Update on Jackson and JRich status for Game 6

Janny Hu updated on blog that Jackson won't be fined or suspended by the league.

As for Stephen Jackson, who was thrown out after just one technical foul for clapping with 8.9 seconds to go, I just got word from the league that he's in the clear. No fines. No suspension. The NBA isn't looking into anything.

Star-divide

However, JRich is still being investigated for an altercation with a fan.

The league is still investigating Jason Richardson's encounter with a Mavericks fan following his three-point attempt with about 20 seconds left in Game 5. Richardson's momentum carried him into the front-row seats and he got tangled up with a fan, who later went to NBA security about how testy things got as Richardson tried to extract himself and get back down the court.

Richardson brushed off the incident this morning, saying that "nothing really happened," no words or shoves were exchanged either way, and that he hadn't spoken to league officials yet.

I really hope JRich doesnt get suspended.  From what he's saying, it sounds like he got tangled up and the fan impeded him from getting back on the court.

If Jason gets suspended
that's rediculous.  He was being held from the court and he didn't do anything malicious.  The Mavs are dirty and we still look like the better team so let's just shut them out on thrs and move on.

ps I love the playoffs.  this is way too fun

and if it is proven
that he was being held back. The fan should be banned from the arena, you can't interfere with the game like that.

man
what a wimpy fan in Lil D. What he/she needs to realize that the game is still going on! players need to get up as fast as they can, and if you're lying on top of them, of course they're gonna push you off to get up.

I believe this is just a conspiracy to keep J Rich from game 6.

"im a lot smarter than ppl think" gotta love sj
-and if jr did do something like that, the fan had to deserve it, i mean come on ITS JR

by Dub Life on May 2, 2007 1:24 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

i loved that quote too
jackson's full "smarter than you think" quote went like this:

"If I wanted to blow up, I could've blew up then. Why blow up when there's 8 seconds left when the game is over? It doesn't make no sense," he said. "Do I have 'moron' written on my forehead when I walk out on the court or something? I don't. ... I'm smarter than a lot of people think. I'm going to continue to play basketball and do what I do."

man, between this quote and his heckling of sir charles....i'm really beginning to love this guy!

fitz and brooks
on KNBR they just said that when JR was knocked down by Dirk on his 3pt attempt, some fans tried to prevent him from getting up and then went on to file a complaint against him.  They said there's no way JR gets any disciplinary action for this.  HOPE SO!

not to mention...
that on the play in question, jrich was obviously fouled on the play. if that was dirk shooting and one of our players reaching out against him, automatic foul. lets hope the refs even things out next game.

Typical Soft Dallas Treatment...
Metropolitan angst at its finest. The Dallas fans in the lower bowl look like they're going to a club, with the tight diesel jeans and collared shirts. For good and bad, Cuban's instilled a stylish, en vogue culture around the Mavs.

If a fan held JR back, the fan should be banned from the arena.

This sensational "JRich punched a fan" nonsense is whiny Cubanistic PR in full force.

jack had only 1 T?
espn reports that jack was tossed with only 1 T and that's only supposed to happen with over the top incidents.  i guess clapping is worse than wrestling someone down to the floor.

well we do know nowtha
that clapping is significantly worse that throwing another player on the ground

Its Amazing
How tha playoffs can make u hate one team so much. And make u hate their fans even more. I mean last year I wanted Dallas 2 win, now I truly hate all tha mavericks especially that little punk Jason Terry. I hate tha Maverick fans with passion now. And now I dont even like Cuban. Tha whole Maverick team remind me of little girls, because they always complain when they dont get there way. Man I love tha playoffs
I love 2 tell tha truth, but I'm such a Good Liar

good
I was pretty worried this entire day that Jax would get hit with something.

That fan should man up. Trying to blame JR for pushing him/her and and taking the "I'm innocent" route? Seems like a recurring theme in the Mavs organization.

this waiting game stinks

TNT announcers
I was watching the post game after the Suns-Lakers game. The announcers/commentators on TNT said that (paraphrasing) refs have too much power. They criticized tossing out Jax after just one T for clapping, with just 8 sec left in the game. They also criticized the foul call on Baron. The refs had taken the key players out of a very important game and that did not seem to sit well with these commentators.

I agree with them. David Stern may  not, but he needs to wake up and see how some refs are manipulating the outcomes of some games.
