BREAKING NEWS: Don Nelson signed for 2 more yrs.

My friend spoke with Matt Barnes the other night for a long period of time at a party. Barnes said that Don Nelson has been signed for 2 more seasons. I am not sure for what price, and there is no link to this information, but understand that it is coming from a pretty reliable source in Barnes.

In the past many of the posters have been mad at some of my diaries because I did not provide a proper link, but understand that this is he said, she said, and there is no way to really confirm it. But for the most part, I believe this is going to go down, unless Matt Barnes is just straight lying about it, which he obviously isnt.

What do u say? Its about time...

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

i'd say...
he ain't lying. Nellie IS signed for two more seasons. He signed a 3 yr deal before LAST season, of course he has two more, I think Barnes was being sarcastic.

Let's Go Oakland! Gas, Brake, Dip.

'Zactly
And if any new info were to leak, I don't see how it would be through Matt freakin' Barnes. The only people likely to learn anything before the mainstream press are Mullin, Cohan, Nellie and their significant others. Unless Nellie and Barnes have a "special friendship"...

not really man
as soon as anything happens or if there is anything new developing that suggests nellie is coming back doesnt it make sense that people on the team are told.  i mean the players don't find out stuff the same exact time the fans do.

Nellie spotted on the beach!
He does appear to be in a good mood, though I'm not sure if that's 'cos of a new contract or the babe in the pink top...

Well done, BluenGoldBlood -- you scooped the world!

Good news all around. Does this mean a deal for Kobe or the Matrix is in the offing?... ;-)

good news indeed
You know what? This isn't just good news because of Nelson's return (i think everyone can agree that's a good thing)...

Remember those doubters regarding the Warriors "hardball" approach?

Well they just played hardball with Nelson- and won.
According to the Mercury article, Nelson accepted the Warriors initial offer, bumping his pay to $5.1M and making the third year an option. Perhaps a sign Mullin grew a brain stem, rather than Nelson pulling all the strings? Good news indeed all around.

Anyways, I doubted Nelson would coach the 3rd year in any case, and had he left the initial contract, Cohan might have had a case to not have to pay the previous 3rd year anyways.

Even after retirement, Nellie will probably  have more than enough money and glory after what he's done with the Warriors (and Mavs back a few years ago) to have a noteworthy legacy.

Questions? Complaints?

well
even if the team doesn't want him back for a 3rd year or he tells them he doesn't want to coach, he basically gets a million bucks for free in a "team consultant" job. I think that's what probably tipped the ice berg.

well that would be
a great job for him.  have him hanging out sometimes and having mullin consulting him before every move and kieth smart asking him questions.
