Post Game 2 Links

Game 1 was fun, but Game 2 was very disappointing. Still, with a 1-1 split the Warriors have the home court advantage in this series.

If you want to sip some serious Haterade this morning check out the Dallas Mavericks Blog from The Dallas Morning News. There's lots of Warrior hating from people who don't do their homework:

On the bright side there might be some very good news today for the Warriors:

Dallas
Damn, I was hoping for a fight to ensue, perhap a running drop kick to Devin Harris by Adonal Foyle and the re-emergence of Popeye Jone from a zipline coming down to fight Jose Barbea.

i got a request
does anyone have video of BD's post game locker room interview?

when he was saying "I am Stephen Jackson's strength and he is my strength" or something like that?

The said
That they were each others "shrinks"- as in mental health professionals.

Sounds like somebody's practicing medicine without a license.

Whatever happens
The Warriors have already exceeded expectations in this series.  Taking a game at Dallas shows that the Mavs are vulnerable.

The two keys...
First, the W's have not figured out Josh Howard -- who killed them last night.  JRich can't keep up with him.  It's gonna have to be Pietrus or Al, and neither shown much thus far.  We've corralled Dirk thus far; stop Howard and you stop the Mavs.

Second, True Hoop points out just how effective Diop has been when he's in the game.  He's had the biggest +/- rating in both games -- and topped out at +27 yesterday, meaning that the Mavs outscored the W's almost a point a minute while he was in the game.  His clogging of the middle has killed drives to the hoop and allowed tighter perimeter defense.  Al hasn't shown much when Diop's in.  It's gonna have to be AB, and Nellie's got to get him jump started -- and fast.

Still, we can play with these boys, but we've got to run and move -- all the time.  We can get open shots if we do that; we didn't last night.  We should be able to tomorrow.  Let's see.

Very true
First, the W's have not figured out Josh Howard -- who killed them last night.  JRich can't keep up with him.  It's gonna have to be Pietrus or Al, and neither shown much thus far.  We've corralled Dirk thus far; stop Howard and you stop the Mavs.

I'm more worried about Josh Howard than Dirk, Terry, or Stack. The Warriors don't have an answer to him right now. He's thoroughly outplayed JRich, MP2, and Al Harrington on both ends of the floor.

On a side note, Josh Howard is an excellent ball player. Credit to the Mavs and Nellie for swooping him up with that last pick of the 1st round a few years back. What an absolute steal.

Righto!
I love the kid; wish he were a W (and he'd fit right in with this bunch).  What I SHOULD have added, tho, was that --apart from his terrific offense -- perhaps the biggest defensive change the Mavs made, beside playing their bigs more, was putting Howard on BD.  He shut BD down.  I have no doubt that BD's frustrationn stemmed as much from Howard as it did from the refs.

What to do? Run the kid thru some screens (a short shot of Foyle, perhaps?).  He's tough, but he isn't in as good shape as the w's, and he'll wear down.  Avery counters that with broader substitution, but BD is smart: he'll figure it out and adjust.

Boy, I'd almost forgotten how much fun a long series can be.

Terry
Did a really good job one on one with Baron in the 3rd before the ejection.  I was surprised, I didn't think he could.  Harris certainly wasn't able to.
