With the 46th pick in the 2k7 Draft, the Golden State Warriors take...

STEPHANE LASME!

Courtesy UMass Hoops.com

From ESPN Player Profile:

Positives: Long, athletic jumping jack. Dominant defender. One of the best shot- blockers in college basketball. Excellent rebounder. Aggressive. Strong. Excellent quickness for a big man.

Negatives: Undersized. Has more of a center's game in a small forward's body. Raw offensively. He's good dunking the basketball around the basket, but doesn't have much in the way of post moves or a perimeter game. He doesn't have a great basketball IQ -- mainly because he hasn't been playing basketball for very long. One of the oldest prospects out there.

Summary: NBA scouts love athletic shot-blockers, but there are a lot of question marks about Lasme.

This is a funny pick
My roommate lives near UMass and is a huge Lasme fan, and Lasme lands with us, and I live near Cal and am a huge Leon Powe fan, and Powe landed with the Celtics (his favorite team), and they are pretty much the same kind of player.

What on earth are you saying
No, it's not really funny if that's what you mean. But coincidental from my standpoint, which is all I'm pointing out. Take your half-literate ramblings and Jason Richardson-induced hostility elsewhere.

Half-literate? Hardly.
I'm not angry at you, but I don't see what bearing if any, your comment has here. That's all.

Lol

Well at least you sound coherent
this time. That's a start.

Anyway, it's an anecdote. People share them. Of course it has no bearing on anything.

Ike Diogu v 2.0?
Is it just me or is this guy a horrible pick or what?  Why didn't we take dominic mcguire?

by Mdawg851 on Jun 28, 2007 8:45 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

This guy
is going to bring a lot to our team.  He has had multiple 10 rebound 10 block games before.  We are really going to like this guy off the bench.  High energy, what the Oracle loves.

by yehyeh82 on Jun 28, 2007 8:47 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

YES! WHERE IS MCGUIRE?
Lasme is an athletic rebounding shotblocker without size or any other skills AND he's already 24 without much basketball experience.

McGurie is an inch taller, has the same boarding and shotblocking skills, a year younger (at least) AND brings a handle and passing ability.

So...they took Dominic Mcguire one year later, minus all the offensive versatility.

Freakin' retarded.

AND we dealt away Davidson in the Wright deal? Shoot.

by OptionZero on Jun 28, 2007 8:48 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

So...
How do you explain the pick then?

Is the Warriors FO actually mentally retarded? Or did they see something in Lasme that they didn't see in McGuire?

Much as I trust your opinions, OZ (and I mean that sincerely), I'm going with the latter.

I think this kid
can be to us what Chris Porter was to us back in 2000, and what Mickael Pietrus is to us now. Another energy player who comes of the bench and plays rough D, and goes after the boards hard. I REALLY like this pick in the 2nd round.
