which is like us playing without baron so we should have the edge. The clips do have elton brand though which is a big positive in an area where we are lacking and sam will talk them into the playoffs if he possibly can. The next few days should be interesting! I'd love to see the clips and the warriors win out and the lakers fall.

by Skeptic con Urquell on Apr 13, 2007 9:39 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

My hatred for the lakers has just multiplied 100x.
The one time in my life that I root for the lakers, they lose.  This is the last time I will ever root for the lakers.  I hope they go on a 4 game losing streak...

by ThermoElectro on Apr 13, 2007 1:28 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Walton sucks
In the last 2 weeks, I've cheered for the Lakers 3 more times than I've cheered for them in my entire life.  Now I'm hoping Suns and Kings beat 'em and they get knocked out.  On the flip side, if they beat the Suns tonight, then San Antonio will only be 1 game back for 2nd in the West...meaning Suns will have to play tough against the Clips next week.  Mais non!  Fuk that!  Lakers goin down!  Beat LA!
