KG: post-draft preference still MIN?
Sorry if this has been covered in a different diary but I was just bumbling around online and came upon this article. The first part talks about KG and his preference to stay w/the Wolves:
"I talked to K.G. about it; I said, 'You're going to hear a lot of (rumors) stuff, but I'll call you if something really happens.' I just asked him (about a trade), and he'd say, 'No, I haven't changed my mind.'"I said, 'We're probably going to bring in (top draft pick Corey) Brewer with one more young guy, so you've got young guys, and you're going to have a younger team.' And he said, 'I don't think I mind playing with those guys.'
"In the end, nothing really happened."
The Wolves will continue to discuss trade scenarios, Taylor said, but they won't include Garnett.
anyway, it's not very long and you can check it out at
http://www.twincities.com/walters
it's the article titled, "Taylor: Garnett wants to stay with Timberwolves" (I tried a direct link but a twincities registration page comes up)
is Walters a legit source? it says "last updated on 7/17/07" so is this just an old article that was recently added to or something? and does this mean we're keeping Wright?

Hopefully this is a reliable source
If KG or Baron have injury problems next season, one of them may easily opt out or even if they sign on, we will only have KG until 2010 at latest. I hope he stays where he is or goes to Chicago or somewhere else in the east for our sake.

twisted
a couple excerpts stood out for me:
that's just flat out funny! I imagine it was something like that scene from "Aliens" when most the Space Marines get wiped out and the few survivors are trying to regroup then Hudson loses it, "What the F** are we gonna do now,HUH!? We're F##'d we're SCREWED!! GAME OVER MAN, GAME OVER!!!"
Always good to step away from it all and just play whatever hand we've got come opening night

It's a good story
But what seems most likely true is that the deal came close to going down - and the Richardson/Wright/trade doesn't happen unless the KG deal was a possability. Which leads me to believe that the Warriors will continue to pursue the deal, whether it ever comes off or not.
I also believe that KG will get dealt to somebody, no matter what the owner or Garnett's teammates say. As many bad decisions as the Wolves have made in recent years, the downside of not dealing him this season (preferably beforehand) is too much even for these fools to ignore.
And there are other KG deals out there as well. Check out this possible scenario:
Wouldn't that be horrible if the Lakers ended up with Garnett? But it could happen, as there are a lot of possibilities out there. It may mean that the Warriors will have to sweeten their offer.

I wouldn't say the KG bubble is popped
who knows... maybe Taylor's been taking "smoke screen" lessons from Mullin and Nellie?

Wow
I'm still hoping the KG movement is at least on life support. There has to be a reason why the Warriors allegedly never scouted Wright.

To clarify -
I believe the Warriors thought they had a better chance at making this happen than they actually did. I hear that the Wolves strung them along "like cruel a hot girl dating a nerd" - exact words from a high-up source. This guy knows things because some say he's the most active decision-maker in the league. I beat him in a round of golf on Sunday. He sucks at golf.
In my estimation, there was no miscommunication between the parties involved, just overzealousness on what it would take on the part of the Warriors. My guess is that they wanted the BPA in hopes of making something work and are now suffering the pratfall of realizing it wasn't enough.
Also, I'll learn more about this KG stuff as it comes along, but I'm not going to chase it like Kawakami is. Sorry, guys, but honestly, KG is a mirage I'm not willing to hunt down anymore. I did it for two years here in LA (to the Lakers) and there's too much misinformation out there to really learn the truth. It is like trying to learn about Rick James - Charlie Murphy is out there with some great stories, but how many are true?

I haven't heard that
Makes little sense for the Celtics to take Harrington back when they're so ecstatic with Al Jefferson's development. It makes sense that they could want J-Rich and Monta, but they'd have a GLUT of guards to deal with.
At the end of the day, they'd be really poorly constructed. So I guess it makes sense that Ainge would consider it?

is there any chance that
I doubt a sign and trade with Pietrus for Haslem would be enough. But maybe if the Heat believe Wayne Simien is ready to contribute and the looming luzary tax is enough for them to shed payroll. The Dubz add a 2nd round pick and voila! maybe we have something cooking or...maybe not.
As for Gerald Green i'm betting that Ainge would atleast like to keep him around. But with Pierce, Allen, and well the other Allen in front of him at the wing spots, where does Gerald find PT? I know you didn't think there was much to the Sarunas to Boston deal, but is it conceivable that the Celts buy on a package of Sarunas and POB for Telfair and Green? I don't know if Telfair has pathced things up with the organization (although he looked pretty happy in SL besides Ainge). Sorry for the randomness of my thoughts. thanks.

More water on the KG campfire?
some notable excerpts:
Taylor, who returned over the weekend, talked about a range of subjects Tuesday, including the team's decision to field offers for Garnett before the June 28 NBA draft. He admitted Boston was the Wolves' most serious trading partner. And while not ruling out a Garnett trade, Taylor said the team is now focused on altering its roster in other ways.
"Do I think it's going to happen? No," Taylor said. "Do we feel we have to do one? No. Are we willing to live with what we have, with Kevin and making some minor changes? Yes. But if a team came along, if we saw the right thing and it made sense? Maybe. But I don't see it."
Sounds like the KG fire is down to embers; interesting also about Celtics being the most "serious trading partner"

who knows, summer's not over, the fat lady hasn't sung (yet)
I'm still skeptical Nelson even comes back if our roster isn't revised further by training camp to at least give him a chance of matching much less bettering a second round playoff run ...
