Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Brandan Write

Our top draft pick has picked up a writing gig on AOL Sports. He's got his own blog now called, "The Wright Stuff". It's fun to read up on what he's been up to in the past couple months. He seems optimistic about the coming year and it looks like he's going to display some more athleticism that we didn't get to see as much at UNC.

Excited to Ball By the Bay

When the Warriors made the trade to acquire me, it said a lot, because they gave up a lot in Jason Richardson just to get me. It shows that they really wanted me, and I think I'll fit in well. They run a wide-open, up-tempo offense, so I don't think I'll be tied to one position. And I think I'll be able to do a lot of different things for the team. For instance, I think I'll be able to step outside a lot more than I did last year at North Carolina. It's exciting.

I'm excited to move out to Oakland and get settled in a new part of the country, but I'm not really familiar with the Bay Area at all. I was there for a few days after being introduced by the team, but that's about it. When I move out there, I think someone from my family or a friend will live with me, but that's not definite.
We call Oakland home, but I wonder what it's going to be like for a 19 year old moving far, far away from home. In fact, both him and Marco will have to adjust to the different style of life in the Bay.

Go check out the rest of BWright's blog and get to know the top draft pick.

nice blog, but
is it just me, or his language is really limited?

he repeats word "excited" about once every 40 words

and I am from Latvia...

Cut the kid some slack...
I mean he is only 19 years old.  I think some immaturity in his ability to articulate himself should be expected.

Personally, I am getting excited to see this kid play w/ Baron & crew.  I think his "development time" has been a bit exagerated by the press and by some folks on this site.  I see him getting some serious playing time by mid-season.

Looks like he has some nice range to his shot:

Blocks
Best part is...he controlled the blocked shots, instead of sending them into the upper deck.

Questions? Complaints?

Solution
Marco and Brandon obviously need to move in together. Sitcom gold!

by leee on Aug 15, 2007 12:58 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

worrisome?
I certainly hope "step outside" doesn't translate to "try to become a perimeter jump shooter at the expense of my greatest asset, my high FG%".

lol yah
last thing we need is another streaky "wannabe" jump shooter.

by lightz0ut on Aug 15, 2007 2:23 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

you mean like almost the entire team?
I don't think there are any pure jump shooters on the Warriors squad except maybe Belinelli.  Baron can get it done, but he's more of a dribble drive, pound the ball down your throat guy.  I consider everyone else to be a wannabe jump shooter.

I'm glad to see that the dude has a blog
It shows that he's a personable guy and hopefully not Dunleavy with HSIHAS (head-stuck-in-his-ass syndrome).

Well, from experience
"We call Oakland home, but I wonder what it's going to be like for a 19 year old moving far, far away from home."

I can say it's not all that difficult.

You Can't Compare
your adjustment to the bay to Brandon Wright's.  First of all you didn't come from college and just instantly become a millionaire.  You weren't drafted in the NBA let alone a top 10 draft pick.  People will be all up in Brandon Wright's business trying to take advantage of him and he really doesn't know anyone up here he can trust.  He'll be scrutinized by the media, Nellie, teammates, fans.. you name it.. So don't tell me it's not that hard to make an adjustment.
He is frequently referenced by sportswriter Bill Simmons as one of the least athletic men ever to have a career in the NBA.

I remember
That dude Mokeski.  Wasn't on the dubs in the early 90's platooning the 5 with Jim Petersen?

Just to add a few names
I've been a long time fan watching those guys at Keazar during the summer.  Close runner ups I remember watching: Les Jepson, Matt Fish and Shaun Vandevere.

When Adonal DID write
which was kind of a rarity, it OWNED this 100X. But, then again, he's probobly the most well-educated man in the NBA. So, I cut Brandan Wrights blog some "slack." It was good as far as player blogs go, and it's nice to know what the guy is thinking.

On the other hand, MAJOR props to Fantasy Junkie for coming up with, "Brandan WRITE!" HILARIOUS!

Adonal Foyle Forever....

His NBA Game
Having traded away my favorite player JRich I think the team needs a legit High Flyer.  I hope the picture isn't lying.  I want a POWER foward ramming it down people's throats.  If he is the next Amare great.  I kinda cringe when I hear the the stepping out of the paint bit.  Like we don't already have a glut of 6-10 players in love with the outside.  Do you hear me Zarko, AL and Austin?
