Wright Sitting out Summer League
Janny Hu of SF Gate is live in Las Vegas covering the NBA Summer League. She's got our first bit of disappointing info regarding one of the newest Warriors.
Wright says the injury dates back to April, and that after grinding through his pre-draft workouts, the best move was to let himself heal. This isn't going to quell any trade rumors, of course, but Wright also told me he signed his rookie contract last night, so whatever happens, he's at least a Warrior for the next 30 days.
I didn't hear about this injury before, so apparently it should be a minor thing. It would have been great to see how he did in the Summer League against the rookies and random scrubs, but I guess we won't have that chance. Even though he says he might play, I doubt he will. He needs to get to 100% before training camp begins so he can start his rookie season off right.
Let's just hope this is a minor injury that doesn't affect him later on in his career and that he isn't injury prone. The last thing we need on this team is another guy who misses 20-30 games a year.
This means one important thing...more time for Notorious POB! Okay maybe not, but I hope we get something out of him this year. At least let him sit on the end of the bench and pick up solid veteran tips from Adonal Foyle, things like how to throw a towel to a player coming off the court, when to cheer, and most importantly, how to pass out Gatorade cups so nothing spills.
Also check out Summatime in the Warriors Land- But We Don't Got Them DOS! for more on the Warriors Summer League roster.

BELINELLI...39 points...5-6 3pt. shooting...
On offense, I saw him execute a move I thought was very impressive for a player of his age. He caught the ball with his back to the basket at the top of the 3 pt line. The defender crowded him, so he pivoted and turned with the ball real low, threatening to drive. He bumped the defender with his shoulder to gain some space, and then used the space to jab step left, took one hard dribble right, and pulled up for a fadeaway 19 footer. Nothing but net.
He understands the game. He understands the simple things that make the difference between winning and losing.
On offense, he came off a screen and called for the ball. Instead they passed down low, and a Warrior began to post up, when Belinelli saw that his teammate had his man close to the basket and was most likely going to attempt a shot, He immediately began to back pedal towards the half court line, to get back on defense. Sure enough, the shot was attempted, but missed. The Hornets started a fastbreak going the other way. Belinelli was the only man on defense.
You can watch the summer league games using NBA broadband. Check him out and say what you think of him. Azuibuke looked very good as well. Another player that caught my eye was Pierre Pierce. Look.

Not much incentive
If Philly is high enough on Carney to try to move Iggy, they've got some significant problems.
(And for what it's worth, Joe Smith is of course no longer under contract, so that sort of trade involves yet another "we could get him to sign-a-trade" that seems to view it as something easy to pull off, as if every player out there is just itching to accommodate for sake of making a trade work.)
