GAME THREAD: Rockets v. Jazz

Disclaimer: Please note that this game thread does not fall within the "prohibited" type that we avoided while making our last-minute playoff run.  The reason?  We are not rooting for anyone in particular.  It is important to scout both teams, either of whom are fine as our next adversary, IMHO.

So, on to the game:  Who has the advantage?

The home team has won every game in this series, and game 7 may be no different.  The Jazz are pointing to momentum established in Game 6, particularly the strong performance by AK-47, the fantasy owner's dream turned Nowitness-type disappearing act, who made a strong return the other night with 14 points, 5 boards, 5 blocks, 4 assists, 3 steals and only one turnover.

However, I'm thinking it's the Rockets' time, for one big reason: Tracy McGrady is ready.  Apparently the guy has never won a playoff series, and he is truly a prime-time player with a killer instinct and all the tools to win.  Analyzing the series by the standard of "Who has the player(s) who will refuse to lose?" (which is one way to look at the dubs' victory over the mavs), I'm gonna have to say that T-Mac will make the difference.

Of course, Carlos Boozer may prove me wrong.  Either way, it's gonna be a great game.  Look forward to your thoughts and analyses.  Here's some questions to consider:

  • what matchup advantages and challenges do you wee with Warriors vs. the Rockets or Jazz?
  • what coach is more intimidating, Sloan or van Gundy?
  • what would be more delicious - beating Team Mormon or defeating a second Texas powerhouse?

    Rockets
I like the Rockets better than Jazz. I like them as a team and I like the Warriors chances better against them. They have had match up difficulties against speedy teams like the Suns, so I expect the Warriors to have a similar advantage. The Jazz are bigger, stronger, and better shooters. Carlos Boozer is DPY. I think it may be tougher to beat UT in a 7-game series.

I think neither coach is intimidating. I don't see this as a factor.

From the Warriors perspective it should not matter whether they beat Houston or Utah. The end result is same: entry into WCF, where I hope they will play against the Suns.

    i agree, i think
i don't know what DPY is, but if it means "Boozer's a bad muthatrucker", then i am in agreement.  i think that if there was ever a time for foyle to risk a five-game suspension for a hard foul, it would be against the jazz!

    OOPS!
My mistake! Boozer was not the DPY. Marcus Camby (Denver) was. Still, Boozer is a great player that can create problems for many teams. I am hoping that Houston will eliminate Utah tonight. Yao & Tmac are great players but Yao will have match problems against the Warriors (and the Suns).

Can we add another vote option?
De la Hoya v Mayweather...I need a break from basketball...til Monday at least ;)

By the way, I'm glad to see that 7 out of 10 warriors fans here have their heads on straight and would rather see the Rockets than the Jazz in the next round.  I'll definitely be following that score out of the corner of my eye.

Yao = stick figure = warriors go to conference finals

i'm gonna be out with some friends so i won't be watching. gotta conserve till monday. but i expect houston to win. in this series both teams have played very well on their homecourts and very not-well away from them. plus t-mac is determined to win this game
