Belinelli Scouting Clips

Our main man Rich Twu of the Dream League fame is holding it down in Vegas as our lead NBA Summer League correspondent. You saw his in depth analysis of Warrior rookie Marco Bellnelli just a few short days ago here on GSoM, but brace yourself as Rich drops science with some multimedia!

****************************************

WARRIORS' NEXT SUMMER LEAGUE GAME IS IN 2.5 HOURS! You gotta tune in just to see Marco Belinelli play. Supposedly you can watch it for free on NBA.com, but we'll see. Unfortunately, the game is not being broadcast on NBA TV.

I've finally had some time to update the clips I posted on YouTube. First off, I am highly disappointed that I couldn't find the clip of  Belinelli poking the ball out of someone hands and getting the trey on the ensuing fastbreak. I must have accidentally deleted it (hope you are appreciative of the fact that I clip almost every possession and lots of times, nothing happens, so I end up deleting it on the spot).

Over the past couple days since my In Vegas: Belinelli, Belinelli, Belinelli!!! post, I've been kind of asking myself, "Did I hype him up too much? Did I really see what I saw? Maybe I was making some things up."

Then, I spent the last 2 hours updating all the video clips I took of him and the Warriors' summer league team and everything came back. I now have proof.

And I also have an attempted tomahawk jam by Belinelli, which is why I assert: let the "Marco Polo" chants at Oracle begin!...

Here are the videos that stand out the most and backup my scouting report...

  • Quick release for three
  • Yes, Belinelli can drive past defenders
  • Warrior fast breaks will be worth 3 points in 2008
  • A bad turnover by Belinelli
  • Screen-and-roll Belinelli to Powell
  • Pick-and-roll: good staple for Belinelli in 2007-08
  • Belinelli catch-and-shoot
  • Belinelli can get to the hole
  • Left-handed behind-the-back to get past defender
  • And for those of you who were curious about Pierre Pierce, here you go:
  • Pierre Pierce stick-to-itiveness
  • Btw, let me know if any of the links are messed up. Haven't had time to double-check. The rest of my clips of the Warriors-Spurs game as well as the other games I caught, are under the account name dreamleague at YouTube.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

    Thanks
man. You can watch the games on NBA.com, we've had game threads for the first three so far. We have some dedicated fans, how many other fans would wet their pants in excitement over summer league ball besides us?

    wetting our pants
Haha, yeah, I was randomly looking at HoopsAddict.com and they bulleted the Belinelli post and said GSOM had a "man-crush" on him.

    Well...YOU DAMN RIGHT!!!

Actually, after watching the action in Vegas, I have man-crushes on Jose Juan Barea of the Mavs and Dominic McGuire of the Wizards too.

Belinelli on NBA TV after all
I just cruised on over to NBA.com to see when the next Mavs game is gonna be on NBA TV (told ya I had a man-crush on Barea too) and it looks like...

THE WARRIORS ARE ON NBA TV TONIGHT!!!

Oh yeah, and they're playing Kevin Durant and the Sonics. And guess who's on the frontpage of the Summer League page -- it ain't KD.

Betcha someone at NBA TV got the little tap on the shoulder, as this one was not originally on the TV schedule.

I'm over to my buddy's house in a flash. This is a can't-miss!!!

    can someone
post the link online when the game starts?

by llamalimbo1 on Jul 13, 2007 6:33 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

game starts at 7:30pm -- maybe NOT on NBA TV
Thanks for your comment asking for the link, because it forced me to peruse the NBA Summer League site, which is horribly setup and basically un-navigable...

    http://www.nba.com/summerleague2007/index.html

Even though there's a frontpage photo of Belinelli and they are talking about Kevin Durant underneath, I have a feeling this game is actually NOT on NBA TV, per the original schedule. You would think that if you are going to put a frontpage photo of someone and then talk about NBA TV right below it, that someone will be on NBA TV.

Oh well, it's back to the webcast, I guess.

    Tomorrow's
game will be webcast and on NBA TV. Not today's though.

Thanks for the clips. The behind-the-back move was pretty sweet.

    This is getting real exciting...
Belinelli is tearin' it up on the court! I almost forgot we had The  "Wright" stuff! I've never ever been this excited about Summer League till now! I hope that doesn't make me a band wagon jumper... with all the hype hear on GSOM, it's hard to ignore!

Show Me The Money! (He's worth it!)

New "Re-sign Barnes" tribute webpin LOL!

fyi... yea man, Barnes deserves a lil' cheddar... he's gotta tatoo fettish to support LOL!

    Thanks for the props.
I especially like your cartoon webpins. There should have been "The best fans" award at the ESPY's, and Warrior fans would have won it.

    Thans right back
I'm a illustrator for a computer company and all my work is Vector... what better way 2 light up GSW Illustrations than with the power of Adobe Illustrator lol! When the season starts, if it's cool I wanna rock a big a$$ Belinelli sign to welcome him to Oakland... lets just say it'll have a "Rambo-ish" look... Warriors Jersey, a big a$$ headband and a Bazooka! I'll give u cred no doubt and say "Some dude on GSOM inspired me... " shoot I'll take a stab at drawing it up by end of next week! I got 3 months or so 2 whip up some new illustrations for the game! Peace!

    Sounds great
Go all out and get on sportscenter! The Oracle should play some Rocky and Rambo soundtrack clips, opposed to the usually stuff like the Adams family clip. We fans should start sporting Rocky/Rambo wigs and hairbands at games.

    Marco not
playing in todays game.... that sucks, he better not get robbed for his summer league MVP award. even though it might be meaningless it still could be a confidence booster
