Rumor: Warriors Willing to Move Monta Ellis for Bobcats' #8 Pick if Yi's Available

ESPN.com's Chad Ford just wrapped up a pre-draft chat that raked in over 11,000 questions. That's more questions than we have about GDubya's decisions during his tenure as President of the U S of A! Anyhow, this should be of interest to Warriors fans and the hundreds of proponents of The Yi Movement:

Todd, Charlotte: Any Bobcats rumblings?

Chad Ford: I think they'll trade the pick. Heard that Golden State would be willing to move Monta Ellis to here if Yi was still on the board. That would be a good deal for Charlotte. Philly would like to get in. So would the Lakers. Sounds like they'll sell to the highest bidder. If they keep the pick: Brandan Wright.

When the Bobcats are on the clock expect something interesting. Higgy- don't forget your folks!

Also from Ford's chat:

John (Bay Area): How likely is a Yi Jianlian trade to the Warriors? He would be a perfect fit, but I just don't see it happening.

Chad Ford: They are trying. He would be a perfect fit. David Stern needs to intervene. If he doesn't, Colorado State's Jason Smith, is a very similar player to Yi.

Come on Commissioner Stern! Show your folks in the Bay some love.

Definitely check out Ford's entire chat. It's better than the 2007 NBA Finals! (not that means much)

Are the Bobcats making the right decision if they move their pick as rumored?

99% of rumors never happen, but 99% of them are fun to talk about!

Is Jameson Curry In This Year's Draft?
he would be a great pick with our second second round pick.

ok
If it meant keeping Jason, I would have to say yes to a trade shipping Monta and bringing in Yi. It would buy us another year or two(not sure) which would enable us to dodge that Foyle crisis. It would be perfect timing, as far as making our prospects. Even though I would probably still be half stepping since I have no clue what Yi can really do. If that goes down, look to snag the best player available at 18. I dont know, what would you guys do?
This is my team There are many like it But this one is mine. My team, without me is useless. Without my team, I am useless

yes
i am ok with trading monta for yi because monta will want a ton of money and at this point it would be better for the warriors to pay biedrins instead of ellis. plus ellis being gone and baron potentially being gone opens it up for gilbert arenas!

I am tired of this
Fuck Yi. I don't want him anymore. Dunleavy-type bust. I'm calling it first.

I dont want him anymore either...
trade for a proven player if you trade I dont want him and I dont want to hear his name on this site anymore and if we draft him his name is all I will hear the rest of my life

Why not Jermaine?
With all the talk focusingon Yi and KG, perhaps we ought to consider that the Pacers -- our friends from the trade -- are shopping Jermaine O'Neal who's almost a KG and a lot younger (at least in terms of wear and tear).  Maybe we could package our first, along with Monta or JRich with -- ta-da -- Foyle (down to two years and a much better fit with the Pacers).  Who knows?  It might work.  O'Neal is just the presence we need down low -- he's a scorer AND a rebounder.  He'd have to get into Nellie shape, but he could do that.  Maybe the Pacers will be gunshy with us in the wake of the trade -- but it's a thought, and if we could keep BD and AB (and we know they don't want Jack or Al), this could be an amazing deal for us.

Ellis Deal
If we can deal Ellis straight up for the 8 pick and get Yi Jianlian then I say we do it.  Then spend the 18 pick on Gabe Pruitt out of USC or Petteri Koponen of Finland.
