Holy crap. I'm too in awe of what LeBron just did to say much, but I figure at the very least it merits a frivolous diary on GSoM. Is it my imagination, or did he just score like his team's last fvcking 30 points, on the biggest possible stage, in the clutchest situation imaginable?

This ... from a 22-year-old kid.

To all those who think Superstars don't win championships, that all you need is a "balanced" lineup ... King James extends a hearty BALANCE THIS, HATERS.

Thoughts on LeBron, or on the most amazing playoff performances you've ever witnessed, are welcome in this diary.

The kid is unreal
He can do "Magic"-al things sometimes.  And sometimes he just has to get his Kobe on when his teammates won't step up.  That was an awesome performance, but it'll just be an asterisk in the history books if the Cavs don't win the series.  Still gotta get one more.

Incredible
That was amazing. Detroit should have put on his ass a few times, but still he was out of this world tonight. I shudder to think what'll happen if this guy develops a post game to along with what he's got.

Un-freakin-beleivable.

Again Lebron silences the critics....
We are witnessing one of the best players of all time in the making...... dare I say the BEST?

Huge Dissapointment.
The game is such a huge letdown for me...

...because I couldn't watch it as I was at a school function. I considered calling a friend with a DVR before I left but figured that it probably wouldn't be a big deal. I was wrong.

I guess he can get through Detroit
training in that pool.

Amazing stuff LeBron, we were all witnesses tonight.

What happened to the LeBron rules? They showed Chuck Daly earlier in the game signing an autograph and said that their were some LeBron rules. Except it was watch him play out of this world. Take that Pluto Kobe!

If he Iverson's his way into the Finals, will they have a chance at taking down the Spurs?

Eric Snow back in the Finals? Donyell Marshall and Larry Hughes former mediocre Warriors in the Finals?! More LeBron over Duncan posters?

Lebron was... UNSTOPPABLE BABY!
Seriously, that was an amazing game and Lebron had an amazing night.

He's single handedly keeping this NBA season alive.

You know I might actually watch more than the final minutes of the 4th quarter in Game 6 of this series.

What Lebron is doing at 22 is simply mind boggling
His ability to change a game and dominate at such a young age is truly special. He possesses the quickness and athleticism of a smaller guard, but he's a six foot eight gladiator and is impossible to stop. The media was hard on LeBron early in this series and now he's hitting the big shots and shutting up naysayers across the country. LeBron's maturity level is truly impressive, and I'm not sure I've ever seen an athlete respond so effectively to criticism. Scoring 25 points to end a game all on his own? His name can now be mentioned alongside Jordan's in terms of clutch playoff performances. For the record, I don't remember Jordan ever having a game like LeBron did last night. He's 22! How many rings will this guy have in 10 years let alone 15?!

As I mentioned before what amazes me the most about LeBron is how he handles everything with such poise and maturity, its almost as if he's unaffected by the massive praise and criticism that comes with being in the spotlight all the time.

It's pretty ironic that Kobe is doing all this complaining to the media about the Lakers inability to build around him while LeBron is doing it all on his own in Cleveland. If this doesn't illustrate the difference between the two guys than what does? I love Kobe's game and all, but the way LeBron is handling things is just amazing to me. It certainly says something about the difference in character between both guys.

you think a lot of people are....
jumping on the bandwagon? Lebron has been criticized so much without just cause, everyone should jump on the bandwagon,HE IS 22 and just had one of the greatest playoff performances EVER!
What do you want him to do? sprout wings and fly? Will that convince you? Give me a break man

by dallaswarrior on Jun 1, 2007 11:38 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Lebron had one of
the greatest post season game ever played.  The key word being "game".  He has more to prove then just one game to be crowned king of the NBA".  I dont want to downplay last nights game but give him some more time, like you said he is 22.  He has many more nights to prove he is the "King" but as of right now I'd consider him more of the "prince".

Either way D.Stern should go shake his hand
for bringing in more interest and viewers to the NBA after "everyone", snobby act or not, swore off watching the rest of the way.

how do you not adjust your defense
to guard the only guy on the other team who can score?!  you think he'd drop that on a Larry Brown coached Pistons team?  let's slow the roll.

Still blown away....
When Jordan and Kobe were 22, they were great individual players, but didn't really understand how to make their teammates better. LeBron gets IT.

The most freakish thing about LeBron right now is that he seems to possess the skills of a Jordan, but with the mind of a Magic Johnson. I've never seen a player in 26 years that has such a unique combination of size, strength and athleticsm. LeBron plays with the steadiness, smoothness and calm confidence of Magic, but rips your heart out at the end of the game like Michael.

I was unsure, coming into this series, if LeBron could dominate a game, like Jordan, in crunch time when everything was on the line. I'm here to say that he proved me wrong and then some. Now that he has shown the ability to dominate, I'm convinced that we are going to see something akin to watching the Chicago Bulls in the 1990's, an era where one player dominated the competition without mercy. LeBron has a decent surrounding cast, but without him they aren't anything special. Everybody considers the Spurs a lock to win it all, but if Cleveland beats Detroit, I think Cleveland will give the Spurs a run for their money. The Spurs are a very good team, but nobody, in my estimation, this year is untouchable. Dallas won 67 games and lost in the first round. The Spurs are a #3 seed and haven't had the long standing dominance this season to warrant an automatic win in the finals. Cleveland may not win it all, but I think that anybody in their right mind can admit that as long as LeBron is on the floor, that Cleveland has a chance.

I've used the hyperbole a lot here, but what I witnessed last night was something so incredible. I'm simply at a loss for words.

Uhh, Jordan anyone-'86
The scary thing is that LeBron was 15 points behind the "best" single post season game ever by your Airness himself, Michael Jordan when he put down 63 against the Celtics when he was 23 or 24 years old.  No offense to Bron Bron, but Jordan had a little more to handle too.  Anyone hear of Dennis Johnson, Robert Parish, Kevin Mchale and some dude named Larry Bird.  Bron Bron is a freak of nature and I hope to see him in the finals, but I still think MJ's performance if possible was a knotch higher.  The NBA, its Faaaaaaantastic!!!

I'm not saying that LeBron's performance
last night was neccesarily better than anything Jordan ever did. With that said, I've never seen one guy dominate an opposing team like I saw last night. Jordan may have scored 63 against a better team in the 1986 Celetics, but LeBron singlehandedly dismantled a VERY good Pistons team with serious NBA finals aspirations.

LeBron has a ways to go to get to Jordan's level, but the talent is there, and I think we can all ackowledge that LeBron has finally left his first major imprint on NBA history.

Not only did LeBron score 48, scoring the last 25 for the Cavs, but he came close to getting a triple-double. Now that's just insane.

Remember Sleepy Floyd's game vs. Lakers?
I almost forgot about this game in 1987, but this performace definitely compares to Lebron's effort last night. I was six years old so I barely remember the series, but it came during the western conference semifinals and against our biggest rival.

"The most incredible feeling I've ever had at a sporting event," wrote a San Francisco Chronicle columnist July 2003, "was watching Eric 'Sleepy' Floyd score 29 points in a quarter against the Lakers in the NBA Playoffs in the late '80s. I was a member of the media, trying to stay cool at the press table.

The most amazing thing to me
If you look at his stat sheet for the last couple of games, he really fills it out.

9boards 7dimes 2steals
7boards 11dimes 3steals
9/9/2
6/7/3
10/9/4

He's just a very complete basketball player.  And when you watch him play usually he's trying to get other people good opportunities to score.  But when he had to turn it on and carry the team on his back he did that too.

I don't think it's that people are jumping on the bandwagon, it's that people haven't had the opportunity to see him play as much because he's in the Leastern Conference.

LeBron in the Finals
All I wanna see is LeBron James make the NBA Finals. I know that the Spurs are the team to beat ever since these playoffs started, but hopefully LeBron and the Cavaliers will pull it through with a victory tomorrow night. What LeBron did the other night was mind-boggling. He single-handedly served the Detroit Pistons in the Palace. What wasn't surprising was that these aren't the same Pistons that won the title in 2004 and made the Finals in 2005. That's obvious because of the Ben Wallace factor. If Big Ben was there, then LeBron would not have had such a fabulous night. LeBron took advantage of the Pistons' lackadaisical defense and made sure his team came out the victor last night. Tomorrow night's game will definitely be different in Cleveland. Detroit will do its very best in trying to make LeBron a distributor. LeBron's teammates will have to step up tomorrow night. Key to tomorrow's game: Piss off Rasheed Wallace. Make sure his emotions affect his play and ultimately it will lead to Detroit's masterpiece meltdown. Detroit is now realizing how valuable LeBron is to the Cavaliers. Another reason why Detroit is losing its composure is because their leader Chauncey Billups hasn't shown up. Once he does show up, the Pistons will win emphatically. I'd say the Cavaliers will win by 5. LeBron goes for a triple-double: 25 pts. 12 rebs. 10 assts.

- he makes the other players on his team better -
who?!  name one.  does Larry Hughes look better to you?  Donyell Marshall?  Drew Gooden?  Eric Snow?  has Ilgauskas gotten any better lately?  i love the cliche compliments/endorsements.  the guy was ALLOWED to score 25+ straight pts to close a game - embarrassing.  you think Larry Legend would have granted him 6 or 7 4th quarter lay-ups without hitting him with a hard foul.  this wasn't MJ pulling up from every conceivable angle on the court, or elevating between 3-4 guys for acrobatic aerials.  this was some straight bull-fighting.  you could put Ben Wallace back on that Pistons team and it wouldn't have gone down like that.  he made the shots, granted, he's a pro, but c'mon.  let's pry ourselves away from the stat line and do a little analysis.  just because Sportscenter beat you over the head with this doesn't mean you have to eat it all up hook line and sinker.

SLAM links again

But granted he hasn't had to score 40+ every game to get wins in the playoffs.

Also: "LeBronnenites" and "LEBRONIMINANCE" (from another article which I can't find right now).

Classics.
