A Maverick Perspective on their L's this Season
Here we go. Fellow SB Nation hoops blog, Mavs Moneyball has started to explain away their 3 losses to the Warriors this season. The Mavs Losses to Golden State in Context
Excuses. Excuses. All the "explanations" and excuses for why the Mavericks got swept in the season series just sounds like some fans who are scared of facing the Warriors. Look you got beat, suck it up and deal with it. The Warriors were a better team on those days. I could explain why those weren't bigger wins too due to some circumstances with the Warriors, but I won't. We won, they lost. They're a 67 win team, they should have nothing to fear or excuse.
What's missing from the article? Well, not once does it say anything about the Warriors actually playing a good game. Such as in game 2, the reason Dirk had one of his worst games was because Stephen Jackson played great defense. The reason the Mavs had so many turnovers is because the Warriors have greatly improved their defense and lead the league in steals. I'm not saying it's going to happen again, but there are reasons why the Warriors won.
Look Maverick fans clearly have the upper hand in any trash talk. They went to the finals last year and they've been in the playoffs year after year. What they don't have is that hunger that we Warrior fans have. We've been starving for a long long time and when the Mavs come to Oakland, you can be sure we'll be louder than the Maverick fans in Dallas. For an example of some spoiled Mavs fans, check out the comment left by chevs10zr2:
just looked at their website... you would've thought they just won the championship!! WOW they are so pumped up and excited just to be there! Even some of the brightsideofthesun guys have gone over there and congratulated them!! Haha... this is too funny. Little do they know, their days of celebrating will come to an end after 5 games.
It DID feel like winning a championship. There were no expectations and we were able to upset the Jazz in 5 after going down two games. Then, in the next round, we lost to the Spurs 4 games to 1. I didn't care about Round 2 -- it was rewarding enough to see progress. The tough thing about being a Mavs fan is now the only progress left is winning the Finals, which to me is the second-hardest trophy to win (Stanley Cup being the hardest).
The Warriors are extremely dangerous because they're the hottest team in the league right now (winning 9 out of their last 10), and can play loose. That one loss was to the Spurs in a rout -- I bet the Mavs scouts and coaches will look at that DVD.
It's great for the NBA to have a team with a loyal fan base like those in the Bay Area in the playoffs. I wish them all the best in the future, but the Mavs time is now.
Blog battles baby. The gauntlet has been thrown down. The only way to get the Mavs fans from talking trash, is to just shut them up by winning. Let's go Warriors.
A look back at the Warriors-Mavs regular season series this year:

Nothing wrong with "excuses"
All bickering aside, I'm sure both sides can agree that the first real fight will happen this Sunday. I can't wait!

DON'T FORGET
MAVS fans are definitely spoiled, by CUBAN that is! They need to watch what they say though, because I thought at one point during the season CUBAN actually thought about selling the team! I wonder what MAVS blogger chevs10zr2 would say then!
GOOD LUCK to us, but they're the ones that will be needing it!

WHO WROTE THAT ARTICLE???
- He doesn't make any point in #9. What that they both haven't played each other at full strength while both teams have peaked? Well I'm waiting for the sun and moon to align again for another solar eclipse, but I know that doesn't happen very often! Excuses!
- The W's stink defensively? Okay so we're not the best defensive team in terms of points given up, but we're tops in steals and causing turnovers! And doesn't this guy recall the time when the MAVS (coached by yours truly NELLIE) didn't play defense either and relied on their "juggernaut" of an offense? Excuses!
- Smallball vs. Allball? What the hell is Allball? Is that him grabbing his balls while watching the game or something? Did he forget that when NELLIE coached there, he actually loaded up on Bigball to throw out at SHAQ? What's the difference? Only that Smallball actually works! Start Devean George? haha And then what? Excuses!
- Playing loose and having the kind of free-wheeling offense the W's play are 2 different things! I know NELLIE wouldn't slow the game down, because it's not what the W's do best! Besides, although the MAVS could score in the 100's during the time NELLIE coached them in the playoffs, they weren't exactly a run-n-gun type team! So I don't have any doubts that NELLIE will let the team run, run and run some more! Excuses!
- I think because of the fact that the W's haven't been in the PLAYOFFS for so long, that they'll definitely want to cherish it and do what they can to stay in contention! We're not just happy to be in the PLAYOFFS and we didn't just get there to be happy and go home! It's a different ballgame now and we're in it to win it! Excuses!
- Hopefully we won't need a "Mr. Big Shot", because we'll be playing as a team, which was exemplified last night! Passing the ball and playing team defense! And besides, I wouldn't want anybody else to take a big shot other than BOOM DIZZLE, or did Mr. article guy forget about him? Maybe he should check out the games against HOUSTON and SEATTLE! Excuses!
1. He talks about the MAVS remembering last season and having to wait a whole year to get back into the PLAYOFFS and hopefully back in the NBA FINALS, but he needs to remember too, that the W's haven't been to the PLAYOFFS in 13 freakin long years!
1 year...13 years! 13 years is more than a decade in the making! Hmmm...who do you think wants it more? The W's will definitely ride this HIGH into the PLAYOFFS and hopefully all the way to the NBA FINALS!!! This is a different atmosphere that the W's (except for JAX) and the WARRIORS NATION know anything about, but who cares! If the W's play the way we know they can, anything is possible...just like making the PLAYOFFS after 13 years!
