WHAT IF... Kevin Garnett joined Golden State?

"What if... Golden State of Mind actually published a comic book?"

What's up everybody? I grew up reading a lot of comic books (which I guess is the reason why I draw a lot.) One of my favorite comic books as a kid was called What If... The series began with the Watcher recapping a notable event in the Marvel Universe and then demonstrating what would happen if events had taken a different course and with a different point of view. I grew up to great stories like "What if Spider-Man joined the Fantastic Four?" or "What if The Punisher's Family never died?" These "What if" scenario's never ruined the continuity of the books I read, it just gave it a twist in how I perceived my favorite characters.

This is a new segment I want to try once in a while here at GSoM. It's just a concept for now, but what was featured in Marvel Comic Books can be viewed the same way with the Golden State Warriors! Backed up with a spoofed "What if..." cover!

"WHAT IF... Kevin Garnett joined Golden State?" is an open discussion that simply ask's "what if... it happened?" For several month's now, there hasn't been one bigger discussion than the possibility of KG coming to the Bay. No matter how old the story gets, It's a popular discussion at GSoM that just won't die. I've never contributed an article on KG joining, just comments, but if anything I want to tackle the subject... with visuals!

What if KG did join the Dubz?" How would he fit in? Who would leave? Who would stay? How would the fan's react? What would Mullin do? All of these subjects have been mentioned on the main blog or in someone's diary, but honestly in your opinion, "What do you think would happen?" There's no wrong answer and no need for negative comments- everything's set up in the "What if..." scenario! It's just a new way in seeing different views! Also, it's probably the only time I'll get to Draw KG in a Dubz Jersey! If this "What if..." series goes well, you'll see more of it from me. Who knows... you may see a "What if Don Nelson Lost Weight?" or "What if... J-Rich never left the Dubz?" or maybe even a "What if... Boom Dizzle Married Jessica Alba!?" Share your theories!

I hate to be a downer, but...

I feel like the images really make navigating the front page a pain. I like the images, but I want to see them once, not every time I come to the page. Can they be placed after the jump?

Me and Atma are gonna talk about size constraints to keep the front page consistent... I am still testing the waters. When I started this piece 6 in the morning today, I ended my lunch with a 100MB KG file on my desktop!

It's art and wonderful art at that. Every time you look at it you see new things. Great stuff like this shouldn't be hidden, it should be displayed prominently.

We're lucky to have Tony as part of the crew. He was my big summer recruit!

My "What If's..."

If this went down, (Hence, What If...) I think we'd be losing the likes of Ellis, Wright and Biedrins on our squad. I'm no sports analysis guy, those are the names that pop outta' my head. I think these would be the guys packing, sad to say- and it's a deal Minnesota wants to start fresh with. KG would love the style of play and be happy to play alongside Baron... and vice versa. It's another threat to add in our starting line up, and though we lost much of our bench including Barnes (since we can't afford him) with KG's budget, guys like Marco and Azabuki would get some good playtime and crazy numbers. Oh and Foyle would retire and do something political. (lol)

Fanbase wise... we would complain like crazy on GSOM until we win our first 15-20 games with a 18-6 record during the first 2-3 months and than we'd realize what we got... 2 Superstars! It's hard to boo KG at the Oracle for what we lost, It's not like we got Smush Parker... also, we'd fall in line buying his Jerseys, more bandwagon jumpers would follow, I would make more KG signs like "KG is my Homeboy" or "KG Get Hyphy!"... We would have 14-17 more wins than last season and than get eliminated in the 3rd round of the playoff's... by the Spurs. (lol)

Even if this didn't happen... oh well, we can all dream in front of our computers at work! This was just a thought!

If KG came over

I would welcome the move with open arms. It's more than likely we will give up our talented core of young players, but just acquiring a superstar in KG will definitely make us better. We will get into "win now" mode. The only negative on this would be for how long we will have both KG and B-Diddy on our roster? KG will definitely love to play Nellieball and he'll get himself a proven PG in B-Diddy. Minnesota will get themselves a lot of young talent in Monta, Wright, and maybe Andris. I know a possible move to get KG will screw us from Andris' development, but it's just too good to pass up. A lot of you guys are probably right if KG came over and hella bandwagon fans will be buying KG's No. 21 jersey.

Yea Man, after I finished the Artwork and sent out the story 2 Atma, I saw posts going about w/ KG talkin' with Boston, I worried big time about posting this one w/ the Boston news being so hot, we agreed and said ahh, let's run the "What If..." tidbit and see how it rolls... so far so good, it was a fun side project to flip on a Sunday. If he went 2 Boston... wouldn't do me any good, It's just seeing KG in a green Jersey... yay...

What If...

I used to Love the What if... comics. They would always put a fun twist on characters you thought you knew.

Well if I was to play the what if game w/ KG it would go something like this:

When I heard the news I would of course be excited but soon after that I would be a little sad about losing Monta, Beans and Wright. We would start the season strong and the first time I saw KG swat a shot away and scream at the top of his lungs at the Oracle I would forget all about the guys we lost. Of course midseason when Baron goes down to injury we would all doubt if we made the right choice, watching the Dubs go 3-10 without him. Then in true comicbook fashion we would make a late surge to make the playoffs, push our way to the Western Con. Finals were we would have a back and forth war with the spurs winning in game seven and going on to crush whatever team the east put out there. You know I never read a comic book that didn't you a BIG story with a BIG ending, so of course we would win it all.
