the announcers interviewed
nellie and he said Belinelli is ready to play now but isn't sure how much play time Wright will get this season.

UCLA Movement
I have to think Matt Barnes was a Baron Davis request to bring into summer league last year.  Obviously, Barnes proved his worth and made the squad and more.  Is it possible Toby Bailey makes the squad as Baron's backup? He had a nice flurry at the end of game 1.

fun game
Looking at the box score:
Marco had half of our made threes. He went 5-8, Warriors 10-18 overall.
Josh Powell got better today, grabbed 14 boards, 6 of them offensive.
POB regressed. Only 3 rebounds.

by Caught Backcourt on Jul 9, 2007 6:58 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

didn't think it was possible
for POS to regress....but i guess i was proven wrong.

not a bad night for bellinelli, definately still the dominant player for the dub's summer league. it was interesting to see how he reacted to a little bit more of pressure though... he still managed a great amount.

i'd say he's ready for the big leagues definately, but a starter? hmmm..... need to see more than just two games...

by Atma Brother ONE on Jul 9, 2007 7:15 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Atma..?
Now you're piling on...?

The GSoM critical consensus on POB:

C'mon, men, if we want to get anything for the guy, we gotta build up his value. The announcer tonight called POB the kind of versatile big man Nellie loves. POB = MVP!!!

by Sleepy Freud on Jul 9, 2007 7:28 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

HaHa he also said,
O'Bryant will be a center piece of this franchise for a long time.. WHICH I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH! O'Bryant for MVP cast your ballots now!

No heart at all. Geez... its really a shame because he has all the tools. I went down to the Arena last year for that little practice session/open house thing they have every year. O'Bryant looked so mobile, and his touch was so soft from 16... I was enthused.

But watching him now, Im starting to doubt that he will ever be an impact player. He just lacks the desire. He looks like he just played ball because he was tall and someone told him to do it, instead of truly having a love for the game. Much like Kwame Brown.

I forget who it was, but some commentator made a very good observation about big men. He said something like this, "Big men that come from rough backgrounds are more likely to succeed in the NBA because of their toughness. They are more likely to go hard and bang down low, they take the physical challenge personally, and become more competitive and nastier, than say a soft big man." I think that guy was right, whoever he is.

There's very few sites to show in Oakland as compared to SF.  Anyways, I think of this as the Bay Area's team, not Oakland's team.  I wouldn't mind if they showed the wine region a little bit too.

only 2 quarters
From what I saw, Belinelli only really played offense in the 1st and 3rd quarters.  In the 2nd and 4th, it seemed either he would give it up or no one would pass to him.   For some of these players it's their chance to prove what they have, but a lot of them don't have much; POS.   I'm liking Powell on D too.  Wonder what their plans for him are....

by danielholl on Jul 9, 2007 8:45 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I think it was just cuz of summer league.
Although, I did see him make a very nice play on D against Carney in a one-on-one situation. Carney tried to cross him and Belinelli moved his feet very well but was called for a block. It looked like a bail out to me though. I thought he beat Carney to the spot.

Realize though that it is summer league. No need to break your back just yet, if you already have a garaunteed spot to play against some real competition.

Yes, but more so
from Azubuike. LOL It seems like Azubuike just CRINGES when he has to pass the ball to Marco. He knows Marco is going to take all his minutes away. He never passes the ball unless he has to, hes not that deliberate when he does it.

Belinelli shoots the ball as much as he can too. I like that though, he makes the pass when he really see's theres an oppertunity for his teamates to get an easy one.

I really like Azubuike though. Hes tough, and he rebounds on the other end for us. Nice to see a gaurd that does that.

BELINELLI on 2K7
Before the game today, I made Belinelli on NBA 2K7. I haven't made many Create-a-Players in the past few years, but there's a ready-made list of names that the computer will announce during actual gameplay. Marco (a somewhat common name) isn't on the list. And needless to say, Belinelli isn't either. . .

BUT I just started a game (vs JRich's Bobcats, of course) and the announcer actually says BELINELLLI!
Things that make you go hmmmm. . .

I played 3 games and JRich got his points from all over the floor in every game. He was the Player of the Game for one of them with 28 points in 5 min quarters of play. I'm sure it's a sign of things to come.

He does!
My nephew created him on 2K7 and I played him a game. The announcer says Belinelli, and for some reason, all his shots seem to go in. Not that I condone comparing video games to the real thing...its kinda lame. I love video games though.
This is my team There are many like it But this one is mine. My team, without me is useless. Without my team, I am useless

Im talking about....
when he scores, the PA will say MAAAAARCOOOO BEL-EEE-NEL-EEEEEEEE! Its pretty amazing. I just think they knew the kid would make it soon, so they just got the guy to say it in the recordings anyway. Pretty cool stuff.

Yeah
He said that for me too. Yet, when I named some guy Abdul-Jabbar, the PA announcer never said it....

I don't think I made Bellinelli good enough. All of his shots missed.

Tony aka Drawlz600 is AWESOME!!!!

belinelli
is always open, will drain every shot.  kellena and Pierce should figure it out.  I was at the game and you could see Marco getting frustrated because he wasn't getting the ball enough.  I guess Kelenna wants some love too.

Can
somebody post a direct link for todays game? the nba.com scoreboard seems to be down because it hasn't updated the scores since there were 17 seconds left in the kings vs. wizards game.
