Will Jason still be a Warrior after the draft?

Is Monta being shopped for a higher pick?

We're just about to get this whole NBA draft thing underway. Finally, the Warriors are not in the lottery, but apparently from all the rumors they're trying to fight their way back in. This time it's by trade and it seems like it's going to take either Monta Ellis or Jason Richardson to make the move up. I doubt Mullin and Nelson stay put at #18, so they will try to move up. Tune into ESPN at 4pm to catch the draft. But before we get there, at GSoM we're bringing you the latest mock drafts from around the web. So without further ado, here we go with a highlight reel of the top players in the draft as well as part III.

Hoopsworld.com: #18 Jason Smith

Preetom Bhattacharya: Jason is a perfect fit for Nellie's open system. As a quick, athletic big man, he'll be able to contribute reserve minutes in the post, where the Warriors desperately need help.

NBA Draft.net: #18 Thaddeus Young , #36 Petteri Koponen , #46 Quinton Hosley

Koponen? Hosley? Who are these guys?

Petteri Koponen
Strengths: Has crept from under the radar to become one of the most hyped players in Nordic countries ever ... Great court vision, able to find the open guy no matter how narrow the passing agle is ... "Houdini" in the open court ... A classic "pass first, pass second, shoot third" point guard when is fully adapted to team's system

Weaknesses: Although he takes good care of his body and has improved significantly during last two years, lacks the NBA athleticism ... Struggles in 1-on-1-defense against quicker, more physical point guards ... Still shows inexperience against top competition: Gets a fair share of bad pass turnovers against defensive-minded teams

Quinton Hosley
Strengths: Possesses big time physical tools to develop into a elite defender due to his lateral quickness, long arms, anticipation skills and mental toughness ... Hosley is an impressive athlete capable of some impressive plays ... Has three point range shooting capability ... His huge wingspan allows him to play much bigger than his 6-6 height

Weaknesses: His perimeter defense will need to be improved upon ... Not the best shooter off the dribble as Hosley is more comfortable when his feet are set. Creating offense off the dribble has shown some improvement this past season but remains inconsistent

Draft Express: #18 Jason Smith, #36 Dominic McGuire, #46 Marc Gasol

Jason Smith: Standing just a hair under 7-feet with an excellent frame, albeit with short arms, Smith has the tools to play either big man position, particularly once he adds more strength. He's also a very fluid athlete on top of that, being capable of running the floor almost as well as any big in this draft. Quick, coordinated and extremely agile, he has a nice first step and looks pretty explosive getting off his feet. In short, Smith's physical characteristics are never going to be an issue for him.

RealGM.com: #18 Jason Smith

Smith's athleticism and agility is very impressive and it has lent nicely to his workouts. Scouts have told me that he is also a better shooter than people give him credit for. With the way he runs the floor, he would be tailor-made to join Nellie and the Warriors.

HoopsHype.com: #18 Tiago Splitter

Already one of the best defenders in Europe. Smart and experienced player with an NBA frame. Contributes to a stacked team that made the Spanish ACB finals and Euroleague Final Four last season, and will compete for both titles again this season. Offensive ability and willingness to score need to improve, including ability to play above the rim. Buyout issues finally appear to be resolved after pulling out of the draft three times in a row. Had a rough stretch where he was hampered with back problems, but has recovered nicely ever since.

ESPN (Chad Ford): #18 Gabe Pruitt,

The skinny: The Warriors worked out Yi Jianlian last week and will try to move up in the draft to get him. They can try to target the draft picks of the Grizzlies at No. 4, the Celtics at No. 5, the Bobcats at No. 8 or the Bulls at No. 9.

If they can't get Yi, then look for them to start thinking about a backup for Baron Davis. Pruitt's athleticism and shooting touch would endear him to Don Nelson.

#36 Reyshawn Terry

Terry has the prototypical body and game of an NBA small forward. He got lost in the shuffle at UNC, but the Warriors are already planning ahead should Matt Barnes leave via free agency.

#46 Jermareo Davidson

Nellie likes big men who think they're guards, so our guess is he'll love Davidson.

About.com (Dennis Velasco): #18 Josh McRoberts

Team Needs: The Warriors obviously like to snap the twine of basketball nets to a large degree, especially from three-point range, but at some point, the bombs won't be falling in. There are perimeter players galore here, so adding a post player like McRoberts who has a lot of offensive skill - able to run the floor, face the basket, or score in the post - makes McRoberts a great addition here as he can hang with all the runners on the team and add a new dimension down in the box for the Warriors.

*Tiago Splitter had been mentioned here, but McRoberts makes too much sense here.

MyNBADraft.com: #18 Jason Smith

A skilled big man who can score both inside and out, good athleticism and very coordinated for someone his size. Gets off the floor quickly for blocking shots and rebounding also shows good touch around the basket. Good perimeter shooter who has shown some surprising range on his 3-point shot. Good hands and quick feet which is showing in his improved inside game. Needs to add 15-20 pounds which will make him a more formidable defender and to handle the rigors of playing in the paint in the next level.

Now we're ready for the 2007 NBA Draft. Anything can happen tonight and with Don Nelson around, you never know what will go down. Maybe Kevin Durant will be a Warrior? Okay maybe not, but it could be Yi Jianlian or Al Horford. It's a great time to be a Warrior fan and we're excited about the draft even now that we don't have a lottery pick.

What are the Warriors going to do? Trade up, down, or just stay put?
